SHOULD THE COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS KEEP OR TRADE THE #4 OVERALL PICK? #nhl #nhldraft #nhlplayer #cbj

with just a little over a month left until the NHL draft the Columbus Blue Jackets still do not have a general manager in place and yet they have massive holes everywhere in their roster So today we’re asking the big question should CBJ hold a fire sale with the number four overall draft pick hey everybody Welcome in clar the bench is your One-Stop shop for daily fresh hockey content if you go ahead and hit your subscribe button right now every single day we’ll bring you in a new hockey video to enjoy well way back in 2018 when he was then president of the New York Rangers uh John Davidson and Jeff Gordon wrote a letter to the fans and it said we’ve gone as far as we can go with this roster like it or not get ready we’re going to make some big trades we’re going to tear this team down and we’re going to try to rebuild it uh big names went Tampa Bay got Ryan Callahan Ryan McDon and JT Miller during that Purge when I look at what Columbus has got going on right now one pick is not going to make a difference one draft is not going to make a difference for them and even though they’re going to get the number four overall pick and you’re going to get a guy that could go on to be an NHL Superstar for a long time it is not going to change the fortunes of your franchise anytime soon that is going to be a collective effort now I think the pieces are in place for Columbus um you know they just got to get some guys to do a better job it’s obviously not working out with Johnny Gad Patrick l or Elvis M leans I think they just need to get more production out of all three of them and they’ve just been major disappointments uh in their time in Columbus Zack warnky is another guy he’s getting paid almost $10 million a year and this year he had his career high of just 57 points $10 million a year is some kale ma Adam Fox money so they expect a lot more than what they’re getting from him uh they do have some very good prospects that are very close to making this team talking about the two Lucas penelli and D Bell Baloo Denton matuk Gavin Brinley Alex neander so uh they’re close it’s not going to be you know a dry spell for much longer but it is going to take a little bit more until these kids are able to marinate and find their way in the NHL we’re already seeing some of cbj’s future right now and guys like James Malatesta David Urich verono chikov marenko Cole cylinder especially those last four you know I saw them in a game this year against Arizona and let me tell you those kids when they get the puck on their stick it’s like a magnet drawing them straight to the net they are all net Crashers and highly skilled so I could see them as soon as this year uh these kids starting to produce more for them at this year’s draft I believe if they don’t have a GM in place John Davidson’s going to be more than comfortable making the selections and he’s probably going to get help from Rick Nash who’s the player uh development director and also from their director of scouting Joseph bdaman so uh again if they don’t have a GM in place I could see these three guys making the picks and I could see them doing it comfortably if they decided that they wanted to keep the number four overall pick I would suggest that they need to Pi a defenseman CBJ gave up 300 goals this year only San Jose gave up worse uh there’s a lot of good defenseman that are out there that are available uh lunov salv uh if any one of those guys were available they could think long and hard about taking them because they definitely need help on the back end and they need help on the front end almost as bad as the back end uh they were the ninth worst team in the NHL in scoring this year so if a guy like you know demidov or Lindstrom or a ginla were to drop to them I could see them you know hitting the pause button right there and taking a long look at any of these three kids and again these kids are going to be good in the future it could be another like two rough years for CBJ fans but I think they are real close uh to actually turning the the corner and becoming playoff contenders um if they were decide you know what let’s trade the number four pick and let’s see what we can get you know of course you always call Utah Bill Armstrong is the first guy you call in any trade and maybe you say to them hey uh you know we’ll give you the number four Utah gives them the number six and maybe Utah uh throws in some of that plethora of second and third round picks they’ve got over the next three years they’ve got 10 second Rounders and seven third rounders uh so maybe they could come up with a combination uh after they swap the picks of you know second and third rounders that could get that deal done I could also see a team that was in the playoffs who thinks they window of opportunity is closing quickly uh calling CBJ and trying to get into that number four spot maybe trying to uh get a little more skill and you know a little bit more youth at the same time uh some teams that I’m talking about Boston Toronto they have got like no Prospect pool uh so they would need a magician to try to figure out how to make those deals work Colorado I could see as well uh you know what they I think they’re finding themselves where they know they’re going to have to play against Dallas and now other teams in the central are starting to get better Minnesota is going to get better Utah is going to get better uh so I can see them you know maybe they’ve got a guy that they want to move on from and they could package some kind of a deal together and they want to move into the number four spot and just keep what they’ve got going and actually bring it up a little bit of a level uh the LA Kings another guy and this is all you know a GM on one of these teams could just be like you know they’ve got their heart set on a guy in the draft and they’re like hey no matter what this is what we’re going to do uh to try to make it happen and you know when I look at something like what Columbus could do you know let’s say they want to really go for it let’s say they want to try to get into like the number two spot overall you know you could offer Johnny gdo and that fourth spot to the number two you know Chicago that would be pretty good you got Johnny Gad you still got the fourth pick and you would you know have that to go along uh with Conor Bard so I could see that being a good fit you know another place I could see them is maybe you offer the number four to Minnesota and they are picking 13 and maybe you ask for the 13th pick and Gerson the goenda uh their goal tending situation and I think that would be an excellent uh start you know if they wanted to go down just a notch below I’m sure they could you know while they’re talking to Bill Armstrong in Utah they could talk about Carell Vela and maybe there’s a way that uh CBJ could get him in as their going to need to figure out is the Patrick l situation I know that he went into uh you know the NHL’s uh policy I’m sorry he went into their uh program and you know what I hope the kid gets his head straight he seems like he’s a very emotional kid he seems like you know he rides up and downs when people love him he’s happy when people hate him he’s miserable uh and I hate to say it but if you all put forth a good effort on the ice and sometimes that’s been the case with him he looks like he dogs it a little you’re not going to win over any fan bases so they are always going to be booing you or in your face I think that is going to be something that they definitely definitely need to figure out whether it’s going to be they think they can fix him and get him back to being like you know a 75 80 point a year guy or they just move on from him but either way they’re going to have to make a decision on what they’re going to do with lineing so that’s going to take a look at it for today what we think Columbus uh did not only do with the number four overall draft pick but also a little bit moving forward let me know what you think down in the comments section let me know what you think CBJ should do with the number four if they should keep it they should trade it if you could please hit your like button don’t forget to hit your subscribe button and as we always do here are clearing the benches let them know you’re out there

With about a month left until the NHL Draft is held at The Sphere in Las Vegas, Nevada the Columbus Blue Jackets still do not have a General Manager in place.
Will John Davidson, Rick Nash and CBJ’s director of scouting Josef Boumediene make the selections?
Will they trade or keep the pick? Players like Artyem Levshunov, Zeev Buium, Berkly Catton, Cayden Lindstrom and Tij Iginla should all be available when it is their time to make a selection.

  1. Trade the pick to Philly, we like to have Cam Atkinson back. He would be able to finish his career in Columbus. Where he has a home. Be a great influence to our youth.
