Blue Jays vs. Mariners Game Highlights (7/5/24) | MLB Highlights

even though it has been a down year for the Blue Jays that has not dampened the spirits of the fan base it would appear maybe not quite as many as in a normal year but bu as we look to our left from home plate all the way down to the foul pole it is nothing but blue J fans BC Alberta Saskatchewan Manitoba etc etc great to see the ball yeah it’s always something they mark on their calendars very very early in the off season and they plan to come down for Luis Castillo bit of a landmark day making his 200 career start this evening his 19th this year 387 ra form 103 strikeouts over 30 walks the onew and he blows it passs him upstairs a good heater out of the gates from Castillo and a nice start one down here’s Bo bashet hitting 229 and he locked him up with a slider right over the plate backto back strikeouts for Castillo to begin the night well here’s the guy to stay away from Vlad Jr batting close to 300 on the year two to to vlat junr pit swing on the back goes into the stand oh my goodness a swing in a miss and a bat went over the screen on top of the J Dugout and a guy wearing a Guerrero Jr white Guerrero Jr he comes up with that bat and gosman’s trying to figure out what’s going on with his pitches as his fast post been hit pretty hard lately his fast ball who was one of his best pitches last year that fast ball split combination was very effective for him and he Strikes Out JP Crawford on three pitches well you know what happens when you have have some doubts about your pitches and you’re trying to be perfect sometimes you’re not aggressive enough and right here he just reaches back for a little extra and hits 96 and Strikes Out Crawford went right under looks like under his left arm being E5 and am Mariners have their first base run that brings up Cal Ry this time a ground ball then it sneaks into right field Schneider can’t get to it to the Mariners stack a couple of Runners early on so the key is to hunt that Bas count Ry gets a heater and works a base hit out of it so two on in the first inning only one out and here’s Julio Rodriguez now the onew swung on and Miss tied him up inside two down now Luke rley the former Tampa Bay Ray is up Garver on second he reached on an air Cal righ on first after a single two outs this one is in the air left Center it is deep and caughts D vers caught it this is one of the best catches you will ever see because he is literally full speed when he hits that wall I mean this kid is determined to make this catch right here and look at the catch and then boom right into the wall What A Catch by Dalton V and here comes dton varo who just had one of the great catches we’ve seen all season long and he’s struck him out a fast ball over the plate fourth punch out already for Luis Castillo Davis Schneider at the second baseman Schneider Skies this out to Luke rley in left field well in front of the warning track look playing the breeze a little bit for out number three Kevin Gosman on the mound here’s his pitch to Ty France swing and a miss gsman gets France two down and now the number nine hitter third baseman Josh Roos splitter swung on and a missed second strike out in the inning fourth through two for gsman it’s still scoreless G Meer batting ninth for the Jays here’s the pitch swung on popped up short left field L really a late start now he’s under it waiting for it drops out of the blue sky he makes the grab nine up nine down facing Luis Castillo he has been sharp so far JP Crawford will lead things off against Kevin gsman 97 again and that’s the fifth strikeout tonight for gsman so the Mariners a runner at first base with two outs and here comes Julio swung on cracked on the third Baseline diving stopped by Clement throws on one hop to first base in time to just get the hustling Julio that was a great play by Clement Scott has his hand up and he wants to look at it question was was his foot on the back I think the foot was off it looked like it was just the sco off and that’s enough yeah the throw beat him but oritz playing first base tonight vlat dhing was there a spike on there and oh it looks like it’s off as we look at the side by side it looks like there is maybe an inch of daylight between a spike on the field is overturned the runner is safe there it is so the Mariners in business here two outs and here comes Luke rley maybe Luke can enact a little Revenge here he was robbed of extra bases in the first inning swung on cracked into the Gap left center field Fallen fast it’s down it’s rolling towards the wall Cal steaming around third he’s going to score Here Comes Julio racing around third he slides he’s safe Luke Ry doesn’t act as revenge on the Blue Jays Outfield three and0 on Horwitz and there’s the first base run Vlad is in a great group an Allstar again for the Blue Jays he fouls it right back to the glove of C Ry and Vlad hold on to the mat that time as he slams it down outside a home plate B strike out for Castillo Castillo has been very sharp three and 2/3 no hits one walk five strikeouts s ready deals swing and a miss had a wave it at a slider strike out number six for Luis Castillo he is on his game against the Blue Jays and there are two on for Garver now with two outs and a swing in a Miss to get him and strand the runners and no damage in this inning after the hit and the walk he strands up here strikes out his sixth here’s bar he grounded out to JP Crawford here’s the onew looking for finish off swung on popped up playable Here Comes Ty France Ty France calls off Cal makes a catch and that’s an easy breey fifth inning for Luis Castillo Kevin Gosman back on the bump facing 345 in the Mariners order foul tipped into the glove strike three fastball gets the catcher for the first out of the fifth 8ks for gsman 2-2 fast ball called strike three Gosman with 8K strikes out a pair in the bottom of the fifth and sends us to the sixth this has been Luis Castillo’s game he has been dominant so far he face Clement here the third baseman one base runner so far for the Blue Jays Castillo’s retired 15 of 16 in the fourth inning a leadoff walk swung on a chopper third by side backand roas gets to his feet fires to First in time he’s got the out brilliant play by Josh Roos that’s 16 of 17 retired one out here in the sixth inning Gary that was a brilliant play K Meer The Hitter ninth hitter the only notation on the board for the Blue Jays one error Castile making it look easy right now K me drills it to right and gone and the first hit of the night for the Blue Jays has him on the board and listen to this place they’ve been waiting for something to happen and K obliges pitz a base hit and there comes bashet swung on a chopper Third Base Roos has it to Second for one relay by Mo to first base in time double play that’s it for the Blue Jays here in the sixth inning the tying run aboard erased so one out and Dylan about to come up swing in a miss and Gosman makes quick work of more for his ninth strikeout well Kevin Gosman has only made two or three bad pitches today other than that he has been locked in kicks in delivers swing and a miss strike three 10 strikeouts for Kevin gsman he finishes off a sixth inning and sends us to the seventh with the Blue Jays very much still in this one casman excellent he’ll face Vlad Guerrero here in a one-run game swing and a miss tied him up on a change up that disappeared Vlad Guerrero strikes out for the third time strike out number seven Luis Castile he has been excellent tonight Danny Jansen The Hitter oh he just cut him down a nasty two seamer and a sword from Danny Json Mariners leading two to one three balls two strikes Castillo WIS he deals off the plate Ball Four he lost him tying run with great speed is a board and what will Scott do he is going to go get him what an outing on a night where Luis Castillo made his 200th career start he was in complete control of this one tonight two strikes two outs rener at first Mariners up one the two two swing and a miss had him tied up on the curve Snider could have swung at that twice HP will face the righty Garver with the bases loaded two down Fly ball left field Barger makes the catch and Zack pop escapes the eighth we got excitement we got a 2-1 game top nine Mariners on top Andres Muno coming in Weak ground ball Chopper bichette runs well bare hand play Roos and first in time Roos with another gem at third base just a great play playing back over at third this kind of a swinging Bunch we’ve seen a lot of Hall of Famers make plays like that and now it comes down to their big guy your big guy our big guy Vlad Jr a 2-1 ball game Brown ball perfect alignment Dylan Moore right there the Mariners win they take game one against the Blue Jays

  1. I was at this game, and before it started, they were playing โ€œNot Like Usโ€ by Kendrick Lamar on loop in the stadium ๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ’€

0:55 when vlad threw the bat, they played โ€œlet it goโ€ in the stadium. they were ready.

  2. As a Seattle fan, with a lot of Canadian friends, it's always fun to have them come down for the Jays series. Seattle turns into another Canadian city for 3-4 days, and It's absolutely amazing. It's the only series of the year where the fans sing louder for the Canadian anthem, than for the American one. I love how baseball brings us together.

It's also wild that as a 32 year old semi-pro 1B, that I have better footwork at first than someone in the MLB. Guess there aren't many 1B like John Olerud, who can hit, and play their position.

  3. No passion on the Jays, coach needs to go or trade guys like Bichette and Vlad. Pitching six and that is taking nothing away from the Gauz masterpiece tonight. It all seemed to decline when they traded guys like Guerielle jr and Teo, the nucleus of the team was a bunch of crazy kids growing up together and growing as a team.

  4. That's a real nice series opening win to extend the win streak to 8 games in the City Connect jerseys. Now 8-0 on the year on Friday games at home. Raley got robbed bad by the wind in the 1st inning, should have been an easy home run, but 23 feet of wind deflection just barely kept it in the yard and allowed a great catch. Gotta take advantage of a bad Blue Jays bullpen and win this series.

  5. As a long time west coast Jays fan who's first visit to Seattle to see the Jays play was in 92 to watch the WS team in the Kingdome (Guzman on the mound) vs Griffey and the boys, I think I can say I've got the credentials of doing this longer than most Jays fans. So I can say right now…..because the M's are my second favorite team, I'm kind of happy the M's won this game.
Let's face it Jays fans, they're not doing it this year. Lots of great pieces but it just hasn't worked. And I really want the M's to get their first WS. It's been long enough. Such fantastic pitching this year. They just need to correct a little here and really pull away from the Astros. Normally I wouldn't cheer for the M's over the Jays but this year's different. They've got a real shot and if they add a bat or two, could be one of the favorites. (Gonna need a bit more pop to compete with the O's for example; saw that first hand last series right?) And with the Jays being pretty much out of it….well…it is what it is. Just want to see good competitive games like this one.

If the Jays do decide to sell (personally I don't think they should. Build around Bo and Vladdy…they're still very young), I really hope it's a trade with the M's to give them some more of that offensive pop they seem like they need.

  6. There may have been a lot of them, but I'm betting these were some of the nicest away fans the Ms have hosted all year…๐Ÿ˜‚…๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‘
