  1. What about on-ice officials? I can’t remember if they were all mandated to wear helmets or if they were grandfathered in? Looks like Paul Stewart in the background of this picture.

  2. Because of his lack of playing with a helmet, I’m sure Oilers fans believe he made his awful moves as Oilers GM with brain damage.

  4. I remember an article where he said he wore a helmet up until the time when he was the last player allowed to wear a helmet, only then did he go hatless.

  5. Mactavish is a POS. In 1984 he pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide and driving under the influence after he slammed into the rear end of Kim Radley – RIP

  6. I remember seeing him playing back then and while it look crazy for many, lets not forget many refs played without helmets as well back then.
