Canes Camp is Halfway Over Already | Carolina Hurricanes Podcast #carolinahurricanes #causechaos

just like Bon Joy said the Kane’s Prospect Camp is already halfway there you’re locked on hurricanes your daily podcast on the Carolina hurricane part of the locked on podcast Network your team every day welcome to a Wednesday edition of locked on hurricanes your team every day part of the locked on podcast Network thank you to the everyday for making this your first listen of the day 5 days a week Monday through Friday talking everything about your Carolina Hurricanes I am your host Zack Martin I am the Carolina Hurricanes beat rer over at the hockey Riders also do some HL coverage over at the CER times I am the co-host of the sech cast which is a weekly Caroline hurricanes podcast along with all my duties here at locked on Hurricanes got a very exciting show for everyone today as we are officially done and we’re get to talk about day two of the camp that was on Tuesday for the Carolina Hurricanes and their prospects and we get to hear from Bry n do Ali lome and also assistant general manager Darren York can get their thoughts on day two and you know what’s to come for you know the prospects and everything else around the Carolina Hurricanes but before we get into all of that today’s episode is brought to you by FanDuel make every moment more more as a fact we don’t have any more hockey anymore and the sports you know that we like aren’t really doing what they want them to anymore the fact they’re gone but this summer though FanDuel is hooking up all customers with a boost or a bonus daily that’s right there’s something for everyone every day all summer long if it’s a vu.com to get started so like I said we will be doing the we get to hear from radoo alom and Darren York and just their thoughts on D2 and all that good stuff so we are going to start with Bry Nido and for those who don’t know Nido or want to keep or trying to keep up with what’s going on with him he was the 30th overall pick in the 2023 NHL answer draft by the Carolina Hurricanes R from New Brunswick he’s a Winger Center he played W 37 games at the University of Maine scored 19 goals had 46 points in those 37 games was a plus 20 on the season as well and he did play one game with the Carolina Hurricanes of course it was the last game of the season against the Columbus Blue Jackets and he didn’t score any points and was a minus three on the night the Hurricanes you know originally got him from the Penticton vs where in his last year with pent tikton in the British Columbia Hockey League he had 45 goals 113 points in 54 regular season games and then he had 17 goals for 35 points in 17 playoff games so yeah safe to see BR Nell is uh he’s very well known to put up some points and be able to score a lot of goals at will so it’s very very exciting to see what he can do for the Carolina Hurricanes and maybe if he’s going to be the Chicago Wolves who knows I would like to see him in Carolina just because you know we’ve already heard about the fact that Eric tski said they’re kind of looking at their young guys and see what they can do and maybe step up in a way so maybe you might see Bry Ado maybe you might see Felix a storm I know the Hurricanes right now are kind of lacking that second line left Winger I know it’s kind of hard to put a 19-year-old who just played one Collegiate season do you throw them in that on that second line left wing spot but I mean you got to know what you have with all your young guys you can’t really keep keep them down in the miners for so long and of course you didn’t really get to play with the Chicago Wolves last year at all because you know where where he signed at the time so could you see him in Chicago with Cam Abbott possibly but wouldn’t be said he was with the Carolina Hurricanes either and that’s kind of one of the big things you’re kind of it’s you know it’s kind of a question mark like do you put him in there do you kind of put him a little bit lower down in the lineup but then what do you do move Jordan Martin up do you move l k up you do also you just also sign Eric Robinson too so it’s a lot of question marks but you know it’s from what everything I’ve heard and just from what I’ve seen in terms of tapes from Bry noo he’s really really good he’s really fast and he’s going to make a big impact on the Carolina Hurricanes so you know what enough about me talking about the guy let’s actually hear from Bradley NAD himself as he met with the K’s media on Tuesday afternoon after day two of the king’s development Camp we’ll throw it to to Brad in the the media right now I was just asking Baron York about this um your your jump from from tikton to Maine was a huge jump right um and it was a very successful one for you from a performance standpoint you kind of take us through what that was like making that step up and being successful with it yeah obviously it wasn’t an easy jump I mean uh coming from the BC League you know it was a skill League going to the uh Ares was kind of a physical um league so it was a tough jump but I think you know the coaches and players I played with helped me uh make that jump and that’s kind of uh why uh he kind of went B I would think that’s pretty encouraging too did you feel like your skill set held up well or was it a hard adjustment uh weekend to weekend I think it was definitely hard every weekend but like I said uh you know the coaching staff we had the players you know help with the preparation and it’s kind of uh why uh you know as a team and uh for myself we had success I just saying being with a team this spring how much should that help you kind of get settled into you know maybe a routine and just knowing kind of what you have to do to get to this next level yeah that helped me a lot you know just starting school that was a a big step and I got to do that before the season started and uh you know just being there with the team uh getting to know all the players and and the organization was uh was use to me did you have any conversations at all so far with Rod or Cam about your game or just in general uh you know not much you know you come here and uh you just try to play how you can play and and see where it goes from there on the transition it helped to have a familiar face there with your brother yeah I think uh you know have my brother here is also fun you know there’s there’s a lot of uh good players here but uh having him you know feels like family so it’s uh definitely fun to have him here can you take us through the the weekend if I understand this right each of you were co-player of the week you each had a hattick and you each had the primary assists on all three goals for the other person can you tell us about about that yeah I think uh you know we played UNF after first game and it just happened that my brother scored three goals and had the three primary T and then the next uh not the next day of the day after we played Yukon and which just RSE so it was kind of funny that how it happened but uh you know now it’s it’s a big thing but I don’t know I think it was it just happened and it was like kind of funny how it happened whose game was better who had a better game out of those two I think my brother but that’s okay what what if you really wanted to focus on your game here while you while you’re here I mean I know obviously last year you had the chance to work on your game but there something you wanted to follow up on yeah I think it’s going to be getting stronger you know it’s going to help my skating and just the my my physical play out there so that’s going to be a good thing for me to to work on how exciting is it to to know you probably get a chance to make this team but just how exciting is that and is it kind of daunting or or is that something you look forward to yeah obviously exciting something I look forward to but I know it’s going to be a a lot of hard work and uh you know the summer is is a big part of that so I’ll have a tough summer here ahead of me probably good how was the the black Ace black Ace experience like you know getting to be around the team maybe seeing how the NHL work Works a little bit especially in a playoff atmosphere it really good experience you know you get to like you said be around those guys and you learn a lot from them so I think uh getting the chance to do that with a few other guys was was really huge for for my growth and uh I’m really happy I got the chance to do that anything surprising well I think just how how much the players you know take take care of their bodies and work hard I think that’s the the biggest thing you see from coming to college to here you know they they really uh put uh emphasis on that and uh you know that that was huge for me to get to see that and see how how and what they have to do uh when it comes to you know playoff and just regular season I understand that you did some work with Justin Williams over zoom while you were at school what was that experience like and how did he help yeah he was a huge part you know um just doing uh doing that with him I know he was a great player and he helped me a lot through that process you know sometimes you have back games and stuff and he he’s just there to you know uh help you on the the right path so that was really good that uh I got to do that with Justin last year you got in a game at the end of the year can you reflect on what you learned looking back what those minutes felt like playing in the NHL yeah obviously uh you know it was uh I I could tell uh fast way faster so I think that’s something uh that’s something that that’s a a bit of a jump but I think uh it was pretty good you know I felt good out there and it’s just going to be to to adapt to all the the other things like uh like how physical they are and you know they pass the puck faster they play faster so that’s that’s going to be the I think that uh you know I kind of reflected and see that it was different from college yesterday you listed bill bernon as your favorite hurricane is he ask what your favorite hurricane and why no I think you know they’re all my favorite but I think uh for me you know I have a lot of work to put in the gym to get stronger and Billy’s been helping me through that a lot so that that’s been good and that’s kind of why I made that as a joke and just put bilon on there is it easy to reach this level and get a taste of it last year be a development camps it’s all kind of I guess the word I heady stuff I mean it’s it’s it’s a big deal to keep making these moves is it easy to stay confident through all the learning through the exposure to playing an NHL game to as Cory said being a black Ace uh your whole year at Main a lots going on at once here is it easy to keep your confidence in your head about what you’re doing in the progression of events yeah I think it’s it’s never easy um but I think uh you know just coming here you know they’re they’re all older players are players you used to watch on TV so it’s obviously uh hard to to be uh confident but I think having a good year at Main really help me with that and following that that season to come here I think that was something that really helped me through that process of stay confidence so great to hear from Bradley n do just kind of seeing you know his transition from playing at the University main last year kind of coming up right into the Black Aces for the Carolina Hurricanes you got to you know didn’t get to play in the playoffs at all only get to play one season game but did get to be around the guys in the locker room and sounds like it was a you know really great experience and who knows I guess depends on how development Camp goes and how we look at training camp and even in preseason do we possibly see Bradley and the do crack in lineup you know for the upcoming season Eric tski said that Kyle have to look at the prospects and see what they got in these guys so I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s kind of the possibility that you know maybe the Hurricanes you know they’re not going maybe not fight for a division where may you know go for a playoff spot and why not see what you got in your prospects if you think Bry noo is ready to go and you don’t really feel like you know Kier or martinuk or Robinson kind of fit your top six like you want them to put Bradley ad do in there and see how he does and then you got what maybe Jack Ro You Know Jack rosov is your second line Center maybe Jack jury do you look at you know Martin eers as your right in center who really know you know your right winger so who really knows it’s going to be very very interesting but Austin here from Bradley just to get his perspective you know what it’s like for him going through Camp right now and also you know the season that was last year for him so we are going to talk about ali lome next she uh has she’s gonna be with the Carolina heres for the development Camp as part of the NHL CA female coaches program she was with the Vancouver connects last year she’s with the Hurricanes this year she’s actually be helping Chicago Wolves coach cam Abbott along with the hurricane development coach Daniel bu Peter Harold Kevin McCarthy and Jason mua so really excited to hear from her and just her experience with being with the canes and then also get to hear from her what she thinks of Camp so far which we’ll get to here in a second on a Wednesday edition of lock on [Music] hurricanes passion drive and patience so for foring championships is also what keeps hurricanes your team every day so like we said at the end of segment one we are going to listen to Ali lome and just hearing from her from what she has thought of the Caroline’s H the Hurricanes development Camp so so far and just her being in general of being part of the NHL um you know the NHL ca for the female coaches program and just her interacting with you know cam Abbott and of course of the Hurricanes development coaches and so much more so you know without further Ado let’s just throw over to Ally now and get her experience and her thoughts on what’s been going on over the last couple days at Kane’s development Camp well I know you’ve done this last year of course with Vancouver but getting another opport this year just you know what does that mean to you to continue to your growth in coaching yeah it’s an incredible opportunity I’m so thankful to be here with an incredible coaching staff world class facility great team of coaches and players to be a part of development camp and to get to follow these guys throughout the year now and watch them progress and grow it’s just an awesome opportunity how fun is it to see these young guys I mean I’m sure they’re you you might be a little a struck for the opportunity but I think they’re probably especially some of them coming from overseas even uh a little more a struck yeah I think it’s it’s new for everyone maybe they’ve been here before maybe it’s their first development camp and as coaches too um it’s development for us as well so it’s really great to feed off each other to learn push outside your comfort zone um maybe take some things home with you as you go back to your season or back to your country respectively um yeah it’s just a great learning opportunity for everyone involved can you explain where you come by your skill set I don’t mean that in a derogatory way I don’t know how anyone becomes expert enough to teach other people like I saw them on their inside edges and you were far better at it than they were how do you come about having this skill set yeah I’m from Minnesota and grew up playing boys hockey and played college and pro played overseas played in Kazakhstan and and States here in Connecticut as well um I’ve been teaching boys and girls in Nashville and helped develop an ice rink as well so I think just teaching and I have really good mentors back in Nashville who played the game played Pro are pro skating coaches and it’s this it’s learning and growing and a lot of of practice every day but is that I mean do do you specifically work on all these skills because like here I’m going to be able to teach this I’m going to master the particular skills you have to master the finite movements whether it’s the weight shift whether it’s the knee drive your hips your knees your ankles your posture everything it’s so fine-tuned a lot of it happens in the gym too so you can see who needs to work on what off the ice that translates really well onto the ice all this is about strength and and it kind of it just applies into their game so it’s just count L hours of teaching of learning it of demoing it and just doing it myself too what kind of long-term goals do you have as a coach as a coach that’s a great question I would love to keep growing in this whether sorry I would love to keep growing in my coaching career maybe move up to the pros I love Player Development I do coach teams as well boys teams um and girls so hopefully get an opportunity to move up and and keep continuing on well how far how far is up this guy’s a limit I mean look at J Campbell just breaking barriers and she had a really good R the AHL and I would love to continue that path one day and kind of fall in her footsteps taging off of that uh just more women getting those opportunities how important is that uh for the game of hockey it’s crucial not only for boys but for girls too to see it and I think um the game is moving towards getting more females involved and I think we bring a different kind of skill set to whether it’s a personality or different Outlook different voice sometimes that goes a long way and I think just growing the game in general it’s it’s awesome and like to get a job at like for what I do not because I’m a girl but because I earn that so I think that’s important too as we just keep earning our our ice time and Paving the way for younger generations and all my boys they just know me like coach Ally it’s not like she’s a girl coach because they they just have it now so it’s been interesting to watch develop you have a brother who plays for I have a cousin who plays for an Jackson Jackson you bounce ideas off him about what he looks for a coach that might help you know I watch his game a lot I played college hockey with his sister uh so we kind of went out together and tag team that and just watching him grow in his career has been amazing and I just watch him and kind of feedback but no he’s an excellent defenseman so you and you and his sister beat up on him when you guys are all young always yeah just being up on the boys because he’s younger than you do does he seek any of your input knowing that you’re a specialist I think with family stuff it’s kind of different essentially like it’s more just talking the game of hockey less of like teaching I guess family members but I think I’ve had other Pro guys trained Bobby Ryan for two years and that was kind of my first really Pro Player and that kind of helped develop my coaching as well so yeah watch and watching you out there too it’s natural when you interact with the players and even you’re you’re a woman their kids I mean just just it seems so natural and and I’m sure that’s how you want it to be too absolutely I don’t think about gender when I’m teaching I teach the same way boys and girls and if I need to push and get on to them like I’m going to get on them the same way and I think it’s it goes mutual respect both ways how about getting to be on the ice with Rod bore awesome that was incredible he was great and going back and forth and just talking about the drills as we go and how applicable it is even at the NHL level and that these things that guys do it seems basic but like that’s the game is like working on the skating working on the edges and that was an awesome opportunity was there any one thing you guys talked about in particular today cuz I got some shots of you talking with r yeah I just you know using this more like how how do we incorporate this um in warm-ups and like getting the guys like in the offseason it’s just saying that this is such a crucial part of the game whether you take 10 minutes in the summer every every ice time and just practicing your drills that’s what we were discussing is like it’s great Edge work and and it’s the biggest part of the game too skating yeah do you know Jessica you know I knew yeah we’re in this Mutual NHL CA coaches program so we’ve I’m known her for a little bit now so you called her a Pioneer why did it take this long for the Pioneer Stage that’s a great question I that’s a great question I think I don’t know the answer to that I think that getting the opportunity like I had in Vancouver like I had here it’s getting a chance to Showcase Talent too so it’s getting that opportunity I think we’re kind of open to that now and it’s it’s awesome to have men in this sport who are willing and open and and listen to you too and they want your feedback and I think it’s just kind of trending that way um but I think it’s an awesome opportunity how much does the success of the women’s league especially now it’s unified help as well because it it you know obviously a very successful season for them and it just raises the profile of everyone involved it’s huge especially with the TV deals too you can watch these girls play they’re selling out stadiums of 19,000 people I mean tell me that 10 years ago and you’re like what and now these girls they’re so fast and it’s more of a finesse game because there’s no hitting or fighting but you have make up for it and skill and speed and and seeing the game differently so it’s um you know it’s just it’s really been a a big thing for us to kind of be on that platform and then give them the voice to to Showcase their talent I’m sure nobody is uh getting feisty out there with oh there trust me you said no hitting but I know how it is you know what I mean you can competitive contact be like but there are some hits I mean am it was full on there’s a local Coach Elissa Gard do you know do you know her we played against each other in the end ofhl and I just crossing path paths and coaching a lot and she reached out to me when she saw the announcement and we kind of go back and forth and we’ve been in the same coaching group for a couple years so really respect her and what she does and she’s coaching boys Junior now and it’s just awesome to see her to go yeah it’s great you knew um I was watching part of the drills and a lot of them go around the perimeter of the face off Circle and they’re on on their edges yes and they’re holding that edge as they come around yeah just just for my own education can you explain to me so what are you what what are they is the deal you’re trying to hold that edge as long as you can on one skate what are you teaching there just so I understand well we’re teaching like a lot of things when we do that holding that edge teaching the like gliding forward teaching our hip position working on our upper body as well I’m not leaning with our shoulders we’re just teaching posture and movement and like keeping like that finesse skating as they go through so they’re not all over the place like balance plays a huge part in that as well and then we’re looking at knees I’m looking at knees hips and ankles looking at flexion how they maintain speed on the glide on the turns um so it looks isolated but using in the game you see a lot on Sharp turns cutbacks transitions that kind of thing so if all that comes together is that so maybe they can hold on to the puck longer without losing their balance or or gain more speed on a crossover whether the the outside edge is used so much whether it’s speed crossover speed turns um all the it kind of plays into everything that they that they do go yeah obviously this week is about developing skills for these young players but what do you hope to get out of this week for yourself just the feedback from the coaches as well there’s so many great coaches here you have Cam the AHL coach Daniel bachner who’s a great skills team development Russia so it’s interesting to learn from coaches from different parts of the world too like how do you guys do things that we talk about Youth Development we talk about college and pro and and just learning new drills absorbing it all in hopeing to take it back with me and it’s really just a brainstorm session that we can all learn from so yeah really awesome to hear from Ali lome just getting her perspective on what she looks for as a coach who’s coming and help develop the young guys and then kind of rubbing sh you know rubbing elbows with guys like cam Abbott Rod BM the development coaches as well and just being able to get the Insight of a coach who’s you know looking to help the younger guys learn their skating help them with techniques help them with new ways to you know fine-tune their game as well and just the how small the hockey world is for the fact you know she has a cousin who plays with the Anaheim Ducks played with you know played with his sister in college you know also talking you know playing you know against other you know local Coach local coaches in uh you know women’s hockey and stuff like that so it’s really cool to hear from Alie lome really great the fact that she got another opportunity for the second straight year to be kind of in you know being able to coach a development Camp did with the kucks last year with the her this year so really really cool to see really exciting to hear just you know how much she’s enjoying the time being around the the guys and also being able to you know kind of gain Insight from you know rod renmore and also cam Abbot which is probably the best onew combo for the hurricane hurricanes organization and the Chicago Wolves the fact that you got two guys are almost compared similarly to their mindset of how they want the guys to develop and how they want to play their games and stuff like that too it’s just really awesome to hear so the last person we get we’re going to get to hear from on today’s episode is assistant general manager Darren York and just get his thoughts on everything that’s going on with development camp and so much more which we’ll get to here in a second on a Wednesday edition of locked on hurricanes all right guys we got to talk about FanDuel and I know I know about you and you know about me we all love sports we love them so much we never want them to stop especially hockey but unfortunately we have no more hockey going on right now unless you’re talking about development camps and it’s just one of those things where we wish we had more of it but there are some summer Sports going on we got golf we got NASCAR we got WNBA and WSL and so much more and the good thing with FanDuel is it helps you keep the sports going whenever we want all we have to do is open the app and just D of any bets whenever we feel the desire to do so in this summer fanuel is hooking up all customers with a boost or a bonus daily that’s right there’s something for everyone every day all summer long so head on over to fanduel.com and start making the most of your summer FanDuel official Sports being partner of Major League Baseball welcome back to segment three of lock on hurricanes your team every day so I can said the end of segment two we get to now listen to Darren York and get his thoughts on the kan’s development camp and everything that’s G on over the summer and what’s hopefully to come for the Hurricanes as well so not going to delay this one we’re just going to go right into it and listen to the assistant general manager Daren y as he met with media on Tuesday after day two of the K’s development Camp about the the guys who are coming back a second or a third time have you noticed anybody gotten bigger or guys that you said work on this and maybe they came back and have worked on that yeah I think in most part you can see the natural strength progression with with a lot of guys I don’t know if I want to single anyone out in terms of how well they’ve done or because on General everyone has has gone bigger stronger that’s that’s the point of this we we put in programs to to help them we do a lot of the the jump data and match that up with the on Ice data to provide a specific program to to get them bigger stronger faster so it it really these guys have done tremendous work it’s a lot in the Summers to to get to this point and they’ve done a great job as as much as this is important for development camp for the kids it’s also pretty important as we’re finding out for cam because he’s getting to work with Rod and kind of learn how to be a head coach and style his play off of the Hurricanes right yeah like it’s he doesn’t need to learn how to be a head coach there like he he’s had you know great success in in Sweden um getting an understanding and building a relationship with with Rod the players the staff to to understand what we expect of a players but the same point it’s very natural to to how he goes about coaching there’s a lot of similarities to to in Cam and how they well not just how they take care of themselves but how they communicate how they build relationships and how they generally want to play play hockey so how cam played in in Roga is very similar to what we want with our players in Carolina and what we want our players in in Chicago when did it become that just follow up on that one thing when did it become clear that he was the guy you wanted for Chicago uh I’d be lying to say if it wasn’t pretty early um I didn’t have a relationship with with Camp before this process but he’s we started writing down all the different qualities you want out of a coach and the goal for the interview process is to try to to see how he’s able to to hit those and it it became very early on that he he hit everything uh so it’s you know we’re we’re lucky that we were able to to get Cam cuz I’m sure he had uh other options as well the way the game has changed just how have you guys evolved the way you you know maybe put on the the B camp change things that’s a good question uh I think the the biggest thing isn’t so much how the games evolved it’s also what the athletes expect uh we have to provide the why and why they’re they’re doing these things and how we think it can help them long term and I I think especially now with with just the cultures providing them as much examples and how they’re going to be able to achieve their their goals Eric said that there was a big emphasis on giving opportunities to the younger guys especially if they can’t get every free agent that they want over the course of the year how important I guess is it to develop these guys and also do you see any talent that maybe could see NHL time this year yeah it’s irrespective of where your your NHL roster at in terms of your timeline it’s it’s important to to have players that you’re able to to draft and turn into NHL um stars I think with with this Camp itself it it’s not no one’s making the NHL team today and it’s communicated very clear that this isn’t about making the NHL team this is about getting better each and every day and and understanding what they need to to work on because on July 9th they they have a lot of time of their summer to to continue to to work on these things and get prepared when when the training camp opens up your your top pick was a second rounder this year and sometimes it’s harder for people to wrap their head around okay second round defenseman where does he project but uh obviously a guy you’re going to you’re going to project to get here someday what do you see in a guy like him yeah like I I think I’ve mentioned this probably to to Cory in the past like it it doesn’t matter what we don’t really talk about what rounds that we just we got them on the second day but in terms of talent you you talk about an incredibly mobile defenseman that is hard to to get around the to close on the Defenders and play Fast defensively ver the rush is is a huge strength of his get him in zone and he can stay tight there’s no there’s no hesitation when guys turn around and and cut back he’s able to read where their routes are and then put him with the puck and he he sees his options he has the Poise to to accept the the for check and look through the progression so he he really has the the tools that are are needed to be you know a strong defenseman in the NHL I couldn’t help but notice the protective equipment requirement behind you how much is that uh something that you see evolving in probably pretty soon everyone’s going to wear it and how many of these guys are we know about Felix has already wears a net guard which is kind of a a different look compared to what we see for most Pros um but you know the direction things are headed with that yeah the NHL’s got different rules uh with with their cbaa in terms of what uh what NHL players are required to to use it’s obviously recommended that they take their their safety to you know another level in terms of what’s happened your past uh we obviously don’t want anyone getting H in July that’s not what this is about it’s trying to get them better and get them to to September and if they have an accident this year shame on us if we didn’t do whatever we could to protect them there with Felix again if he doesn’t make the say your roster the kan’s roster would you like for him to stay in North America he is staying in North America he is staying in North America he is yeah he’s his commitment to to Lex hands over okay okay this is our first time seeing Charles Alexis Lego since getting his ELC what made now the right time for him to turn pro I think it’s really just the the progression uh I think you you go back through to where he was um the first time around where he was when he could have been drafted and where he was at when we draft him and then step another year further in in college and he’s just been able to to adapt that game and again similar to what we talked about with binka the ability to to play Fast defensively the ability to to end plays off the rush and then the ability to to get up in the play and get going this is exactly what we want of our defenseman and we felt like he he’s done everything that he’s needed to in college and he’s ready for the next challenge can you talk about add Aly to the development staff just what she’s brought to yeah sure you guys got got video video um of her of her skating out there she’s an incredibly gifted skater and able to clearly communicate to to the athletes on what they need to what they need to do uh it comes with a very strong presence of again making the corrections when they need to because the drills aren’t easy and some of the the players are are going to struggle and need a little bit of coaching and she’s fit seamlessly in there I I would like to ask about uh Bradley and Felix because both of them took steps uh moving from P tikton up to college hockey and playing in the men’s league in Sweden um how much are you aware of what you saw last year how much did you see them and how much progress did they make if you could talk about each of them yeah like the jump from Penticton to the NCAA is honestly it’s probably a bigger jump than what he’s going to do next and I no disrespect to to the leagues that that he played in previously but that’s a huge jump and going from pent tikton to the NCAA and showing every single asset that he’s that he had previously it it’s incredible and it’s a credit to to him and the style that he plays and the ability to to not be afraid to to continue to try to make plays um with with Felix it the same thing and maybe even a bigger jump going from the j20 league to the shl and going from the shl to the World Championships his his steep progression is is incredible but it’s really a credit to how to how smart he is how competitive he is and the other thing that I I think we always have to to be reminded is just how young he is but you you say all these things and then it just gets you excited because there’s there’s so much growth that that still can happen with with both of them but especially with Felix too with Don leaving um Eric stepping up how much more responsibility and pressure is there on you on your shoulders do you feel or is there any new responsibilities that you have there’s all no NE pressure that that’s not that’s not changing um in terms of different responsibility some of this will will still get fleshed out but in the meantime I’m concentrating on here on development camp and making sure whatever we can do to help these players get better all right thanks thanks awesome to hear from Darren York and just kind of giving insights on what’s going on with you know some of the prospects are at Camp right now and you know what we’re expecting and just the fact that you hear that Felix hunger storm is going to stay in North America now that that just depends are you talking about the Carolina Hurricanes or you talking about the Chicago Wolves and for me I think uner storm would be good in Chicago just to give him a chance to get used to the North American game and being with Cam Abbot because cam Abbott coached in the shl for the last eight seasons it kind of makes sense for you know kind of having you know uner storm kind of be with a coach who knows how the shl was and kind of give you know a nicer transition for a guy who’s played in Sweden his entire career and kind of gave him used to North America so hopefully that maybe they’ll work out where he’s to Chicago who really knows awesome to hear what Darren York’s thoughts were on Bradley and the D and just everything that he has done with his jump from penon to college to maybe there’s a chance in in the NHL as well so a lot of great stuff from Darren York even from Ali lome and also talking about Bradley do himself just great to hear from everyone’s thoughts over the last couple days and just everything that’s going on around them but that will wrap up a wed edition of locked on hurricanes hope everyone enjoyed the show especially the fact we get to hear from
