[Bontemps] LeBron James says he took less money to get the Lakers under the second apron because, when you’re in a relationship, there are things you have to do sometimes, and he wanted to make sure they had more flexibility to alter the roster.

  1. Who’s gonna tell him his relationship with this front office is an abusive one

  2. JJ, LeBron, Ludwig … everybody is telling Pelinka this isn’t a competitive roster 🙂

  3. It was a tiny pay cut that gave the team a huge amount of extra flexibility that’ll help him. At this point it’s basically his franchise, so it’s not hard for him. Plus they paid his son and giving him a shot at the NBA right in their home city. I don’t ever blame a player for not wanting to take a pay cut, this is one of those rare instances where I would’ve honestly looked at him a little funny if he didn’t take this tiny pay cut considering everything I mentioned and how he’s wirth $1.5billion. Like he takes a 1 mil pay cut and he’s still worth $1.5 billion

  4. Imagine being one of the other Lakers.

And the best player on the team is literally willing to give up money just to ensure the possibility that you could be traded.

I love LeBron, but this is one of the reasons we struggle. Hard to develop chemistry when your job security is at huge risk.
