2024 NHL Mock Draft – Celebrini Is A Shark, But Who Goes Second?

here we are back again for another NHL draft season and I couldn’t be more excited while this year’s class may not be as historically stacked as last season’s it’s still a really interesting group will we see a run on defenseman in the top 10 as GMS feel the need to draft their guy hint I think so but that isn’t to sell this forward group short as more and more teams and brace speed and systems that favor attacking in transition forward prospects this year are really starting to look different than in past drafts as smarts and playmaking at speed are becoming the more sought after qualities as with my past mock drafts this video is part Mock and part Prospect rankings with the top picks being more deliberately Chosen and the later Parts more Prospect rankings with a best on theboard approach as always make sure to like this video so other hockey fans can find it subscribe to the channel so you don’t miss more of our draft content and leave a comment down below with your takes and without further Ado my name is Dylan I was a WHL Scout for 5 years and this is my 2024 NHL mock draft with the first pick in the draft the San Jose Sharks select Macklin celebrini out of Boston University the culmination of a Year’s worth of work ends here with the sharks drafting celebrini the franchise still has a way to go but at adding the draft’s best player and one who can be a steady reliable piece down the middle and a productive one at that for a decade plus to build around is going to accelerate their timeline hopefully his history as a junior shark helps win back some fans earlier too with the second pick in the draft the Chicago Blackhawks select Ivan demidov out of ska St Petersburg pick two is where the draft really starts and while I think leev shov is a special player and would be a great addition to what the Blackhawks are building I’m a firm believer in taking the best on the board and that is demov the most dynamic and skilled player in the draft he would give Chicago an absolutely broken offensive pair playing alongside Connor Bard the only question is whether they think it’ll be hard to get him out of Russia in a timely matter say next off season if Chicago believes they can they should go for it if not though L shov will be the pick and not a bad one with the third pick the Anaheim Ducks select arton leonov from Michigan State the Ducks Draft is easy just take whoever the Blackhawks pass on between demidov and leonov in this case they get the big two-way defenseman who will be able to step in and Lead an already solid group of young defensive prospects more Firepower up front would be nice in Anaheim particularly depending on the return they get when trading Trevor zis but they got that in Cutter go last year and verbi is too smart to let a player like love shov passing by with the fourth pick the Columbus Blue Jackets select Anton silv from torpedo Novgorod Columbus already has a strong group of young defensemen but none are like SV he’s big and already has a professional track record of sound and solid defending pairing him with offensively minded blue Liners in either Ur or matechuk has to be a popular idea in the Blue Jackets front office because it makes too much sense like the Ducks they could use another top prospect up front but I think Kaden lindstrom’s injury history and sv’s potential mean that this is the way they go speaking of Lindstrom with the fifth pick the Montreal Canadians select Kaden Lindstrom The Medicine Hat tigers with the four players I have going already off the board Lindstrom becomes the no-brainer pick here his injury history is scary but he’s made good progress there and the Outlook is optimistic on all fronts so looking at the player he is on the ice he’s fantastic a big centerman who knows how to use his substantial size and has a scoring touch to boot it’s just what the doctor ordered for this Canadians team and their Pipeline with the six pick the Utah Hockey Club selects ziv buam the University of Denver Utah would love for SV to be on the board here but if he’s gone I think they go with buo young an extremely exciting to watch offensive defenseman that they would be thrilled to have as they grow their fan base in Utah with a million offensive prospects already in their cupboard his more NHL ready game and Championship aate over at Denver give him an edge over perk for the Utah Hockey Club in my mind with pick seven the Ottawa Senators select zann perk of the sagov spirit Ottawa needs a fair bit of help Prospect wise but I don’t think they’ll be able to pass on the enticing highlight reel on skates that is Zan perek as a franchise in need of some more Firepower and excitement a puck mover with the offensive capabilities of perek could be just what the doctor ordered even if it’ll take some time before he’s ready to help the NHL Squad with the eighth pick the Seattle Kraken selects Sam Dickinson of the London Knights the Kraken have done a great job of drafting and developing in their young history but their Prospect pool has a glaring weakness and that’s on the blue line Dickinson doesn’t just provide solid future Blue Line depth for theow in but would give them someone in the system that could be a force attacking in transition to help their offensive issues as well with the ninth pick of the draft the Calgary Flames select Iginla of the Colona Rockets yes yes I too have the scenario so many want to see happen as the Flames go with Iginla could he go sooner absolutely he had a fantastic season and showed incredible Improvement as it went showing how good he is at adapting and improving but if Ottawa goes with the defender I think this becomes the reality and Calgary gets a skilled forward who should score a lot of goals for them in the future at Pick 10 the New Jersey Devils go with Cole Eiserman of the US national development team Eiserman is such an interesting Prospect he’s the best pure goal scorer in the draft class but his play has so many questions about effort or playing a team game that he could easily fall out of the top 10 I don’t think he will because I think New Jersey will gamble on the goalscoring talent to go with their Playmakers and Trust in the leadership they have in the room to help turn him into a pro player with pick 11 I think the Buffalo sabes go with Berkeley katten of the Spokane Chiefs Buffalo still needs more Firepower up front and after the impressive rookie season from Zack Benson I think they go back to The Well of small but supremely skilled WHL players in Katen he brings a strong work ethic to with Incredible playmaking and should help get the puck to the big bodies the Sabres have down the middle for a long time with the 12th pick the Philadelphia Flyers select cona helenus of ukrit Philly is in the spot of taking best player available with a slight lean towards forward so I think they go with the smart and dynamic fin helenus has one of if not the highest hockey IQs in this draft and that will help him overcome any concerns about his size his competitive fire and strong work ethic should win over everyone in the Flyers building too pick 13 the Minnesota Wild select Carter yakam cheuck of the Calgary Hitman I may not be sold on the big mean and Slick scoring Dem man but I know a handful of NHL general managers will be including some in the top 10 and I think Bill Gan is one of them yakimchuk has the dangles and the big hits but his defensive positioning discipline and lack of the necessary defensive nuances give me lot of Paws but if any organization will believe in him it’s Minnesota with the 14th pick the San Jose Sharks select Becket senica of the ashaa generals the sharks have their main Future Stars down the middle so now with this pick they can grab someone to help fill things in around them senica has a big body and he knows how to use it protecting the puck while driving to the slot or to open up passing Lanes to his teammates in good scoring positions he may not have Superstar potential but he looks apart for a Superstars running bank and that’s what the Sharks need now with the 15th selection the Detroit Red Wings select Michael Brans seg nyard of Mora nyard is a pro ready expert four Checker who may lack some of the high-end upside of other prospects but is a guaranteed NHL who will give other teams fits that is not to say that he lacks talent and his production spiked in the playoffs while he maintained his disruptive game Stevie loves players with his work ethic and Detroit could use a menace in a good way out there with pick 16 the St Louis Blues select Trevor connley the Tri City storm connley is a solid Prospect who has fallen a little this draft season because nothing jumps off the tape about him he makes good decisions has some scoring touch is responsible defensively he just doesn’t ooze highlight real footage but I don’t think St Louis will care so solid and consistent above average production is nothing to sneeze at and this is an organization that knows that with the 17th selection the Washington Capitals select Michael hag of the Chicago steel as the capitals continue their soft rebuild they have two glaring needs Prospect wise Center and defenseman so this pick could go either way but I think they lean with boosting things down the middle with heg over in Adam Urich heg is a fast Dynamic center with a lot of potential that a lot of teams should be interested in adding to their organization with the 18th selection the Chicago Blackhawks select Adam Ur from HC Pleasant with the Blackhawks opting for demidov earlier in my mock I think they use this pick to address the Blue Line the younger EUR is a gifted playmaker who can walk the blue line and find teammates anywhere in the offensive zone with a variety of passing techniques while still having a 62 frame adding him to a power play with Bard and neov should keep rival coaches up at night with the 19th pick the Vegas gold Knights select Liam Green Tree the Windsor Spitfires despite the fact that we all know whoever Vegas drafts will just be traded in two years at the deadline I think they take green tree if he’s available which admittedly is a big if his ability to attack off the rush would fit perfectly with Vegas’s transitional offensive approach and his size can come in handy for the many playoff runs they’ll be on with the 20th pick the New York Islanders select ston soberg of valanga what does the general manager who thinks he already has everything do he goes out and gets a big mean Norwegian who skates surprisingly well for his impressive size while laying waste to everyone in his path if he’s on board for L at 20 I think he pulls the trigger to make his team even meaner come their Springtime playoff runs with the 21st pick the LA Kings select Cole Bodwin of the Barry Colts as much as I would love to mock eigor chernishov here as the Kings could use the high-end skill I think a GM on the razer’s edge will opt for the safer bet in bodn a competitor in all three zones who knows how to use his size to bully his way into good scoring areas is something the Kings have experience with and I think Rob Blake will go back to that well with the 22 pick the Nashville Predators select eigor chernishov Dynamo Mosa Nashville has shown the last few drafts that they value skill in the first round over anything else and I think they stick to that strategy here chernishov has high level shooting and passing skills with an aggressive attack off the rush approach to go with his impressive size he could really turn into a nasty tough to handle power forward in the right system or place and I think Nashville would love to be that place with the 23rd pick the Toronto Maple Leafs select Sasha Bo of the lasan Lumberjacks general manager Brad Tre living likes guys with size and the ability to throw it around and boy ver has that to go along with a sneaky good skill game Toronto is operating from an interesting place this off season with their core but assuming no big changes are made drafting a player who looks to project like a very good depth Center capable of doing whatever is asked is not a bad approach with pick 24 the Colorado Avalanche select eigor Surin of Loco you’re a slavo Colorado has hit on their playoff strategy get strong forwards with scoring touch to the inside with netf front or in the slot and have their skilled players make the tough passes from the perimeter into them the problem with that they don’t have enough of those inside strong driving forwards at least not with the future of Val NuSkin in the air so I think they take another one in Surin who has the skill to play with their offensive weapons and the strength to exist on the inside with the 25th selection the Ottawa Senators select Ryder Richie of the Prince Albert Raiders with my mock having them go defenseman earlier I think they take it Forward here in Richie a well balanced offensive threat who can play with anyone could be what the Senators need in the pipeline with the 26th pick the Montreal Canadians select Charlie ellic of the Brandon Wheat Kings with them drafting a center earlier they can add to their stockpile of Blue Line prospects here with the best on the board W and elic a fantastic skater giving him a rangy style of game combined with his active stick makes him a serious deterrent to team’s trying to win in transition with the 27th selection the Carolina Hurricanes select EJ Emory of the US development team Carolina is going to have a reckoning on the back end these next two off Seasons so they should probably start adding more homegrown talent to the pipeline em gives them a solid Defender who is technically sound and should smoothly trans position into Rod brendor system where he can then round out his game think of him as a future Chris tanet type with the 28th pick the Calgary Flames select Teddy Stiga of the US national development team just missing on a pair of defensemen I think Calgary takes best on the board and draft Stiga super skilled and the ultimate complimentary piece to a star forward I think he and ainla could grow into quite the dynamic duo in the Flames organization with the 29th pick the Dallas star select Andrew Basha The Medicine Hat Tigers quick and high energy Basha has near zero bus potential his scoring and especially his playmaking are very good and he’s proven he can be a dominant player’s running mate while maintaining the style and work ethic of a bottom six player with the 30th pick in the draft the New York Rangers select Nikita artamonov of torpedo Novgorod ardam manov is an exceptionally smart player and if you don’t believe me the fact that he played the majority of the year in the KHL should be evidence enough because of his playmaking from either Wing I can’t think of a better Mentor than the star they have in the Big Apple already with the 31st pick the Anaheim Ducks select jet luchenko of the gulf storm I may not be as high on lenk’s skill level as some NHL teams so don’t be surprised if he goes higher than this but his ability to make the game a more back and forth up and down the ice game is impressive and could be valuable come playoff time especially as transitional attacks are becoming more invogue 32nd overall the Philadelphia Flyers select Cole Hudson of the US national development team with the last pick I think the Flyers take a swing at Hudson for some more offense from the back end Hudson can dish the puck and has a sneaky good shot and hey if the Flyers do take him day one it would make a great 18th birthday present and and there you have it do you agree with my thoughts about an early run on defenseman or am I selling forwards like ainla and Cat and short let me know in the comments below and while you’re down there like And subscribe to the channel and I’ll see you all draft night [Music]

It’s that time of year again as the 2024 NHL Draft rapidly approaches on Jun 28th. In honor of draft season, here is my 2024 NHL Mock Draft! We all know Macklin Celebrini is going first overall to the San Jose sharks, but who will the Chicago Blackhawks take at 2? Ivan Demidov? Artyom Levshunov? What about where players like Cayden Lindstrom, Zeev Buium, Zayne Parekh or Tij Iginla go? I have my thoughts, but would love to hear yours down in the comments!

  1. Good mock! However I do see Columbus going forward considering how jacked up their defensive roster is, and considering they’re gonna trade Laine. You have sold me on Dickinson, and if he’s there at 8, unless if someone like Demidov falls, he’s gotta be the pick.

  2. Thanks Dylan we appreciate it very much. Time for me to watch your and RJ’s Deep Dive brought to us by the world famous Queen Anne Beer Hall💙

  3. Once the draft order was set, I was hoping the Kraken could get Zeev Buium with the 8th pick (most seem to think like yours that he will go 6th or 7th), but the more I see Dickinson. I really like his game, especially when he adds 15/20 pounds of muscle to be that anchor pushing bodies around in front of the net and it looks like he has enough offensive skill to be the 1 defenseman to assist on the power play.

  4. This is the most realistic mock I’ve watched. It’s going to be d heavy all the way to eight. I’m hoping one more offensive player comes off the board at 1-7…that would give one more shot at the D-apple. If lindstrom falls because of injury concerns, do you see Seattle taking him?

  5. As a Capitals fan I would prefer Jiricek, but I am happy with Hage as you project. I don't want Yakemchuk or Connelly because I am worried about them on defense.

  6. Sabres can live with Carton but something tells me they will get bigger with the 11th pick. Sabre's do have a lot of small quick skilled forwards already. Time will tell though.

  7. You were a WHL scout. What’s your opinion on Kevin Korchinski? I thought he was rushed to the NHL last season and should have been returned to Seattle in the WHL.

  8. Awesome analysis. One thought for Nashville would be to try to trade up considering the stockpile of picks they have available. If Trotz wanted to get really aggressive and Catton or Helenius are available where you have them, I wouldn't be suprised if he makes an attempt to move up the 10 or 11 spots to get one of them. Nashville really needs help at center and someone like Catton or Helenius would be exactly what Nashville would be looking for.

  9. the habs would be wiser to take a forward at 26. yeah, we'll take one at 5, but we have too many dmen already, and our best forward prospect is joshua roy. mind you, roy's a great player, and can fit in on any line and be asked to do any job, but the high-end talent of a rebuilding team's best forward prospect is usually more. of the forwards you left available at 26, i'd rather have basha or stiga. that is, if we don't trade this pick…

interesting pick of cole hutson at 32. he's…like his brother physically, but not quite as talented. lane sees the ice better. cole will still be good, it's just…with lane here, we don't need another small dman. philly's a good spot for him. they've already got an earlier 1st, and you went with a safe pick in helenius, so i like the skill bet at 32.

also interesting you took two forwards for SJ. because they need defense in a bad way. if you're right on 14, may i suggest alfons freij for the sharks at 33.

  10. with teams having a chance to talk to demidov yesterday i think he's a lock for 2nd overall no way anybody is gonna pass on him now that he's 6"1 and heavier. Also i don't understant how a guy can put out 116 point in the chl and not be top 10 atleast, this draft is so weird.
