Assuming Jones will be starting against the Cardinals on Tuesday, I love this.
Perez, Skenes, Falter, Jones. Two flamethrowing righties sandwiched between two soft throwing lefties.
Plus this means we’ll have Keller AND Jones against the cards, which is a much more important series than this one against the Braves.
I’m ok with this…Jones has been much more labile over his past 6 starts. Most noticeablyhis walk rate has increased dramatically. The word is out that he only has 2 pitches he’s confident in and now he’s trying to be perfect with those 2.
First 9 starts he had 7 walks
Last 6 starts he’s had 18
Great stuff, if he can throw a change consistently he’ll be an All Star….but the big leagues are super difficult and makes Skenes all the more remarkable in that he has 4 pitches he can throw whenever he wants.
I wonder if this will push Skenes start next week to Saturday?
I hope they use this opportunity space them out in the rotation as well, to have them not pitch back to back.
