Donovan Mitchell Could Sign Three-Year, $151M Extension With Cavs Instead Of Four-Year Deal

He would still sign for 4 with the last being a player option
Don’t see why he would settle for 3
So really just a 2 year extension? That means we’ll get a break for one offseason then be here again in summer 2026.
Fine by me. 3 years v. 4 doesn’t really matter. He’ll be in his early 30s and there’s a decent chance his game ages a bit poorly when he starts to lose some athleticism
Superstars always take guaranteed money, and then they just ask for a trade later on their more appealing longer contract. So no
(I don’t expect this to happen fwiw)
A 3 + 1 probably serves the interests of both sides the most. No way they do just a 3 year old
Isn’t this when the new tv money sets in, which would make sense if he hopes to get another max deal before he starts to fall off.
