2024 Draft Preview Show! – Teal Tinted Glasses

the 2024 draft is almost upon us and we are going to do a little preview of that tonight on teon [Music] glasses but of course if you want to be part of the show make sure you hit us up on all the social media platforms you know where to find us you know what to do it’s time to go tonight I am joined by Mark and Jules hello Mark how are you I’m good doing great excited how are you I am fantastic I’m super excited to do this show uh it’s the best time of the year Jules how are you I’m great best time of the year this is what this is what the season was worth for so all the pain all the pain pain was worth it people all right so um I think so what we’re going to do tonight uh we have a few things that we’re going to do obviously uh we’re going to break down the uh you guys both prepared a top 15 list of people so we’re going to go through those lists I think we’re going to talk about obviously the sharks have two Selections in the first round as of right now they are going to select first overall um and I don’t know who we’re gonna pick with that pick I I wonder I think it’s a defenseman you know and then uh and then obviously they’re going to pick at 14 so I think we’re going to have a conversation about the 14th pick what we might do there um before we get into the list though I do have like I’ve I I I don’t watch the draft as much as I used to like once upon a time I would have my own 15 list and it would it would be a good time those those days are behind me however I don’t remember as much as like my Surface level knowledge of the the the draft class I don’t recall a draft class ever being this all over the place when it comes to everybody’s list like it feels like after celebrini it’s it’s completely different lists no matter where you go whether it’s elite prospects whether you know it’s hockey prospects.com blackbook um future considerations like all your usual sources Bob McKenzie Craig Button uh Sam Constantino all all The Usual Suspects wild maybe not wildly different lists but very different lists have you guys ever remember a draft with this little consensus after one if I’m not mistaken wasn’t 2022 a little like this where it was like 2022 there wasn’t even like it felt like Shane Wright was one and then he fell off but like I feel like 22 was kind of similar Vibes to this draft I don’t know I think Mark probably has a better answer than that I think um I think for the most part it was more surprising on draft day whereas I feel like this year’s list um is kind of in between that I mean you’re seeing guys on some people’s lists at two and then on another person’s list they make be like eight or nine right um and it’s just it’s kind of a mishmash of a bunch of the same names um but then you’ll have a random person have a guy at five that the other person doesn’t even have in the top like 15 so it’s just it’s all over the place and that’s why I think these lists are going to be kind of interesting to go through um and also just it’s going to be very tricky on draft K kind of to see how it unfolds just because it’s going to really come down to what a team prefers or maybe if they’re drafting for team need which you know that’s always the big question but um yeah no I’m with you guys it’s definitely a tricky year after number one it’s weird because like I think like what you brought up 22 and I think 22 like I feel like the list were still somewhat consistent yeah no I get that but like 22 was a weird like those covid drafts were weird like all those those covid drafts were all pretty weird um just because it was obviously you had guys that didn’t play for like I don’t think the O played at all in 2021 which made it tricky to get you know to get guys playing time and for seeing guys I don’t know it’s GNA be it’s going to be interesting I feel like now we’ve kind of gotten back to normal so I don’t think that’s that’s going to be so much of a factor in this draft but it is it is interesting how little consensus there is um how do you guys want to do this do you guys want to go through your 15 or do you want to go you want to go like Rank by Rank and we can kind of we can go Rank by rank Rank by rank marks and I’s list is like basically almost completely different it feels like so it’s it’s interesting it’s gonna be interesting yeah um all right so um the hardest one of all who are you guys taking first overall Ivan de no I’m joking uh mlin CBR I mean like I I think really early on he just separated himself from the pack it feels like at least this year you know winning the Hobie Baker at 17 years old just a complete two-way player is kind of a franchise Center uh I don’t think he’s Bard McDavid level and I don’t mean that in a bad way um I just think those players come around very rarely uh but two-way player has an elite elite shot like I I think that’s kind of an underrated trade of his like his shot is really good um and add that to the Sharks Pool you’re it it’s he’s going to be really good and he absolutely deserves number one and I wouldn’t be surprised if he wins a sky in his career Mark yeah I’ll jump on that um yeah Macklin’s clearcut number one obviously and I think if you look at the last five six seven draft years he is on the higher end I think coming into the draft in terms of what he’s accomplished and what he brings to the table he may not have um generational level skill as say a Bard but I would not be shocked if there’s a future world where he’s actually a more valuable player though to the team he’s on because he brings a complete game um he brings like a winnner game um I could see Bard being player on a mediocre team whereas I think celebrini is a guy who actually just brings his team to a different level um obviously it’s yet to be seen how that will translate to the NHL but I’ve just never seen a guy perform at his level at his age in the NCAA which is better than it’s ever been too yeah like he every single night he was like his best the best player on his given team and if he’s not putting up points he’s doing little things defensively so yeah I think that’s the thing like when I when i’ like from what I’ve got from watching celebrini watching clips and watching everything else is it’s like is the is the complete game and I find like with a lot of prospects now you don’t get that complete game on the higher end it’s usually like the higher end guys you know they’re they’re all offense and then they’re completely useless in their own end of the ice and mlin celebrini is like the exact opposite of that like the the completeness in his game I think is is fantastic and I think that’s what makes me the most excited about him because he’s going to be a guy who’s going to not only be good offensively which I think he’s going to be great offensively but he’s a guy who’s going to also like you know like Jules said you know he’s he’s a guy who could just become a sky a perennial skky guy he has a little bit of barov in him in a sense where like barov doesn’t get recognized for a lot of things that he does but like Florida’s not in the Stanley Cup Final without barov does like does that make sense like he absolutely the value he brings yeah the value he brings um feels a little a little bit bark off like and I hate comparisons but like yeah and I think you know like I don’t like player I think player comparisons are are kind of a Fool’s game um but you’ll you because you often see that and it’s kind of like oh well he’s this guy right and I think the reason why player comparisons are so popular is because for like a guy who doesn’t understand so much like oh this is the tool set and you know this is a skating and this is that if you say yeah but he also he kind of plays similar to so and so someone can go I know that player I understand what you’re mean now yeah you know and I think like the one of the comparisons and again I don’t think like Celine is a generational player but again you like you lots of lots of players in this league aren’t generational and they’re really really good right um but the one like a player comparison that I see get brought up all the time is Sydney Crosby and I think you know Sydney Crosby is a guy who has that 200 foot game and I don’t think is he going to have the you know all of the skill of Sydney Crosby probably not again Sydney Crosby is a generational player um but like he’s gonna be like right below that and I think that’s it’s exciting man I mean it’s it’s an exciting time to be a sharks fan and after this season man we need to we need we need that tiger saying celebrity and Smith being compared to a potential Kanan Taz is absolutely excit yeah 100% right and that’s another that’s another player that I think celebrini also gets compared to a lot is is is Jonathan Tas who I think because maybe Jonathan taase didn’t put up the numbers that you would that would make you super exciting but then when you look at the other players that he played with on that Blackhawks team I mean he didn’t have to be um I think but I mean again like Jonathan Tas is a is is a great player he’s actually one of my favorite players um and so I mean to get to get Shades at that again I think player comps are a Fool’s game but if if you said like that’s what you could expect from those two players I think sharks fin should be exciting given what those players did in Chicago and something wa add one more I think with Smith like this also like now we have our two centers of the future and I know there’s still questions about Smith at Center and we can address those if you guys want but like I think now we like having the depth the sharks are going to have at Center is really nice with you know sbini Smith bastad and edstrom like you’ve solidified your four centers it feels like for the future so that’s also a really good positive to have important position to secure so absolutely I mean if you’re in this this position to draft for specific need you always kind of start with center right it’s either it’s a big Center or um a number one defenseman that’s what you go with so having one two and potentially three lined up um in the depth chart is huge for the future of the franchise yep um I don’t know who’s running the dealt count right now I think it’s might be Puck guy I’m not sure uh so whoever is running the f I apologize uh Bruce gck I guess saying the aut Senators trying to make changes are listening on the number seventh pick sharks leave boam sorry I didn’t say that I just wonder what the price would be no same get up there like I I just wonder what that cost though yeah they have that calculator that tells you the worth of picks and for seven I think it would be our first and both of our second thank you AJ yeah thank you AJ yeah I I just I like it’s it’s definitely enticing especially like some of the players that we’re going to talk about in that range but yeah it’s a price that cost like does that cost you your does that cost you 1442 and maybe the next play pick after that I wouldn’t do that but oh there’s a good question for you guys um Falcon strike asking would you rather have mlin celebrini or Jack Hughes tough one see it’s a it’s similar what I was saying kind of even with Bard it’s one of those things where I think celebrini could be the more valuable player but man I have so much fun watching Jack Hughes that I’ve just wanted a player like him on the Sharks for so damn long like I say this all the time but one of my favorite players in the Sharks franchise history is Alexander kuk just because he was so fun to watch with the puck now Jack Hughes is him obviously like on a million steroids but um but still the point is like the sharks have rarely had guys who love to dangle and have the speed of a guy like Jack Hughes so I would be tempted in some case to go with Jack Hughes I mean is his contract coming with him too because that’s a steal of a contract for what he brings for the next eight years um but I I don’t know it’s again it’s a question right now you obviously choose Jack Hughes but the upside for celebrini could be playoff MVP type player so it’s tough It’s really tough to say yeahor no I was gonna say that like for me I like I love Jack Hughes um but I think like I think celebrini is going to be the better overall player I agree I think that Jack Hughes is the more is going to be the more Dynamic player and I think like Mark said he’s a hell of a fun to watch um but I feel like like celebrini is special because his because of his whole game and I think if you’re trying to build up like the sharks are and I think that the sharks like their their Prospect pool has come along but I’m not super enamored with it still um like I just feel like a guy like celini is such a such a complete player for me I think sbini is a guy who and I’m not saying Jack Hughes isn’t going to win a cup but sbini is the type of guy you want in the playoffs is going to grind it out is going to shut down the opposition’s best players like don’t forget as much as we sharks s hate it we’re going to have to go up against Connor Bard like for decades to come and maybe Ivan demidov or whatever but my point is is like he’s the type of guy who’s GNA shut down your best players and he just he provides the full package and I’m not saying Jack Hughes doesn’t but I think an NHL’s like goal is an NHL team’s goal is to win the Stanley Cup I think so brini gives you a little like right now I take Jack Hughes but like maybe five years down the line I think I’m going CBR just because he’s a little bit more of a complete player yeah CU it’s hard right cuz Jack Hughes is already in the show right he’s there already star like it’s it’s it’s hard to be like well this this is what this guy projects to be um yeah I mean that makes it hard I love Jack Hughes too man like that’s really tough I love Jack Hughes sorry is Quinton musy the dollar store Jack just a funny comment no but that’s funny no no yeah like Alec Vincent I think like he he really like I think he sums this up best celebrating versus Hughes is the light version of Crosby versus McDavid nearly impossible to answer that question yeah it’s fair uh okay so AJ’s uh and then we’ll get to the list here AJ say Okay hear me out to Ottawa to get seven the sharks give up 1444 and Mario Ferraro yeah fero for for uh pick seven I would do that I’d do that tomorrow sadly I would also do that yes where’s my phone call my right now all right so let’s get into the list here I I’m gonna try and uh I will try and hit up the um hit up the the chat as as as well as I can here I’m sure no one will get mad at me for my rankings uh it’s fine rankings are rankings man okay um who wants to go first with their uh with their with number two on their list um I’ll let Jules go first all right yeah I mean to me it’s kind of it feels like it’s the I mean I will say marks one it’s just people have been going back and forth between these two for two and three but if i’t demidov like the dude’s a Human Highlight Reel and I mean that like I don’t know I I call a few prospects in this draft the unicorn of the draft but like this guy like honestly offense– wise in the NHL he could probably put up more points in sbini and I think he has the potential to become a more offensive output if that makes sense in sbini the guy just plays the way like he can read the play like at least three plays ahead like if you watch some of these kids highlights he he reads the play like super far ahead um I know he played in the MHL and I know the Russian Factor but I think this guy like he’s could be lethal put in the right situation in the NHL so he’s my number two just because I think pure skill I I have to put him up there at my number two yep um and I think I’ll just should I just go into my number two and then I can talk about demidov when I get down to him on my list sure um so yeah for my number two I have RTM leev shov um I think my view on him is he’s a big defenseman six fo two uh tons of offensive abilities while also being fairly responsible in his own end um just had a fantastic season as a pre-draft player in the NCAA again NCAA is in my opinion probably the best place to draft a player out of at this point um and I just think from his game he has a very very high upside there are definitely question marks and I think you’re going to hear that across the board from here to on that there’s something a lead about everyone but they all have some question marks um so with him it’s really a matter of how that translates and if he develop some more levels of consistency but in my view I think he is the closest thing in this draft um to being a number one defenseman and not just it’s very close with another guy we’ll get to a little bit later but I think he is the closest thing project projection wise to a number one defenseman um while also having a very High floor I would say I can’t see him being anything worse than a top four defenseman um so that’s that’s my number two pick yeah like linov is an interesting one I want to talk about linov first obviously I think he’s a guy who’s interesting to me because like he’s when you talk about players being all over the place right like I think Sam centino has them as high as two and then other places have them as low as 10 what what makes you what you like what makes make this make sense to me to me I think it’s just some of the questions I think there are definitely games if you watched him this year in college where he kind of looked um like either the IQ was lacking or just he didn’t have his aame um and if you’re taking someone number two overall you kind of want them to dictate the game on a nightly basis um but again as a 17-year-old defenseman playing against some guys who are like 24 25 in college I think he handled himself quite well and that’s a position that is a little bit harder to adjust to as well as opposed to say like a forward um where you don’t have quite as much responsibility um and they were the the fifth ranked team and they were into in the NCAA tournament so they he was constantly um playing against top opponents and in big matches so I think he showed himself well there um and again I think Jules will say the same it’s very very close my two through five players so I on one day I might flip a coin and someone else but in this moment if the Sharks were at number two I’d be wanting to take leov I think yeah I’m going to be real my two through 10 players are kind of like there’s little things in all of them that I like more than others like it’s such a weird draft in that sense yeah so Jules I mean you have demidov and I think if I was making a list with like again like I’ve done surface level into the draft this year right um but he’s a guy to me that I think I would probably put two on my list if I had to make a list just because I think like the off of talent is definitely there and I think the Russian Factor scares a lot of people especially after what happened with the Flyers goalie when he tried to come over um the thing with demidov though to me is that like he’s only got a year left on his deal unless that’s changed and I haven’t I haven’t seen that I haven’t heard and the other thing with with demidov too like I think the Russian factor is obviously scary because of we don’t know what the world’s going to do tomorrow um geopolitically stuff like that yeah um but so and especially after what happened with the Flyers there like obviously that’s going to give a lot of teams pause for concern but we were we were talking about this in the Discord the other night and we kind of went through and not like any Russian who’s been selected in the first round for the most part they’ve made their way over here at some point now not now I’ll now look it have they all panned out no obviously not and I think you know prospects the the thing about prospects is they’re prospects they’re not guaranteed things um but you know some of them have like it seems like everyone that’s been drafted especially in the the higher end of the draft is always made their way over now maybe they played in the HL for a couple of Seasons didn’t work out and they went home but they’ve generally come there was one player who didn’t and it was because he died yeah I shouldn’t laugh at that but I mean that’s yeah that that’s the only time where where it kind of hasn’t happen so I so as much as I do think like the Russian factor is definitely a thing and I know it does scare teams but I I think it maybe I don’t know I mean it kind of feels overblown no it it definitely does and I just kind of added that in because I knew someone was going to mention that as like oh what happens if he doesn’t come over but to me demidov I think has one of the highest ceilings in this draft like if he hits I genuinely think you’re gonna get a pretty darn Superstar um and like especially if like I know Blackhawks are at two so I’m just going to use this as an example if you pair him with Bard good luck to the rest of the N I know like I don’t want him to go to because again like send him send him I don’t think he will but uh he send please he he plays he thinks the game it feels like differently than everyone else and he has such a good hockey sense that I I have he force my hand there to put him at too even though I like love shov also but yeah all right so I’m gonna go with you go back to you Jules uh who is your number three okay I know I have this guy ranked too high but I love him too much uh my number three is zeve buam this guy I think I I I mentioned this to I think Mark and I were like dming during the World Juniors he just he feels like one of the could become one of the best defensemen in the draft he’s so good in transition he in the last 20 years put up the highest points per game in like for a draft eligible defenseman with a 1.26 and that’s higher than some of those other defenseman uh that have come from the NCAA I believe Quinn Hughes and those good people if I’m not mistaken that’d be really embarrassing if I am um but he’s just he feels like he’s a an elite skater could probably run pp1 uh for any team uh transition monster and I absolutely love him he’s my number three Mark all right um my number three is T ainla the son of Jerome ainla um similar to jwes I think I might have him a bit higher than most but I love this kid um I think realistic scenarios he’s probably going more in that five to 10 range and if when we talk a little bit later about like draft strategies he’s one of those guys I am penciling in that I would just absolutely love to see the Sharks draft and I think he is the exact kind of player that my career is in love with this guy’s motor is insane it’s insane and not only that along with his motor comes a guy who can shoot so well who can skate fairly well and also has great skills like this guy can just score and he does it um in such a pro way he’s not one of those guys who you can kind of see benefiting off of things that won’t work at a higher level this guy is built to be a pro scorer um and I think a guy like him similar to what we were saying about celebrini is the kind of guy who will step up in the playoffs and score when the games get really difficult or in those later minutes of the game so I have met three I think the general consensus on him is somewhere between five and even as late as like 13 14 or 15 so who knows he could even be available at 14 um there’s a lot of folks who speculate on him getting drafted by Calgary because they have that pick I think it um is it eight or 10 um I think it’s eight yeah yeah so he’s my number three uh I’m just really really high on him and I think he would also go very well with the assortment of prospects that we have we tend to have at the moment a lot of more play creators I think he’s more of a play finisher um so that’s pretty much I think a summary of where I have him but again a bit High compared to the rest of the board yeah I mean it’s again interesting another interesting player again like there’s so little consensus right because like T I think I think Craig Button is the highest on him but like there’s there’s people like again like you look at the the highs and lows here um I See’s ranked as high as four and as low as 16 which is crazy um but again a d damic player Mark I’ll let you go with your number four I think we’ll just snake the way through y so number four I have who Jules had a three z boam um pretty much agree with everything she said I think he um and he’s the one I was kind of alluding to earlier that I would flip sometimes with lein offs I think both of them have a pretty high floor I think they both are guaranteed in that top four spot and the thing about buam that’s very unique um he’s a play Creator but also has a lot of cist defensively I think he has that number one upside and and the number one you want not like a number one like Carlson where there’s some defensive deficiencies like he’s the number one that also can play in all situations and does so in a very responsible way so I have him at number four and I think he’s another candidate that I think would be huge for the Sharks to try to trade up for especially with the way our Prospect pool is currently built 100% um my number four and I just saw someone said that we underrate this guy kayen Lindstrom in my opinion I know he got injured but if he didn’t get injured in my opinion this guy’s going top three in the draft no question he is probably the next great power forward Center um he played for the medicine hats he got injured so that kind of downgraded his uh stock a bit and I know there’s concern because it was a back injury um but I I I he seems to be better I know he uh my God he participated in the combine he’s super fast like literally super fast that dude flies up the ice and you’re like when did you get there good sir Elite playmaking ability Elite Vision um he has a chance to be a top number one Center in my opinion so he’s my four yeah um yeah Kaden lindst is a guy I that I like a lot from what I’ve seen I I I I think back injuries are scary but being that is Young usually that’s that bod’s better than injuries like that when you’re older but it’s definitely still a concern right but yeah I think uh that is definitely uh a thing so who am I going back to now uh Jules oh yes um for me I have artam left shov kind of what Mark said about him um he kind of dragged Michigan State back it feels like this year he was their best player some nights and then other nights you’re like what are you thinking dude so the consistency there was in and out uh like boam in the last 20 years he got the second highest points per game at 0.94 so you can just tell how stacked this draft is with defenseman and we haven’t even gotten to like eight of them so um big guy he’ll he’s really good defensively really good on the offense put up good numbers he’s he’s my five he has the potential to be a number one D like buam and if he was a right d he would probably go top three see and that’s what I wondered too like because I look at some of these guys and I think that’s the thing about leov and I’m glad you brought that up because that that was one question I was gonna ask is this guy shoots right does that change everything because everyone loves their everyone loves the right-handed shooting defenseman and yeah I think that’s the thing like if he if he shoots right I wonder if there’s so much if there’s as much conversation about it if he was right right d in 6 foot three probably but like if they could all be right d and 6 fo3 yeah if they could all be love shoof they could all be that yeah um Mark um so we’re on number five right um I have Anton salv out of the KHL um he is one of those guys who’s kind of bounced around a lot in people’s rankings I’ve seen him as highest two um and I’ve definitely seen him even out of the top 10 um I think he’s raw but man he’s got some things you just cannot teach I the obvious one is that he’s six foot seven right so anytime six foot seven comes around what does everyone say oh zido charara zido charara I see some Tyler Myers comps and all that stuff but really that stuff is irrelevant in this case um Anon salv has I’d say top pairing defenseman makeup um I think more so leaning towards the defensive side but this dude’s skating is actually among the best in the draft which is extremely rare for a six foot s defenseman so you got to think that plus his ability to close his gaps and how he plays defensively he’s automatically going to translate I think to the NHL assuming obviously he comes over I’m right the whole Russia stuff aside um I think physically and the way he played translates very well to the NHL to at a minimum again be kind of like a second pairing defenseman um he showed a lot of flashes specifically um noticed when I was watching him that he’s pretty good at bringing the puck up the ice which is surprising for a 17-year-old playing in one of the better Pro leagues in the world right like he had the courage to do it and not only that he did it fairly seamlessly um in transition so from what from what I’ve seen from him I think he is a little bit of a boomer bus Prospect um but I think if he does hit boom you’re talking possible Norris Trophy type player who can dominate in all situations um if he doesn’t boom I still think he’s an NHL I still think he’s an NHL player um because of how he plays defensively and just how good of a skater he is I think you can teach him some of the other things to at least make him a second pairing defenseman yeah I think like the the one thing that was going to be my first question so I’m glad you hit that right off the top because I was like how does he skate because that’s the one thing with all these big dudes is like most of them skate like giraffes yeah and he doesn’t look like that that’s the thing very smooth yeah yeah he’s he’s rated as one of the best skaters in the draft which is crazy for a six foot seven defenseman like you just think about the amount of space a guy like that can cover and also how easy it will be for him to um I guess just shift in the defensive zone or even come back if he’s pinching offensively it’s just it is it’s very beautiful to watch him skate it’s crazy and it’s to say that for a guy that tall yeah um just a quick question in the chat here Zab Zam zimus all man I I tried I tried I’m sorry uh sorry new fan here how um but how about a goalkeeper don’t we need to have one of those or or does what we have good enough um hold that thought dude we will we will definitely out score our problems we are we will outscore our problems no U we’ll tending I think something that we do definitely that I do want to talk about um and we’ll definitely get into goenda I I did want to point that out that uh we are gonna talk about that all right um who are we going at next uh I don’t I was sneaking Mark you went me um so for six I have Ivan demidov like um Jules head at two and absolutely understand his upside um I think the one thing you hear frequently like juul said is he’s the most skilled player in the draft I don’t think there’s any question there um part of the reason I rate him a little bit lower which is gonna sound a little bit hypocritical because I had tiin L three is because he’s a Winger I do value centers and defenseman more that’s but it’s also his style of play he’s a flashy Winger he is a guy [Music] who yeah it’s all it’s a lot of skill it’s a lot of skill and if it translates I mean he’s gonna be absolutely lethal in the NHL and I’m I really don’t have doubts as it that it will I have him at six so I still rank the guy very highly I just have a few guys that I love a bit more than him um higher in the rankings but with him if he happened to drop which is never going to happen because I think the general consensus is he’s going to be like top six or seven yeah a little bit I think the only person who had him at six was like Bob Mackenzie in those rankings like he hasn’t released his end of year rankings yet so um but everyone else like he’s top four at least for everyone else yeah I so yeah so so why why six I think it’s it it comes down to position and style of play he’s a guy who has a lot of skill but I don’t necessarily know how that will show up in big games and if you’re building a winner and the other thing I would say is his skating is just a little bit weaker than some of the guys I mentioned above him I am huge on skating like I want all my draft picks to be the best skaters in the draft because it’s just something that I feel like they always say you can possibly make people better skaters but I don’t believe that I think a lot of skating is like in your form and it’s like almost in your DNA from like developing as a child and it’s like yeah it’s really hard to teach an adult to be a much better skater so that is just the only thing I do sometimes s question certain players like listen we all saw Jonathan chichu play the dude was the worst skater in the world and he scored 50 something goals in the NHL but if your skating is a weakness sometimes I feel like your longevity can be hurt no he definitely has a weird skating stride when I watch him and I’m like that doesn’t seem normal yeah it was I don’t know sorry I was say Falcon stri kind of echoing that in the chat here too he said like that his skating mechanic or wonky I think I think you can teach skating obviously like I think skating is definitely a skill you can teach but I think there has to to be a foundation there for a long time the Sharks drafted a lot of guys that had other tool kits and couldn’t skate yeah uh for a long time and they’re like ah we can teach skating and more often than not they didn’t yeah I mean that’s just the way I kind of see it here um I think we’re going back to Jules uh Berkeley Cen mind you so I I would like to say something if Berkeley Caden Falls to 14 Mike Greer you’ve won the draft congratulations you can go home but anyways I digress I love Berkeley Caden dude it I honestly was temp it to rank Berkeley Caden higher uh but I just like the players again from like two to 10 with me it’s like I like all of them please give me all of them but uh Berkeley CL Berkeley cam speaking of good skaters good skater really good shot just a Human Highlight Reel can dangle basically through it feels like anything if you watch him and I know it’s the the WHL Defenders that’s the league right yeah he’s in the WL uh Defender so they’re not the best defender but he he has all the tools and if he wasn’t 5’11 I can guarantee you he would be ranked a lot higher I know there’s some concern whether he would translate to Center at the NHL I the guy has all the skill in the world to succeed a really good shot he’s one of the best in transition other than sbini as a forward and maybe another guy but uh yeah he’s he’s my number six and I think he’s he might turn out to be the steal of the draft like Zach Benson was last year yeah Berkeley kon’s an interesting one because I feel like he gets a lot of he gets a lot of love on the Twitter machine um I feel like a lot of people seem to really really like him uh who’s your number seven Jules uh sorry uh my number seven is was Mark’s number three TJ ginla this guy is Mike like I guarantee Mike Greer is dying for him to fall to the sharks like Mark said has a really good shot probably one of the best in the draft to be honest with you um can just do everything you can’t get this guy off the puck like you can try you’re not going to I don’t think San soberg could get this guy off the puck um he’s a Workforce he’ll do basically anything and he’s what you need on a championship build team okay um number seven for you mark Kaden lindstrΓΆm um this is one that I do battle with a little bit and I will fully be transparent I definitely lowered him a tiny bit due to the injuries um the back injury is scary it’s something you just don’t want to see with someone his age um he also had a RIS injury this season as well um so a lot of time I think when he was playing he was fantastic and he shot up boards this year um in the first half I think he has a lot of tools to be a lethal player in the NHL um some of how he plays uh I don’t know if it’s going to translate to Center at the NHL level but he’s huge and he can move and he’s got great finishing abilities and great pucks abilities so it’s just like you mix all that together you have a guy who the ceiling is extremely high um and again at at seven this in no way a negative on him so I’m trying to like find negatives about players at this point to really say why I maybe rated them below someone else but this guy is gonna be a potential steal for whoever gets him if he was to actually drop this low yeah realistically he’s probably going top four or five I think because of his size and the potential of being a center in the NHL um but yeah I just had him a little bit lower than some of the other guys I think they’re either a bit more dynamic or um they just maybe have a a little bit better trajectory or their ceiling might a little bit higher just V various little things just for the guys I had before him all right uh and your number eight zann parck um defenseman he is kind of a little bit of a different mold than the defenseman I listed earlier so boam salv and linov all are more responsible defensively Zay parak parck is the guy who kind of has that classic Prospect mold of looking like a wizard offensively but defensively there are questions and there’s some questions with his decision making um but this guy put up some crazy numbers for a defenseman as who has not been drafted yet I think it was like 30 goals 90 points or something like that in juniors and you just don’t see that when you see him with the puck that’s when you really get impressed by his abilities he’s just a wizard with it yeah he just creates opportunities left and right so from the center ice forward I think you have a future star it’s just a matter of how well he adapts on the back end and I’m not terribly skeptical about it I don’t think he’s going to be like a Ryan Merkley um where coaches like f that I don’t want him on my team it’s just a matter of it might be a work in progress for for Zay perck for me because Zay perck is a player that I am very familiar with uh seof spirit Memorial Cup champion um he’s a guy the thing that I like about zanen perck maybe I don’t like but I would like if he was on my team I I hate man um but like that Sagen side um I the one thing about zann perck is that he is like you think usually when you think of like an offensive defenseman that you they usually don’t have teeth zann peric has teeth like this he he can be a nasty piece of work like not like I don’t want to say he’s a complete goon like I don’t say he’s completely dirty but like he has teeth like he he is not a guy that you are going to skate around and not know that you skated around him like he he’s gonna finish checks when in in transition like he is he’s not his defens like I do think there are holes in his defensive game but if he does get you over in a corner you are going to know he got you over in a corner because he he’s GNA finish every check and you will know that he’s there um again I think some of his decision- making in the defensive Zone isn’t as maybe as good as you would like it to be but if if he does make the right decision in the defensive no you’re you’re GNA know he was there yep agreed that’s that’s my take from what I’ve seen uh from him uh this year uh I believe that sends us back to jewels for number eight so I don’t know why I have this guy so low but I just kind of like the other guys better Anton Sala uh the Unicorn another unicorn of this draft a 6’7 just defense I’ve never seen a guy skate so smoothly at 6′ s I’m sorry like the the dude skating is ridiculous and I understand why people have him so high I just did not rank him higher than the other guys because I was a little bit higher on the other guys but some team is gonna if he hits he like Mark said Norris Trophy defensive defenseman really responsible defensively I I don’t think I can put that as an understatement like the the dude knows how to use his 6′ seven frame he knows how to istic um and I just I like the other guys better so don’t take it like oh she has e how dare she no I I really like the guy uh but I I couldn’t rank him higher and I’m sure people will tell me I’m an idiot for that I I I don’t know I mean like I feel like I mean they could but at the end of the day like look at look at like you just look at the the rankings and there’s there’s no consensus so I just feel like regardless of what you may think a guy is like everyone probably disagrees with you as well because again there’s no consensus after after two right I don’t know man I I just that’s the way I look draft’s just a wild card of unicorns to be honest it is it is it is a weird it is a weird draft I will uh give it that and then uh that brings us to your number nine Jules Zan PR um the dude had the highest points per game in the OHL in like 20 years at a 1.45 I believe was the number with him like if you watch him he just he he’s a wizard with the puck he will get the puck somewhere and you’re like how the part of my language how the [ __ ] did you get that through four like guys and then onto the guy stick like he just does what he wants with the puck and he can just like another defenseman we’ll talk about later scored 30 goals in the um except the guy did in a different League I believe but scored 30 goals as a defenseman um again if he can fix that defensive side to his game the dudes are noris caliber defenseman and he will put up a butload of points in the NHL okay Mark you’re number nine number n Berkeley katton um he similar to what Jules mentioned he’s he’s an offensive wizard he’s very good offensively um I think he has everything you want in a guy who’s going to create points in the NHL um he’s small I think his offense will translate to the NHL it’s very Shifty good with the puck good shot he’s got it all up front um I don’t know if he translates as a center which Jules mentioned I think he might end up being a guy who shifts to the wing I don’t think his game is responsible enough to be trusted as like a number one or number two Center um so that is what lowered him a tiny bit on my chart I think he is definitely a um a fall candidate a guy who could drop maybe a few spots and even into the teens because of some of the things that we’ve both mentioned but for me I still think he’s a top 10 guy because of his offensive upside I’m just hoping GMS are stupid I’m gonna be so real with you yeah that’s all we hope for two weeks from now every GM except Mike Greer except M be DB please please no yeah I saw him at a mock at 14 I was like I don’t think that’s going to happen but if it does uh we don’t need another one of Berkeley Caden and not saying we can’t have too many of Berkeley cam but we just we have a lot of those guys already it feels like but if you Falls Mike G congrats uh your number 10 Mark all right uh this a year ago would have been bold for opposite reasons than it’s a little bit bold today um I’ll go with Cole Eiserman so originally he was supposed to be in a race with mlin celebrini for number one overall if you if if people think back to a year ago and more um now a lot of people have him 10 and Beyond maybe even falling past where the sharks are picking now here’s my view on him and I love how many people like make this statement that all he does is score as it’s the worst thing right I know like it’s the negative and it’s it’s weird because that’s become like this kind of like fashionable thing for Scouts to say these days is all someone does is score and like that’s not a problem like if you look at the Sharks Prospect we need a guy who can only score like yeah we’ve got Halton in sure but most of our other guys like I was saying earlier are kind of set up men right so a guy like Eiserman I think um there are parts of his game that is lacking there are definitely times he looks uninterested I don’t really trust a lot of the numbers he puts up in the US ndtp like those things you know there sure he broke the record fine the names he’s with are kind of good um that’s fantastic I want to see what he does next year in college but I do think his ability to score from around the circles and pretty much anywhere in the offensive zone is by far the best in this draft even better than ainla um so at a minimum I think he could turn into a 25 30 goal score in the NHL and if you know you’re getting that then that’s a win right away right because these are all again Lottery tickets these are all crap shoots you never know how a player is going to develop so I think at a minimum um he has an NHL future as a score and maybe he’ll be limited in certain situations he won’t be a guy you obviously throw out in the PK he won’t be a guy that you maybe throw out in certain you know tense moments but if he’s a guy who can score and then he has the ability to develop more I’m willing to you know cash in that ticket and risk it yeah he’s a guy to me like he’s fascinating to me because again it’s like you said right like all he does is score I mean you kind of need those guys the only concern I have with him I guess is like if you’re looking at like kind of trajectory right because I think if you look at other guys that are like all scoring and I’m not saying he’s going to be Alexander avkin but like what does Alexander avkin do other than score not a lot right throws the body sometimes yeah he does throw the body sometimes right um and I think like so I look at him and you know and again I’m not saying he’s going to be a vkin but like I think the the scary thing is like and I know that there’s been injuries and other issues but like is he a vkin or is he Patrick l yeah no I get that right and I know that L’s had other issues and I but I mean like when you when you let that was L too right all he does is scores yeah the other guy they talked about was um Owen tippet if people remember him he was another guy who came into the draft as like a big scoring type forward um and was limited elsewhere and he’s had a pretty good career he’s decent now what is he 25 goal score 30 goal score in the NHL you need those guys I don’t know that’s I think that’s my that’s my concern like he’s definitely to me he looks like one of the bigger Boomer bust guys in probably both your top 15s probably in everyone’s top 15 I think he’s for the people that have him in there I feel like he’s probably the biggest Boomer bust guy is that fair yeah it should also be called out that he’s he’s besties with mlin celebrini we can get both of them together they’re going to be you so Myer is already salivating draft him yeah all right settled there we go uh all right uh Jules uh you’re number 10 yeah so I want to before I say up like Sal of perk and this guy kind of clumped together with like they all have really high potential but Sam Dickinson he’s a guy he I think he’s a little raw as a prospect not going to lie like he defin he has he’s he’s a pretty good skater um he feels like a team can kind of mold him into whatever they need like if you need a shutdown guy that’s going to stop stop the rush he can do that if you need an offensive guy I think you can mold him so he kind of feels like a safe pick but not a safe pick because I think depending on the team needs I think he can kind of do whatever uh he had a really good season in London had a good Memorial Cup scored the game tying goal there um but yeah he’s just a guy that I think has all the potential in the world but he has to put it together and I’m just curious to see if that will happen with him but I I think he doesn’t I think he’s a safe fish pick if that makes sense but yeah fair enough and your 11 uh my 11 another again kind of safe pick and cona helenius in my opinion he’s a little under the radar like I don’t think people are talking about him enough but it also feels like he doesn’t need to be talked about enough he’s just a 200 foot player does everything right um I believe he played against men if I’m not mistaken this year like he just kind of does everything correctly um and it feels like you his potential is probably a Sega line Center so he’s a safe pick probably one of the more NHL ready prospects so yeah yeah Mark I see you have mid 11 as well um anything you want to add to that yeah I was gonna say it’s the one pick we had exactly the same there one other one you’ll see but for him I look at him as pretty much I’d say a real nice guarantee for like a number three Center and a possibility of a two um I think he has a game that definitely translates to the NHL the reason I don’t have him higher is because I think he’s Limited in his upside they I just don’t see a chance of this guy being like a number one Center but he’s like what I think of when I think of like a classic Finnish player um from F Finland that is um not great Finnish but from Finland he he’s one of those guys who like you just trust him in all scenarios he plays a mature game um you can trust him and I don’t really think there’s a lot of highs and lows I think you just know what to expect from him every game and you kind of get it um he did play like juules said against men this year in a pro league he also made the world championships team for Finland which is an impressive thing so um I think he’s a guy that you really couldn’t go wrong with in this spot I mean the sharks have a lot of centers like that he’d be fighting with bead and edstrom and potentially other guys but I I think if you’re a team in that spot he’s who you would take from my perspective if a team like New Jersey would like NHL ready he can probably slide into your lineup pretty quickly but yeah sorry go ahead uh your number 12 Mark um this is where I have Sam Dickinson definitely admit that I have got him a lot lower than others um it’s merely a thing of upside again I think like Jules mentioned he’s very good at or he’s decent at everything I think he’s a little bit raw I don’t see number one defenseman from I see maybe more like a two or a three so that’s definitely going to put him just in from the upside perspective a notch below these other amazing defensemen that are in this draft um but I actually really wouldn’t be surprised if he’s one of the first defenseman takes I think teams will covet kind of what he brings and the safy behind picking him because he’s another guy that like I think he’s a shoe in for second pairing um I really don’t see much below that because he’s got pretty much everything in his game to fit there and I think you can trust him probably even at the NHL level awesome Jules you’re number 12 um Cole Eiserman um to me again he’s a pure sniper and I think at the beginning of the year I understood the concerns of like he just scores goals and he never passes but like he scores goals really well like he knows how to shoot the puck and and I think if the sherks are there like basically everything what Mark said and I think if the sharks are there at 14 you should absolutely take him because him and s brini s brini defensively responsible can compliment each other very well and again the sherks have a lot lot of Playmakers we have Eckland we have Smith um they need someone who can finish and he’s definitely an option and he’s one of he is the best shooter in the draft in my opinion awesome uh mark You’re Number 13 uh Michael brandzig neard um mbn as I will refer to him since his name is so long um so approve he is another guy who I think could jump into the NHL fairly soon um I don’t know if anybody watched him in the World Championships but this guy’s a beast like he’s a man already this guy he’s just physical defensively responsible but also has offensive abilities it’s like everything you could possibly want right and a prospect at this point in the draft so for me um oh one other piece he’s kind of like ainla in that he’s got that Greer mold he’s a fighter on the ice and not in the physical um fist punching sense but more so like he battles he battles in every situation um so I would be very very happy and he’s one of the guys that I’m circling for number 14 if we don’t move at all because I think he’ll be available in that range but I think he’d be an amazing addition to the prospects the sharks have Jules you have him at the same rank so anything you want to add I have a couple questions then after that he’s a he’s another guy behind uh like him and Eiserman are two guys that I really like to Target for the sharks at 14 he he he’s like I think someone some one of the scouts that I was listening to he’s like a he glues a line together like for example if you have Smith and musty like he can make that line work he’s the glue that holds that line together he just makes everyone around him better with the little things he does and he’s absolutely a Mike weer molded player like if this was made in a factory Mike would make this player a lot of a lot of so I’m just kind of going through the the rankings here a lot of guys have him um a little bit higher outside of the top 15 why why would um why do you guys think that might be the case for a lot of these scouting surfaces having them other than future considerations which has them at 12 uh a lot of people have them 16 to 20 limited offensive upside he’s not GNA be a first liner um I think at best he’s a second liner um at worst he’s probably a high-end third liner okay um obviously unless he busts but in trajectory to the NHL I think he very much fits in the middle six as opposed to the top three High floor guy yeah he’s a high yeah he’s definitely he’s like he’s a safe pick and I think that’s why people have a little lower but like he has a really good shot that is like at this point I think a little underrated also like I don’t know if there was a clip of him at uh world just sniping it fully on and breaking a water bottle but uh yeah okay so what I’m going to do for the last two because you guys kind the same two people but they’re kind of inverted so we’re just gonna talk I’m just gonna say one and then the other um so the number 14 pick on Mark’s list is Carter yakimchuk uh Jules has him at 15 um Mark I’ll let you go first on Carter yakimchuk um for me yakimchuk is kind of the last one in the defenseman who kind of bring a bit of offense and defense um they’re obviously a bunch of other still good defensemen in this draft but he’s kind of the last of this group and for me I think he’s just got a B bunch more questions to his game than the rest um I’ve seen some people rate him a little too high for me that I just don’t understand so I don’t know what they’re seeing that I haven’t and that most of the other industry has yeah same Kino has met five and I’m like what and I think um I don’t know if you guys follow Cory pman I think he had him at like three or four and I’m just like I can not imagine in my mind picking him over these other defensemen um that high but that being said like he does have a lot of tools and a lot of weapons that I think translate to the NHL game and he did just have a very big offensive season um I just don’t love his skating and I think he is a project he he’s a guy that’s going to take a lot of work from the team to develop into something very useful as opposed to some of these other defensemen where it’s going to take minimal um work from the the club that drafts him Erin I see your question and I’ll definitely get to it after uh we wrapped this up here um Carter yakimchuk go ahead Jules what’s uh you don’t like Carter yakimchuk I’m surprised he’s even on your list I don’t love him but like I I I like him enough to put him on my list I don’t I don’t want the Sharks to pick him to be honest with you the decision making really concerns me with him sometimes um he’s basically a fourth forward on the ice I’m just going to be honest like he dangles like a forward and I’m shocked he isn’t a forward at this point because the dangles this man pull sometimes looks like a forward is dangling on the ice just defensively I don’t love him um but he is a project and I think if you hit him he has Boomer bus potential and if he boom if he booms it if he booms you’re getting a really good defenseman there it just it’s a very long project with him um decision making I think has been like I think the one thing that I’ve read like over and over and over again it seems like decision making is like the big knock on his game but he’s six foot three right-handed and all the GMS are like salivate over that I don’t St Omar and all the vital all right uh and then to uh round out Mark’s list uh is Becket seneki who he has at 15 uh Jules has him at 14 I guess Jules I’ll let you go first on this one uh Becket seneki always like that one offensive Riser um and the main re like he’s like that power forward he grew from like 511 to 6’2 this guy I will say has really good P oh my God English has really good Puck protection like he can keep on the puck on his stick even like when he’s basically going feels like through Defenders so he has some good handles I think once he learned how to use his frame a bit he has a potential to be a Topline forward and a really good power forward but I’m always a little skeptical of those late risers that just suddenly appear after just one good playoffs I want to see him string this together a little bit but he definitely has all the potential in the world which is why he’s at 14 for me go ahead Mar yeah and for me I think the last comment you made is like my big thing I’m always very very skeptical about late risers like if you look at this guy middle of the Season he would have been in the conversation for the shark second round pick um but he did have a very very good final month and then a fantastic playoffs now when it comes to actually watching him I I love his Puck skills he is fun to watch so I think there’s a lot of upside there and if the Sharks Come Away with him at 14 I won’t be upset um I think any of these names I’ll be pretty happy with that 14 but I think there are just other players here that I think his name he’s gotten too high in some people’s lists I mean people have him in the top 10 um I don’t know how you push some of those other names down with this guy above him but again if sharks get him at 14 I’ll be happy if we traded up and took him I’d be pretty upset yeah okay before we switch gear here I just want to say I I miss this and I apologize I donated $1.99 we appreciate the super chats as always thank you very much I apologize for missing that um but I did want to acknowledge it before um we got too far so let’s talk about the 14th pick actually there’s a question I want to get to first and then well I’ll kind of get us going Aaron Jack’s asking what do you guys think Mario Ferraro is worth in a trade because see this is the thing for me like I hate when like I feel like when we talk about like our prospects like our guys I feel like I can never get that right like you talk you point to a player on another team and I’m like yeah this is great but I feel like my team because I always find that I’m either overrating or underrating and I think in Mario Ferraro’s case I think I would underrate what he might get in a return I don’t know where where are you guys at with Mario Ferraro I’m going to give full props to AJ for saying this the Sharks won’t value for him as a number one defenseman he’s not a number one defenseman and he’s playing way above his head like half the nights he’s a number three or four defenseman and the sharks are valuing him as a one defenseman and as they I mean I guess as they should because they’ve been playing him in that um but I think to me if you can get a late first like one of those teams and a GM feels like you know he’s still a young defenseman has term on his contract I think a late first and a maybe a b-level prospect feels about right for him and I still feel like that’s overvaluing him so I don’t know Mark yeah for me I think late first is kind of where I would Target him the way it always works for me is think of it this way if you trade him for a second round pick and then you use that second round pick aren’t you kind of hoping they turn into Mario Ferraro or better right like yeah and the chance of a second round pick actually hitting is somewhere in like the 20% range right so for me I think I’m trading either feraro for a another known commodity so either an NHL player similar age or I’m trading him as part of a package or I’m trading him for like a late first round pick if there’s a guy you really want there so like that scenario earlier where it was I think 14 Ferraro and 44 for seven I think it was personally I still think that’s way too much to give up um but I would entertain the idea there because it’s a package and he’s kind of boosting something to us to maybe getting an elite level Prospect um but I I I’m I’m very much on the fence as to whether he’s a guy you should trade I think he just needs better players above him pushing him back down into that like fourth or fifth defenseman role but I think he could really thrive in that role and he’s a young guy who’s really good in the locker room which I personally think is extremely underrated across the board by people um who aren’t obviously playing in the NHL but those glue guys do a lot for a team um and they bring people together and I think they’re really important I sorry Ian go no I was gonna say like my gripe with Mario Ferraro is I don’t question the engine the engine clearly runs I just like I always come back to I just don’t know if there’s anyone behind the wheel the decisions are tough yeah I just that’s the pro that’s the like I don’t I don’t question Mario ferrar’s give a [ __ ] meter I don’t question his work ethic I just question the decision making um with him and I think it like and for me right like I would I I don’t think you would get much for him because I’m kind of sour on the player again and again I think it’s like you guys said I mean you look at that you look up and down that blue line he’s being asked to probably do too much given his skill set and I think that’s part of the problem so I will throw this trade at you or not really trade just hype there’s a few shutdown defenseman and what I mean by shutdown defenseman I mean they can still transition Puck forward a guy like EJ Emery I look at in this draft as having that like really good defensively shut down role um it was a beast at the combine that dude broke so many records at the combine but like you look at a team like Toronto who at is trying in a win now mode let’s say the sherks offer you know Ferraro to the Leafs in exchange for like uh their first round pick and you can kind of get I don’t want to say am Mario forar replacement down the road but there are some like shutdown defenseman in the draft that the shark should Target especially late in that first round so I wouldn’t be mad if they did trade foro and are able snag one of those guys if that makes sense I’m not saying we should trade forar I’m just saying in Mike Greer’s head what could be going on is you know you could get a guy like Ben Danford or EJ I think again like and and here’s my thing right like Aaron Jackson is goingon to bring up that he does block a lot of shots but you know why you’re blocking shots because the Puck’s in your Zone you can’t get constantly getting shots against you exactly right like I and again I think it’s like it’s just F so who do you guys like if if you guys are Mike career it’s the 14th overall pick who’s on the board who who who do you who would you really like who thinks who do you think is the guy that you would really want if without you know like I don’t know I mean if you if if you think that a player is is not there then probably don’t mention that name but at 14 realistically who are you guys hoping falls to the sharks at 14 for me it’s mbn uh BRZ negard and then Cole eer those are two that I think are realistic to be in that range um that I’d be happy to take I’m also cool with Becket seneki Jules I literally had the same answers but I’m just gonna I’ll throw one more in there San soberg okay I know that’s a little high for him but he’s another guy that is a hitting machine and I kid you not you go watch some of his highlights he reverse hits like grown men and it’s really funny but he’s just a Mike Greer type like player and I think he has a potential to be a top four defenseman so don’t be surprised he’s risen up like crazy so I’m not really endorsing this but don’t be surprised if he’s another guy that if the Sharks took him at 14 I can absolutely see why they did that do they trade up this where I get interesting Dom lisions draft pick value chart value uh packaging the 14th and 33rd um could get you up into the sixth rank now does it we don’t that’s just the model right um do you guys trade up so I have two approaches for this draft and it involves two different situations of trading up I think we are in a position where we no longer need an abundance of prospects over the last few drafts we have loaded loaded in the picks in the first second third or so rounds we’ve got a lot of prospects now what we need is high-end prospects so this is one of those years where what we’ve got 114 and 33 I would very much so be in favor of either trading up from 14 to get a guy that you either see falling or just someone who’s meant to go like eight or nine and you really want them kind of similar to what I was saying earlier with ainla um or one of the defensemen from the top like Bo if he somehow drops to like seven or eight but I would also be fine with us sticking at 14 and then pairing our two seconds to move back into the mid to late of the first round so the names that Jules mentioned ear like EJ em and then also soberg if he’s in that range I think soberg is mostly projected between 15 and say 25 right okay if we can trade into the late portions of the first round pick and get one of those guys while also using our first and 14th I think you’re getting three guys who are meant to be impact players um so I think this is a draft where we absolutely should not sit where we are for all four picks unless we somehow get lucky with guys dropping um I think it’s the year where you target getting the best players you possibly can um I don’t mind trading up especially if it’s a like for like to get one of your like if you get like zeve buam and he’s project he’s one of the guys we project to get number one I’m totally fine with you trading like seven and not seven Jesus 14 and 33 to trade up I am more of a fan of trading up back into the first round then I am a fan of trading up if that makes sense into the top 10 yeah okay cu sh shang’s saying like you want Willam like the we’ll have to overpay is what Shang says that probably is true I mean he’s he’s probably not right I mean not wrong rather he’s probably not right he’s probably not wrong there I mean yeah he’s probably not whatever um so here here’s a question I have right because I think there’s always like a a situation here where I think that if like sometimes your your gu’s just not there right I think that’s what happened in uh the maybe was it the Beast dead d I think maybe the guy probably wasn’t there that they wanted how far do you do you trade back uh in the draft and if so how far is too far like if you’re if your if your guy isn’t there at 14 how far is too far to trade back where you think that maybe there’s where the drop off might be right where if you instead of you know maybe you’ll get more players but they’re not going to be of the caliber of something you could have taken at 14 like where’s too fars that makes does that question make sense yeah um I have a so I’m going to say this I’m going to might get backlash I have a feeling sharks probably trade back rather than trade up in this draft I do too because it feels like if M if MB ‘s off the board if Cole eisman’s off the board like I don’t think Greer is the type of GM to necessarily reach on a guy with his 14th overall pick so I think if like eight I think the Chicago Blackhawks are a good trade back candidate uh because they have the 18th overall and that feels like still like the sweet spot like you could get a guy like soberg in that category or a guy like Liam greenre for example it feels like in that category um so I think 18 and then if we really decides to go crazy maybe you look at Nashville at 22 but that’s the lowest I would trade and 22 was pulling it like I would like to stay in the teens so as long as you stay in the teens maybe trade back one to two maybe three spots I think that’s okay but yeah Mark yeah for me I think it just from a a franchise perspective doesn’t make sense at this point I think we’ve done that and we’ve done it in drafts where we got the additional picks um and I think if you look at a lot of the other players that follow like our top 15 list I think there’s a drastic drop off once you get to like 17 or 18 um I mean they’re names that I definitely like there don’t get me wrong we like the defenseman Adam e we like um is another one we already mentioned um a couple of the other defensemen that we like and these are guys that I think it would be the opposite I think you’d be somewhat reaching for them at 18 and I don’t think we need additional second round picks we’ve got the second round picks this year we’ve got two first round picks next year we’ve got a second round pick next year I think what we really need to do is focus on getting those huge pieces to build around um but if they do happen to decide that it gets to 14 and like I always trust the GM whoever you guys have on your list is fine so let’s say they get to 14 and the guys that Greer wants are gone and you say you got an offer from another team that’s going to give you maybe you drop three or four spots and you get a second round pick or whatever listen I’m not gonna complain they are in they are lottery tickets so you just having more of them isn’t a bad thing but I just think this is the year to trade up as opposed to trading down yeah cool all right um I think another question that we had earlier in the chat um was about goal tending obviously think goal tending if you look at the Sharks Prospect pool that is the one hole um very obvious hole in our in in the prospect system I like Magnus Crona but I don’t see starter there Georgie Romanov I’m not sure again I like I like the goalies on the Barracuda but I’m not so in love with them that I think oh man these guys are the the next guys yeah they they could be um I think there is a level of there is still level of voodoo goalies where they kind of do weird things sometimes and come out of nowhere um a goalie that I’ve seen a lot of chatter about um he’s definitely one of the oldest players in the draft and that is the um mnor scoli Ilan nabaka of no relation to ofgi I feel like I need to throw that out there um just so like we it’s it’s not he’s not related to ofgi we don’t need to have him because he’s a get n like it’s it’s nothing like that however he did have really stupid numbers in the the KHL where do you guys see a guy like that going and is he is he a guy that you would take a swing on knowing what the Sharks Prospect pool is and knowing what the timeline kind of looks like now with at least Will Smith turning pro we don’t know about celebrini yet but there are you know there is obviously the clock has started now to turn this around um I was wondering what your thoughts are on uh him because when I was kind of like ah if you can throw a late pick and people like you dummy you can’t turn you can’t take a late pick on this guy look at his numbers I’m like Oh my God look at his numbers um so yeah um here here’s my thought on this year’s goalie class it sucks it does yeah it’s not um it’s not a good goalie class I don’t think I’m an outlier for saying that like there’s no yes for wall that there’s no Sebastian Kaa this year that’s just like you know Bonafide like for sure going to be a starter like an elite goenda down the road are going to be backups now watch me be wrong and one of these guys that I’ve never heard of is gonna [ __ ] turn into a monster and be the next Andre vasileski um listen if the sherks want to spend a fourth round because they have two of them and maybe it’s the pick that they traded away Aiden Hill with um to snag a guy like IL iakov I wouldn’t be upset as long as he doesn’t have shitty numbers from the ch I’m fine with it I still don’t think this is the draft to draft a goalie but we don’t have anyone younger than 23 so if he if you feel like he’s the best player on your board why not that’s my thought Mark yeah um my answer is pretty much always the same with the whole drafting goalies thing and it’s F no like you just don’t draft goalie in the top two rounds in my opinion unless unless it’s those guys who’s like askarov or walstead the guarantees at getting an HL goalie but yeah for me goalies are a no I’m I’m fine using fourth fifth sixth seventh round yeah Pi on them fine they’re lot and I don’t think there’s one me is worth a pick so yeah umon with the with the 499 Super Chat how many years or time prior to a draft do we know know that it’s going to be a very deep draft like 2003 in 2013 usually I’d say usually like I’d say usually a couple years before you kind of have you kind of start getting an idea of what the class is going to look like I feel like that’s the like a year or two yeah like we were talking about celini um and Eiserman and a few of these other guys for a couple of years now yeah and the badar draft same thing same yeah I mean like Gavin can 2026 is getting ridiculous hype already also so yeah 20 like it’s 2025 I think is going to be an interesting draft 20 like you think next year’s draft is is going to be deeper than this draft off the top of your heads be more go ahead Jules depending where we draft I think there’s a chance we can draft our number one defenseman um I think it’ll be more competition for the top three or four that’s the way I look at it like I think this year after you get past one there’s a bit of a drop off um not to say those players aren’t very good but I think next year there’ll be two or three guys in the conversation for number one but um still it’s early to say like if you remember Will Smith like he wasn’t originally part of the top three top four guys top five guys and then he was considered like possibly as high as number two or three depending on which team was drafting there so it’s like a lot changes over the six to 12 months leading into the draft Yeah uh but I like the 25 draft again there’s a good defenseman there and if the shark should be bottom five so maybe we get our future defenseman there I don’t know yeah I mean I guess that’s the one thing like I I I think that was the one thing I kind of wanted to to as we kind of wind this up here I think like what are your expectations for the Sharks next year um based on like potential OB I think I think like obviously Celine is the the the only guy in this draft I think where the sharks are currently picking that I think is going to be like a guy who can immediately jump obviously um but let’s say let’s say celebrini you know does decide to turn pro what what what should be the the expectations for this team next year um just don’t get blown out 10 to one and back to back like I wanna this is kind of plan the parade yeah exactly Mass this is kind of what I said this morning oh Jesus that was this morning but this is kind of what I said like I just want to see a competitive team and I don’t mean like you don’t have to win every game five nothing I just I don’t want blowouts I want the kids to develop I want to make sure we’re developing these kids in the right manner we’re going to have two very young basically children in our lineup for most of the Year let’s be a little better defensively please and not like do weird [ __ ] defensively like you’re playing the Xbox um just like overall I just want us for us not to get blown out t to one like the bar is so low and I and I would just like to see these kids develop so like I think 25 wins very reasonable in my opinion yeah Mark um and I’ll ask you the same question and also since um we haven’t gotten your take yet uh Ryan rovski obviously hired as the new head coach uh thoughts on that and then expectations for next year sure um I think the coaching hire is a good move I personally was partial to Sturm just because I liked him so much as a player but I think the hire is good he’s been talked about rovski as like one of the next waves of good coaches for um a few years now so I’m interested to see what he can do and I think he’s also a pretty good developmental coach which is important for where the sharks are um in terms of next year it’s actually a really tricky question because it’s very much a summer where I’m expecting Greer to be active and I think depending on what he does really heavily influences where I think the Sharks will finish that being said I do not see a situation where they finish outside of the bottom 10 I still think they’re going to be in the bottom 10 I don’t think they’re realistically like a chance of like the playoff race but um depending on how some of these guys translate who he brings in um if a few other guys develop a little bit further if we’re sellers at the deadline I feel like some of those things could really impact where we finish um so if I was to guess today I’d say we probably finish somewhere around sixth or seventh from the bottom of the NHL yeah I think for me the the problem for for me is that I don’t think the Blue Line’s going to change very much if you look at cat friendly before it disappears forever um there’s you know unless unless G moves guys which could always happen but I think if you look at the guys who are likely coming back I don’t think that blue line is going to see a significant change which to me is that’s not good that doesn’t translate to winning uh unfortunately you know to the point where like I don’t know if there’s room for Muka Mulan even on that blue line and I think he’s a guy who had like see take that next step um and for that reason yeah I think it like I think it’s going to be a rough year but I I I would prefer it to be a rough year where at least it’s it’s watchable at least more watchable than it was last year I think that’s the that’s the problem right like can they be watchable this year please just please just a little just no 10 one that’s all I ask 32 42 empty fine whatever just let’s not allow 10 goals yeah and B plug saying like Barry Bros I mean absolutely they they can absolutely send guys to the Barracuda and that’s that’s definitely an option and I again I well Camp is so far away but that’s just like John McCarthy here’s an early birthday present that is my just at a glance this is the that’s kind of my take on the team as of right now obviously um so as far as the draft goes because obviously that’s the next big thing uh we are going to be all over the place um there’s going to be there’s going to be we’re going to do our usual live stream for the whole draft which is it’s going to be super fun it’s going to be me and Mark here for sure uh and then other people everywhere else um so I’m hoping that you guys will tune in for that and then the day after for after the second day um that evening we’ll probably do like a a recap show where we kind of have all our thoughts collected and we’ll kind of go through that so that is what’s next coming from tealtown unless some more news breaks although I don’t know what could possibly be at that point being as the the head coach has been decided um other than that though I think uh I’m excited for this draft I mean this is you know um it’s finally time to talk about the draft they didn’t want to talk about the draft in October but but we’re here now and uh this is this is what I want to talk about with the draft um any final thoughts you guys want to give before we get before we get out of here shout out Cole Hudson he’s another guy man I really like um but no that that was it yeah final thoughts for me I think um it’s going to be a very exciting draft and it’s not even just because we have the first pick I really do think the Sharks will be active I think this is one of those years where you might see some moves um so at any point I think you could be waiting for bman to make his announcement and then have the Sharks on the clock so as a sharks fan after number one you still have plenty of time to be excited even through the end of the first round I am being informed we also have a very we will have a special the morning of the 26th uh uh so stay tuned for that I don’t know what it is but uh stay tuned for that so yeah um that is it we will see you one you can always add something I think the sharks have the best Prospect pool after this draft there’s my hot take there you go and I like it I I want that to be true I really want that to be true all right uh in case you miss this or you want to watch it again be sure to you know hit us up uh on all the social media platforms uh you can always find this as well as anything else we do on
