Oilers, Evan Bouchard Unlikely To Talk Extension This Summer

  1. He will be a restricted free agent so I am not too concerned, but the contract worth may go up significantly

  2. Going to be interesting to see if a team can have two $9+M defensemen, two forwards making $16+M and still somehow work under the cap

  3. That would be dumb, imo. People wonder why Tampa had/have guys signed to very team friendly deals and the no state tax thing only explains a portion of it. It’s because they typically (not Stamkos lol) sign their upcoming FA core pieces to extensions a year out. They don’t wait around with their dick in their hand and think the price will come down. Price only goes up, and if it ever does come down it’s because your player had a poor year which would present a whole other set of problems that you *shouldn’t* be banking on or hoping for.

  4. I know that offers to RFAs don’t happen much but man this seems like a guy who I wouldn’t want to risk it with.
