I remember being at a game in LA when I was 9 and there was a sign hanging over the wall that said 16 + 46 = XVIII. It was correct.
Smart and clutch!!! He caught many difficult catches!!!!
Should be in the hall, but he’s a Raider, so….
Quite, been a while, but from memory (and I’m older), he was the leading receiver in the NFL for a season.
From the 1983 Raiders America’s Game, Howie Long on Todd Christensen:
“On a scale of 1 to 10, his natural physical gifts were probably a 5. On a scale of 1 to 10, what he got out of his physical gifts? It would have to be 9 & a half.”
His alteration of the jersey wouldn’t been legal nowadays. But he’s a decent blocker and really good route runner and slippery as hell to defend against. He’s much faster than the linebackers that’s expect to pick him up.
He was tough. My favorite raider as a kid. Met him and i was bold enough to ask to try on his super bowl ring. He didn’t hesitate. I was 13 and his ring was huge. Cemented me as R4L
He was basically an automatic 1st down on any third and long situation. Everyone knew he was getting the ball and nobody could stop it.
Think Kelce or Kittle but better, tougher and more handsome!!
