BIG RED FLAGS WITH RUTGER MCGROARTY & THE WINNIPEG JETS… Top NHL Prospect Trade Rumours

[Music] so this certainly is not how I thought things would go when it comes to this Prospect and his development heading into the NHL a few years ago we had talked about him as a potential top player and he kind of held that reputation heading into the 2022 NHL draft he was then drafted by Winnipeg he had his stint in the NCAA and now when we take a look at forward prospect ruer mcgi it’s all nothing but trade rumors we’d already made a video about this a few days ago talking about how Rucker mordi Winnipeg Jets 14th overall pick in 2022 wants out and initially it was a conversation of oh he wants more of an opportunity he feels like he may not be able to crack the Winnipeg Jets forward core he feels like it’s a little bit too crowded there he wants to go elsewhere etc etc etc but now we’re talking about some of the other opinions that have been thrown out there and how this could be seen by some as a big red flag so let’s go out there and summarize everything before we dive into the new conversation here RoR mcgi as a sophomore with the Michigan Wolverines posted up himself 52 points in 36 games played he was an assist a game guy he added 16 goals on top of that he was over a point per game for Team USA at the world junior he was stellar and when it comes to his offensive ability he is tough to match when it comes to players out of the 2022 draft he’s a physical player he can play two-way and he happens to have a very good scoring touch this is a player who if he maxes out at the NHL level could be seen getting 60 70 points a year maybe even 80 if he’s lucky in one season he’s a very talented Prospect and it’s why a lot of teams would go out there and covet him as his name has entered the trade market but when it comes to the reasons let’s go out there and read some of the extra articles over here the fourth period.com trade watch list of Summer 2024 went out there and wrote this about Ru mordi he has voiced his discontent with the Winnipeg Jets as he wants to make the jump to the NHL next season and Winnipeg has hesitated to this point as a result the 2022 14th overall pick wants to explore his options elsewhere and the Jets are trying to trade him teams reportedly linked include the Boston Bruins the Canadians the Islanders the her the Sabers and the Anaheim Ducks Now Let’s ignore the team’s reportedly linked part about this article for now and talk mostly about how he wants to make the NH sh jump right away the Jets have been apparently hesitant to give him a guaranteed spot which has resulted in him wanting out now let’s just let that sink in for a little bit before we dive into some of the other reasonings here is that kind of strange to anybody else like it’s so uncommon to see NH shall prospects not players but prospects demand their shot at a role on their NHL teams that when you see a guy who is so good in the NCAA and I won’t deny that he’s fantastic as a prospect go out there and essentially say I want out when he’s not given what he wants that to me is a little bit strange and I think there are a few other sources we can go out there and read that support that idea here let’s go out there onto the Winnipeg son because Scott bck published a piece on the 22nd of June talking about how this is not a good look and how the Jets could lose top prospect Rucker mcgi scroll down in this article and you’ll read this the potential reason for such a drastic turn for the team’s 14th overall pick only worsens the situation it’s not Winnipeg as a city being an issue a source with knowledge from the situation told the Winnipeg son on Saturday it is a development issue and relationship issue mcgi Winnipeg’s top prospect in its pool decided against turning pro after leading the Michigan Wolverines to an NCAA Championship in St Paul Minnesota this past spring at the time it appeared there was an issue between the club and the player over the next step in mord’s development path the team preferred mcord to hone his skills in the AHL at the same time the 20-year-old felt like he was ready to make the leap to the NHL similar to The One Michigan linemates he had had Gavin Brindley and Frank ner who had signed with Columbus and in Chicago another source who also spoke to the son on Saturday confirmed as much citing concerns over McCord’s development path and relationship with the club including with the forwards advisers The Source also pointed to how the team handled Cole perfetti struggles last season including his lack of playing time in the first round of the playoffs they also suggested V hola’s painfully slow path to the NHL after being a first round pick as a concerning issue for prospects Beyond mcgi it’s not a good look they said a request to comment from the Jets and mcgi has not been responded to so one of the bigger reasons as to why mcgi if you wanted to believe this Source 110% that he would want out is because of his teammates guys like Gavin Brinley and Frank ner theii having their opportunities at NHL stardom right away honestly in order to respond to that I’ll just say dude take a look at the teams Columbus and Chicago suck so badly compared to the Winnipeg Jets that you’re talking about totally different situations here it’s apples to pears not even Apples to Apples it’s apples to bananas you can’t look at the Columbus Blue Jacket and say oh my teammate signed with them and he’s playing in the NHL why can’t I do that with Winnipeg like okay buddy if you were drafted by Columbus you would have done the same thing it’s not a you issue it’s not a Winnipeg issue it’s a Columbus and Chicago need help immediately issue and they have none of it especially compared to Winnipeg who’s got like four or five five players who are already better than the top stars on Chicago and Columbus respectively so that’s a pretty BS excuse in my opinion it comes across as kind of entitled and in a way sort of uneducated which is strange to say out of a guy who’s coming out of a college program but the other reason as to why mcity wants to change the scenery I’ll say this is a good reason because the Winnipeg Jets and their development for other prospects has been so weird over the past few years Cole Peretti vill hola two guys that were supposed to be top four and top six players for the defense and the forwards as their careers went on and they were supposed to be that pretty quickly I mean Co Peretti projected very well out of the draft Villa hola has grown into a pretty stable reliable middle four-ish caliber defenseman I’d say but none of these guys were given any opportunities the Winnipeg Jets have just been very Meandering with their development if it’s concerns over that then yeah okay I totally agree with it I like that reasoning for rer mcgi to go out there and be concerned about his own future it’s just when you combine it with some of the other stuff how he wants to play in the NHL right away and how he’s not willing to go through some development it does come across is a little bit entitled even though he does have reasons Justified or not that say that he is uncomfortable with the way the Winnipeg Jets want him to continue with his own development with this in mind there was a comment made on a Winnipeg jet Sports Talk podcast this was on Winnipeg sports talk and the clip which was posted on the Twitter by spin hockey goes out there and cites a quote from Shawn Reynolds here’s what he says in the quote this is crazy to me we’re talking about a red flag a young man who has yet to prove himself at the pro level expects to walk in and be on an NHL roster right away and fans think that’s not a problem that’s a problem and there are a bunch of replies in the comment section of that tweet going out there and saying yeah I mean Shawn is pretty good with reporting on the Jess but I hope he’s wrong I like mord’s toughness as a player and it’s something they just need but the last thing they need is a me kind of player then there are a bunch of other replies oh well said Shawn Reynolds this is not good for the team entitled this and that and I wanted to use that tagline as basis for this video and ask the question to you is it really some sort of a quote unquote red flag for ruer mordi to be in this spot where not only is it that he wants out but the reasons that he wants out are listed as follows he wants more of an opportunity similar to his teammates which I think is totally bogus because of the team situations but he’s not willing to go through the AHL path that the Winnipeg Jets want him to go down sure I could understand if it’s more so concerns over guys in the past using the developments of vly hola and Cole Peretti to your advantage saying hey these guys have gone nowhere and I don’t want to do that too I want to get NHL certainty but also is there some sort of an entitlement there is that a red flag do you think this would Bode poorly for the prospect when discussing other options for his future let me know your thoughts in the comment section below if you’re a Winnipeg Jets fan or a fan of any of the other teams I mean we didn’t talk much about the Ducks and the hurricanes and the other squads here Montreal that are reportedly linked to him but if you’re a fan of any of those teams you’re watching this video let me know your thoughts as to how you’re responding to this overall discourse the comment section is your floor let me know what you think I hope you enjoyed this V R9 and bye [Music] n [Music]
