HUGE CANADIENS TRADE FOR 4TH OVERALL PICK? JOSHUA ROY TO COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS? Habs News & Rumours
[Music] who who who am I an F an owl like this is one of the craziest ideas that I have seen on Montreal Sports Talk Radio that I just had to go out there and respond to it today we are talking about the Montreal Canadians 2024 NHL Draft plans and the options that they have at the current fifth overall spot now the thing is when it comes to this fifth overall pick I think a lot of Canadians fans have bubbled around some of the same guys like we’ve made videos about many of these potential Canadians targets and based off of the comment section and based off of the amount of views that these videos get it seems like Canadians fans have a clear preference here and I’m generalizing but I’ll say that most Montreal Canadians fans based off of what I’ve seen want to see the team draft Kaden Lindstrom in the fifth overall spot he’s a big dude he could fit in with sovi he’s been talking about SV kovski and Cole Coffield and if he is a center on this team he could be a true number one which could allow Nick Suzuki to absolutely Feast on whomever it is he has the luxury of playing second line Center minutes against or even there could be a 1 a1b situation there could be flexibility there you know options are always a good thing right but if it’s not Kaden Lindstrom I think a lot of Canadians fans have been tossing around the names of TJ ginla Ian demidov other guys that have been rotating around Berkeley Katen is another but today we are talking about the idea of the Montreal Canadians according to George Lorac needing and that’s the key word here needing to draft one of Kaden Lindstrom or Ivan demidov the Russian projected second overall pick in this year’s draft now the thing is Montreal is at number five so you have no real guarantee if a guy like Demi do or Lindstrom is even going to be available where you pick which is why George Lorac goes out there and brings up a different idea take a look at this article published on havs fanatics.com it was published by Elias it just says Alas and I will leave a link in the description here but it essentially goes over some of the comments made by George Lorac on BPM Sports Talk Radio I like this article because it has it written out we can screenshot it so it’s easier to follow along but take a look at this since we had learned that the Canadians are going to be drafting fifth overall many are wondering what Kent Hughes will do with this pick including BPM sports radio host George Lorac and Stefan Gonzalez during a recent edition of their midday show the two buddies discussed the differing options the Canadians have available to them and the two guys agreed on one thing the Montreal Canadians must absolutely aim for Kaden Lindstrom if the Habs don’t come out of the draft with Lindstrom or demidov it would be a failure George Lorac said Ken Hughes must do everything to select one of the two now the thing is I don’t think a lot of Canadians fans would necessarily disagree I mean there are other guys you could take at number five a lot of guys that are projected top five picks even but the question is would they be the best pick the Canadians could get do you need another left-handed defenseman probably not this year’s selection of guys is really putting the D in draft there are a ton of guys that could be taken towards the top that are on the blue line but the Canadians probably don’t benefit much from taking that so with this in mind if you go forward is it really necessary that one of these guys is your target now the guys on BPM then talk about a few ideas The Two Hosts stated that the fifth overall pick plus the Winnipeg Jets pick which is late first round might be sufficient and fair however Stefan Gonzales would prefer the Canadians to give up a defenseman and keep the Jets late pick they then played a little game where George larac improvised as the Canadians GM and Gonzalez as the Blue Jackets GM now FYI Columbus is drafting number four they’re one pick ahead of Montreal so if you wanted to project any trade proposals with Columbus the prize would be moving from number five to number four at that moment George Lorac gave in he would be open to giving up the fifth overall pick and Josh W to ensure obtaining Kaden Lidstrom the trade goes as follows Columbus would give up their first which is fourth overall and Montreal would give up their first which is fifth overall plus W now Gonzalez then returned to his role as a radio host admitting that joshu is really steep price to move up one spot in the draft he would either opt for a second round pick instead or try to trade Philip mesar however we don’t know if Columbus could be tempted by this idea now the video segment in which the BPM guys talked about this is linked in the article Canadian okay we’re not going to read that I can’t read French I apologize but I wanted to toss this idea out there to you Montreal they have to draft one of these guys you have to move up in the draft if Columbus you’re trying to go from 5 to 4 firstly my question here is is that an appropriate spot if you want to get Lindstrom or demidov does moving up to four guarantee you getting that we know San Jose is going to take mlin celebrini first overall that’s a no-brainer who does Chicago take at number two do they go with demidov do they go with Lindstrom themselves or do they take a defenseman there’s been a lot of Buzz lately as to whether or not Chicago could get themselves another top tier blue liner to go with Kevin Kinski and Alex fasic there are a bunch in this draft RTM lunov is available Sam Dickinson Zan Peri boam lots of guys on the blue line after Chicago things get a little bit easier to go with I mean Anaheim there’s a lot of potential on anaheim’s Blue Line already but then again you could say the same thing about their forward core Leo Carlson cutter go Mason McTavish do they want another top tier forward to play with these guys and then Columbus is number four now the question is can you guarantee that the 2023 draft has an order in the top three that does not include both demidov and Lindstrom if you’re Montreal can you make that guarantee can you buy that Chicago is indeed going to draft a defenseman what if Chicago shocks the world and just says okay we’ll go with demidov badar demidov let’s go and then Anaheim is like okay we like big powerful dudes we like cutter go and Leo Carlson let’s take another let’s get k and Lindstrom what if Montreal goes from 5 to 4 only to find that celebrini Lindstrom and demidov are not on the board and then the question becomes okay the next guy available is a defenseman do you really want to reach for a guy like Berkeley katet number four do you want to go with a defenseman just because you want to go BPA that ultimately is the Dilemma at number four and quite frankly trading away the price of Josh W to move up that one spot you could very well say is not worth it I mean that’s only when you take a look at what w is evaluated as in regards to his 2324 profile if you had spoken about Joshua about this like 2 three years ago okay a fifth round guy is the sweetener that you need to go from number five to number four in the 2024 first round you would have been like ecstatic okay great a fifth round pick is all we need to go up one spot amazing but it’s Josh W we’re talking about who’s a lot better than most fifth overall picks have been 32 points 41 games played with lval this previous season and nine points in 23 games with the regular Canadians when he suited up here here I say here I’m in Vancouver what am I talking about but still W is a good talented young piece and could very well become a middle six player if joshu is the difference between guaranteeing yourself a Kaden Lindstrom versus a Berkeley Ken or something is that a price that you take I know a lot of Canadians fans especially in our comment section have been talking about Berkeley K and the primary guy anyway so George lorac’s idea of needing to draft a demidov or a lindström might not even resonate with y’all so I want you to let me know your thoughts in the comment section below firstly what is your primary objective in the 2024 NHL draft is it just to sit back and let whomever it is at number five present itself and have Kent Hughes draft them or is it the trade up and guarantee yourselves a specific guy in the draft who is that specific guy and if it is a guy like de or lindström is it a guarantee that if you draft fourth overall you’re going to get one of these guys how can you be so sure that Chicago is not going to take a defenseman or go against the grain and just take another forward what’s your thought process on that I want you to let me know your thoughts in the comments section below what the Montreal Canadians point of view should be when looking at the top five picks in this year’s draft and whether or not a guy like Josh W is somebody you’d give up in some sort of a trade to move up George Lorac seems to think so and he’s a guy on Sports Talk Radio which is why I thought this was an interesting idea to go out there and bring up in this video so let me know your thoughts in the comments section below I hope you enjoyed this v99 and bye [Music] [Music]

@Legrocks99 I said it before, I’ll say it again. Bro you need to be a guest in Tony Marino sick podcast and discuss habs talk about the upcoming draft.
We are never getting out of this rebuild. As a decade long #1 fan of the CH, this is ridiculous
I’d be willing to give more to trade up with Chicago tbh
for listening to Laraque for a few of his takes, i have not heard a single one that would make sense in either draft or trade… For me it's in order of who is available Demidov, Lindstrom & Iginla. No need to move up moving down if we know Tij will be available sounds good to my ears . Besides all these guys have years before we can say who was stolen at what rank and who was a bust.
If you are 4 and Demidov and Lindstrom are taken, I would jump on Levshunov. But all in all I say keep 5
We are keeping Roy
Assuming CBJ and MTL come to an agreement to swap picks with the intent of MTL getting one of the 2 guys mentioned, it would only happen AT the draft when it's CBJs time to pick. It wouldn't happen before the draft.
Sennece PLEASE!!!! He is amazing. I like hi much more that Linstrom. Lindstrom is another Josh Anderson. Straight line push and not much more.
Man you are just covering all the crazy ideas now. Just stop 🛑
Columbus would probably do the trade; not so much for Roy (Columbus doesn’t need another middle-6 F), but mostly because they’re 99% likely to take a D at #4 anyway, and if they can add another asset and then draft the player they were going to take anyway, of course you do it.
Or maybe you take the guy for future considerations, where the future considerations are not taking the guy Montreal wants.
EDIT: either way, it’s the wrong move to make. You would want to approach either Anaheim or Chicago with an offer for their picks; and I’m pretty sure that Chicago would be open to trading their 2nd overall for a pair of first round picks. They’re not close enough to competing that it wouldn’t make sense to stockpile first rounders whenever possible.
Wow this is starting to become insane. Where do you get all this nonsense.
I would. By fifth Montreal's option might be only a defenseman instead of an offense powerhouse like Lindstrom. I don't believe Roy will be a top 6 regardless of what many think
The real deal here is Berkley Catton. I am an old dude. I was there when the Québec Nordiques drafted Joe Sakic. Catton reminds me a lot of Sakic. Dangerous in any situation, he can shoot, he can pass, he can improvise… Future star to me.
The Jackets don't have a GM !
Call Chicago for Roy you're assured to get whomever you want Montreal. Uz Chgo is going to take Demidov as they're taking best available player
LOL that is never happening. Hughes would have the French media out to destroy him if he traded away a hometown future star. larocque has taken way too many head shots.
We don't have to draft a forward. One of the defensive prospects is fine too if that's all that's available. We have assets we can move for a forward.
Columbus picks off the board in almost every draft. Trading up to get their pick is pointless.
They could try to swing to get the Ducks pick, but the price might be too high, and might as well just trade for Zegras who is already an established presence in the age group the Canadiens are building around.
Demidov’s game doesn’t look like it suits what MTL is looking for in their forward core. Sure it looks flashy and impressive but Iginla’s game looks more translatable to the NHL and what the Habs are looking for. He plays bigger than he is and really the only downside in his highlights is his skating (Paul Byron can help with that). That’s assuming Lindstom is taken within the top 4 (if not, either of the two are the safer, more full proof pick). Missing on this pick kinda ruins the rebuild and forces MTL to trade futures for an already established NHL’er.
I love george…but sometime he doesnt make any sense
Joshua Roy is a very good forward prospect who is not a lot different from what we hope to get in this draft, wherever we happen to be picking. So why would HE be the trade chip here? This particular trade makes no sense.
Cbj won't trade if it means loosing the player they want… so if they are willing to trade means they would not take the player we want … so why trade?
Laraque proposed trading Slaf for PLD last year, was on it really hard. I respect the guy and what he did in and for Montreal, but I wouldn't necessary put too much stock in his idea's for thoughts on what the Habs NEED to do.
This is a terrible trade idea. Move up one spot and lose Roy. 😂🙄
