Is Winning the NFC South GOOD ENOUGH For the New Orleans Saints? | Hunt Palmer Show Reaction Video

why does the NFC South continually stink the New Orleans Saints shouldn’t compare themselves to the worst division teams this is the hunt Palmer show I am James SCA the face of the franchise quick caveat quick detour remember a few weeks ago ladies and gentlemen I mentioned that I was chosen out of all the content creators all the beat Riders everybody I was chosen by a YouTube channel called you don’t know ball to talk about the new Orland Saints and to preview the season well that episode dropped that episode did drop on their YouTube channel I would really appreciate it if you went and watched it it’s about 45 50 minutes long these two young ombres asking questions asking me questions rapid fire I had no prep as you all know no notes no nothing and I absolutely lit the place on fire let’s go ahead and watch a sneak peek shall we let me give you let me look talk about the Panthers the Panthers shouldn’t even be in the NFC South they should be in a division with Meg the stallion cardi B and Nicki Minaj because they are ass that’s it so the Panthers are horrible terrific they are nowhere near the other three teams in the NFC South they are off the charts bad that organization I do feel bad for the Panthers fans no hate Panthers fans all right don’t come after me gotta call it how it is gotta call it how it is look look I’m rooting for y’all it just is what it is unbelievable there you go a lot of Goofs a lot of gaffs on that there is going to be a content creator from every single NFL team featured on that YouTube channel to preview their season I want to have the most views why because I know we have the best community on YouTube so go on over there watch the video comment I will be in that comment section replying just like I’m in my comment section replying go comment that you are are watching it over there from here now let’s talk about the here and now shall we let’s talk about me let’s talk about the face of the franchise let’s talk about the New Orleans Saints let’s talk about hunt Palmer I’m just kidding let’s not talk about hunt palmer but let’s react to the show I want to shift the conversation now with New Orleans to a Bleacher Report story that tried to Peg the worst team in every NFL division okay they did not Peg the Saints don’t worry about that let’s not talk about pegging first of all nobody Google that all right not safe for work this is a family channel let’s not talk about pegging at all let’s talk about if they’re talking about the here and now let’s talk about they’re talking about 2024 because they’re talking about talking about 2024 it’s easy I’m fired up it’s easy to determine who the worst team in 2024 in the NFC South will be because the Carolina Panthers are in fact terrible they are garbage they are maybe the worst team in the NFL controversial yet Brave Patriots may give him a run for the money but the Panthers are bad all right I don’t someone double check me I don’t think they led someone see how how much they LED in a game last year I I this might sound crazy I’m not sure if they LED someone go check they they may have led in the fourth quarter of a game I I I don’t want to say anything crazy but someone go double check me how many times the Carolina Panthers LED in the fourth quarter I guarantee you it is not much they were terrible okay they were absolutely awful so with all that being said it’s the Panthers now if it is all time if it’s all time NFC South bad you could probably have some conversations but it probably still is the Panthers because the Buccaneers had really good success for a second there the Buccaneers had really good success with Tom Brady and really good success with John Gruden the Saints obviously have had 20 straight years 15 years of success the Falcons had a large chunk of success very similar to the Saints they didn’t reach the peak of the Saints they didn’t actually win the Super Bowl but they have been to multiple Super Bowls they had a good stretch there with Matt Ryan where they were competitive and and you know competing for the NFC every year so uh that it’s hard to Carolina I I mean Carolina did go to a Super Bowl or two super bowls with with Newton and uh with Jake delhom so Carolina had a run of success too theirs was a little bit shorter uh because Newton’s run was a little shorter than Ryan and Breeze obviously and Dome and that and that crew was uh was much shorter running back tandem for Carolina way back win double check me after you get done double cheing me about the other thing Deshawn Foster D’Angelo Williams was the double-headed the two-headed monster they were really good but then I think Steph Davis someone check me if Stephen Davis wasn’t like the Panthers big dog running back for a while there was not where they went of course you know where I’m headed with that it was Carolina they picked the Panthers to go three and 14 yeah they’re terrible um they say the NFC South’s been one of the weakest divisions in recent years the team that SS to the bottom of this division clearly needs a lot of work to become a contender the Carolina Panthers fit that description um I think for what it’s worth Carolina fans I do think Carolina will be better than last year but they will not that’s not saying much they’ve got a firsttime head coach Dave Canales a second-year quarterback and Bryce young they’re looking to bounce back from a lackluster rookie campaign Beyond those factors Canalis told reporters he wants to make a strong commitment to the Run game his rookie second round running back Jonathan Brooks is recovering from a Tor a I can go on and on about the state of the Carolina Panthers it’s not good and you know that yes what do this story say about the Saints Buccaneers and Falcons well nothing in terms of tax but it gives a predicted a record Saints 7- 10 bucks eight and n and Falcons 9 and8 that’s what they kind of think regardless because I’ve been saying a combination of that for a long time that I think the top three teams AKA Saints bucks and Falcons however you want to say it the top three teams are going to be right there with each other so if it’s nine wins eight wins seven wins if it’s 10 10 98 if it’s 11 109 I don’t really care what I care about is that the Saints perform better than the Falcons and the Bucks we can’t be seven- 10 s- 10 is crazy seven- 10 to me is Baseline I don’t see how we lose more than 10 games that would be crazy um you know I don’t see how we only win seven seven to me is like worst case scenario everything went wrong possible injuries we beat the teams we were supposed to beat barely and that was about it that’s seven I think we’re good enough to get to nine pretty comfortably I think pretty comfortably we should get to nine and by me saying that I’m saying that pretty comfortably we should compete for the NFC South does that mean we’re going to win the South no right if we win if we go if we win nine games obviously we’re going to be a game maybe a tiebreaker situation or a game off or a game up or whatever we saw how it went last year so I’m not saying we’re going to win this division but I do believe come the last week of the Season it will be a three horse race for this for this division who takes it you know a lot of variables but I don’t I what I do not agree with is this idea that the Saints will be to or three games behind whoever wins the Division like us sitting at seven wins and the division winner is 10 or the division winners is 11 I I don’t I don’t believe that I don’t think that can happen so if we win eight games division winner wins nine okay okay whatever but I think we will be in that conversation at the end of the year of this division moving forward and that’s very similar to the way things looked last year and last year at this time we looked at the South and we were looking at the Saints and going you know this is a bad division yeah Saints can can win this division get into the mix get into a playoff situation maybe you get a home game you win the division and all of a sudden you’re playing a really meaningful game in the second round of the playoffs like that that could be an exciting deal that was the the majority of folks talking about the Saints if you listen to Matt mson after me he was saying this is not interesting they’re not good they might win a crappy division in fact I think they will win a crappy Division and they’ll get dusted at home in the first round of the playoffs that’s what Matt thought but basically everyone was on the same page that the Saints should win this division they may not be a contender but hey that’s a good step with Derek Carr year one see what you can do and they fell short of that it’s easy in the NFL first thing you do rank the quarterbacks if you rank the quarterbacks in a division you probably are going to come pretty close to ranking the division last year that’s why I thought the saints were going to be so good was that I thought Carr was Leaps and Bounds ahead of Bryce young Desmond Ritter at the time and Baker Mayfield I was close I think Carr is Leaps and Bounds better than certainly better than Bryce young certainly better than deser Ritter the problem was the play calling problem was I did not think in any way that Pete carmichel on the play calling could be that bad I don’t think any of us did right I don’t think any of us thought we were not going to score a touchdown in the opening possession for 17 straight weeks I didn’t think any of us thought we were going to watch the play calling that we did that ranked 32nd in the NFL I mean the list goes on and on right and even with all of that with Ram’s injury him only playing whatever 12 games or whatever it was uh pinning be a complete disaster us only having 80 rushing yards was our highest for a running back in the entire season even though all of that is true we still almost won the division we still lost on a tiebreaker okay so we were right there and if you look at it this season it’s the same exact thing Carr is better than Bryce young Carr to me is better than Baker Mayfield let’s just say they’re equal and Carr is equal a little bit behind depends he asked than Kurt Cousins so what’s that tell you if one quarterback is far behind and the other three quarterbacks are all about the same that’s probably how the division is going to play out but a lot of our conversation last year really revolved around the division yes and I’ve determined as I sit here in July of 2024 I’m not going to do that now that may hunt if you win the division you go to the play playoffs you play the division twice each they are a majority of your schedule six six games are against the division and if you win the division you get an automatic bid of the playoffs that is exactly what you should be talking about maybe shortsighted because Tampa wasn’t great last year and they won the division and they won a playoff game and they did play in a meaningful game in the second week of the playoffs and they played well in that game yes and we came back here and go was that kind of what you were thinking like does that excite you and as I sit here man that’s not really what I’m signing up for I’m a Saints fan that’s exactly what I’m signing up for I want a product that competes at the top of the NFL not the top of the worst division yeah obviously hunt but that’s not the case right now the case right now is that we have an aging core we have a a quarterback a veteran quarterback that we’ve signed on to be a bridge to figure out what’s going to happen in the next chapter we’re coming off of losing the best coach in the franchise history and the best quarterback in franchise history you can’t always be at the top of the mountain sometimes you just have to be relevant and sometimes being relevant is good enough where you win the division you hang a banner you go to the playoffs you host a playoff game you might win a playoff game like what are you talking about yeah sure hopefully down the road hopefully down the road you want to win a Super Bowl and be the best of the the NFL but that you it’s a cycle teams you think the P you think the Patriots you think the Patriots most winning franchise in NFL history don’t look at me like that hunt you think the Patriots wouldn’t trade with their dealing with right now they wouldn’t trade that to go 10 and seven and win the AFC East and go to the playoffs and win the first round and lose in the second round what like Tampa Bay season last year was Tampa Bay truly one of the best teams in the NFL no no one no one no they weren’t was Tampa Bay season last year something that I think 95% of teams the NFL would sign up for yes every team was sign up for that the Miami Dolphins wish they would have done that last year the Miami Dolphins would have had a fun time doing what Tampa Bay did the LA Rams would have had a marvelous time last year doing that there’s like four teams in the NFL that truly are sitting here going into the season saying look we know we are one of the best teams the NFL we are super bowl or bust Chiefs Ravens uh 49ers those teams that have been there that are at their Peak yeah they’re not going to accept 10 wins the Division title and bounce in the second round but for every other team and and this is what I keep preaching like this isn’t even bad nine wins 10 wins isn’t even bad what the Giants are going through with the Broncos are going through what the uh commanders have been going through what the what the Patriots been going through like I said that’s a true rebuild like this isn’t the worst case scenario competing for your division being couple games over 500 winning your division hanging a banner going to the playoffs like that that is that is perfectly okay to sign up for when you’re in this kind of soft not a rebuild but a soft like re reset of of the of the franchise and so when I talk about the Saints I’m not really going to mention the three and 14 projection of the Panthers I’m not going to talk a ton about the eight- N Tampa Bay Buccaneers that are projected this year I’m not going to talk about the Falcons not being very good you should be because all those losses the three and 14 hopefully two of those 14 are the Saints the Bucks eight and nine hopefully a couple of those nine are the Saints like by talking like what are we talking about here by talking about those teams you are indirectly slir directly talking about the Saints because the fact of the matter is the Saints have to be better themselves let’s not yes obviously water this whole thing down and not talk at all about Dallas and not talk at all about San Francisco and not talk at all about some of the in the NFC that are actually good not San Francisco obviously Green Bay should be good this year one would think Detroit’s got a great Foundation that they’ve built and so you need to talk about all that as opposed to being too shortsighted it’s kind of what why would we be talking about Detroit and San Francisco they’re two of the best teams in the NFL we don’t even play them who cares what they’re doing the page that Matt was on last year I didn’t necessarily jump right on board with it but I just feel like you’re doing a disservice to the big picture if you just look at how bad Carolina is no you’re doing yourself a disservice to the big picture if you’re only focused on why aren’t we the best team in the NFL because what do you do for the for some teams the Detroit Lions you’re talking like 20 30 years where you’re not going to say that so for 20 30 years are you just going to be like why are we one of the top teams in the NFL it’s like brother you’re we you’re not winning five games what the hell are you talking about like how insane would that sound if 20 years ago in the middle of you know losing every game in the regular season or whatever the Detroit Lions fans like man I just don’t get why we’re not we we need to focus on being the best team in the NFL not we don’t need to be focused on the Bears it’s like my guy Joey Harrington’s our quarterback what are you talking about we just got to beat 63 to nothing like you it can’t just be I mean a what a horrible way to view to view sports or even life like if you’re imagine like imagine if you’re learning to play like the saxophone or something or the guitar or something and you’re like you know you’re 9-year-old kid is learning how to play guitar and he’s taking guitar lessons or whatever and he comes home and he’s like you know I want to be I want to be as good as Jack he’s on he’s he’s been playing guitar for two years he’s in the class and he he can do a 20 second solo I want to be you know as good as Jack I’m going to really try hard imagine if you were like f Jack watch this video of Eddie Van Halen this is who used to be as good ass the nine-year-old’s like Dad I don’t even know how to hold the guitar yet like I’m what I’ve been to one practice I’ve been to one practice that I can’t I can’t shred like Jimmy Hendrick I that’s it’s it’s just the craziest way I’ve ever I’ve ever heard to look at a season for for a 500 team like yeah I you should have aspiration you you should the big picture long term should be I hope the Saints do get to be one of the top teams the NFL but you got to face reality My Boy you know you I mean you got to literally walk before you run run before jog before you sprint you know like you you gota you got to practice a few times before you’re talking about why am I not as fast as you Saint bolt it’s okay to be realistic yes do I hope the Saints catch lightning in a bottle like Nick f and Philadelphia did and the Saints you know go to the Super Bowl this year and we go on a magical Super Bowl run and I’m sleeping sleeping in the middle of Bourbon Street yes obviously but am I going to sit here and say I think the Saints should go UND defeated this year because that’s what we should strive for am I going to go on you don’t know ball and and you know and do my my hit my interview and say well guys we you know I I know yall ask me what I think my season preview is but we should be we should be aspiring to be the San Francisco 49ers so I’m going to say the Saints win 14 games they’ delete the video they’d go ask somebody else they’d go ask someone else to be the the the featured Creator not the Superstar so keep your aspirations like aspirations are good but be realistic too ladies and gentlemen it’s okay it’s okay to enjoy the small steps it’s okay to enjoy the journey it’s okay to enjoy the hardfought 10- win division championship just as much as it’s to enjoy the 134 win division championship you shouldn’t as a fan you shouldn’t require 14 wins best team in the NFL level to enjoy success if the Saints are fighting tooth and nail and we’re right there at the end of the season and we win the NFC South with an 8-9 record and we just and we beat Tampa in the last game of the season to win that to clinch that I be the happiest guy in the world it’d be such that be it’ be worth celebrating I wouldn’t be sitting there with my arms folded in my seat in the super doome saying well I mean we’re not we don’t have 13 wins you know where it’s kind of a bad division stop comparing yourself it it can’t be removed completely from the discussion because that’s going to be six games on your schedule every year and it’s going to impact where you sit in the playoff perspective so I’m not suggesting ignore it completely but I’m also suggesting we got to stop boiling it all the way down you’ve got to talk about where you stand with the rest of the league and when I okay we’re middle of the pack that’s where we stand with the rest of the league middle of the pack so where does that get you that gets you to the division because if you’re middle of the pack the next question is well can you wi your division consistently pull up pieces written by folks outside of New Orleans outside of the NFC South that are talking about the Saints in regards to the entirety of the league and you’re sitting there at 21st in this 25th in this 28th in this 16th in this I don’t care that you’re better than Carolina and Tampa in that regard you’re not close to the top and that’s where the focus needs to be that is where the focus is but you can’t every single team’s focus is to the top you can’t all get to the top it takes a while it takes drafting a quarterback or signing a quarterback it takes the right coach it takes the right Personnel it t like yeah everyone’s aspiration is that but there’s a journey like there’s a Jesus there’s a journey there’s a process there’s there’s Seasons there’s stuff you have to go through you can’t just Aspire it achieve it it’s not that easy so just in kind of as a a we’re close to the end of Summer by the way like as I sit here and I I get ready to start really diving into the Saints you realize that next week we’ve got SEC media days and we’ll talk about that a lot and and then the Saints are going to report those rookies are going to be there in Southern California we’re getting pretty close to that oh yeah so when we start diving into this I’ve taken the approach this summer into the fall let’s not judge this as a four Team league let’s judge it a 32 Team league it is literally a four team Division and the winner of that four team division goes to the playoffs so there’s a reason that there’s a reason that the standings aren’t just one through 32 and the top 12 go to the playoffs and right now while you might be one or two out of four you’re closer to 24 out of 32 and that ain’t it ask the Tampe Buccaneers last year if it was it because they were probably ranked you know 16th going into the last week of the season they won the division beat the Eagles great great great year ask Baker Mayfield’s bank account ask his he’s got he Baker Mayfield has a 100 million reasons why winning the division is pretty sweet so quibbling of the whether or not you’re second in the division first in the division third in the division that doesn’t matter it does Big Picture got to be closer to the top 10 in the league how do you get there winning the division going winning the division going to the playoffs getting playoff experience that’s how you do that’s the way we’ve got to frame discussions about this New Orleans Saints team you can laugh at the Falcons for screwing things up that’s fine part of it you can laugh at the Panthers and their owner for being a joke right now and that’s part of it too you can doubt Baker Mayfield and that’s all wi and good but again let’s start looking outside of that and I just don’t have overwhelming optimism but as I always say August can breed that get some reports out pre-season looks okay we’ll see get off to a decent start as of right now kind of changing my mindset I don’t care how they stack up against Tampa how do they stack up against San Francisco horribly good news San Francisco is not in the division we don’t even play them this year so why the hell would I care how they Stack Up in San Francisco let’s talk a little about that hey son thanks for wow that made absolutely no sense at all thank God I’m here ESPN 1045 give me a call good Lord have mercy ladies and gentlemen thank you very much for watching get in the comments below and more importantly go watch my feature on you don’t know ball I would really really really appreciate it let’s crank those views up let’s help them out they knocked on my door so let’s show them some love and uh and whatnot so thank you very much for watching I will see you in the next video

Is winning the NFC South good enough for the New Orleans Saints in the 2024 season? In this video, James Skrmetta reacts to the NMFC South Preview for 2024 and where the New Orleans Saints rank. Wil the New Orleans Saints win the NFC South? On the Hunt Palmer Show, he talks about the NFC South being the worst division in the NFL and WHY the Saints shouldn’t worry about just being at the top of it. Hunt looks at what the big picture should be: worrying about moving up the NFL ranks rather than division ranks. The Saints may be near the top within the division, but near the bottom compared to the rest of the NFL.

  1. Idk if it’s just me but this is the most excited I’ve been for a season since Drew retired. The future of the team is literally riding on next season. If we win 6 games the fans get what they want with Carr and Allen leaving or we make the win the division, make the playoffs and it’s fun for everybody. I can’t wait.

  2. No offense to Saints Fans & Media, but WTF was Hunt talking about.
I have some bad news for Saints Fans, the entire time the Saints had Payton & Brees, they played in ONE Superbowl.
ie. They ONLY had ONE actual opportunity to win a Super Bowl.
I know you FELT like you were “in it” every season, but you weren’t.
The Giants WON TWO Superbowls during that same time, beating the Best NFL dynasty of ALL time, with Eli Manning.
I don’t believe they were ever thought of as one of the best teams in the NFL at the start of those seasons.

What exactly do Saints Media & Fans think that they want?

Too bad the Saints didn’t get DeShaun Watson.
They could consistently fail, but FEEL like they were great every year, regardless of the horrible play & SA’s.
    🤦‍♂️

  3. James, while there’s still few comments and you might see this, I always make idiotic, ridiculous (but accurate and indisputable) comments on your vids, but you are the Saints go-to dude – as opposed to the blowhard, loud, annoying… well, you know who I’m talking about.

I only started picking up on your Saints vids around preseason last year. I thought you were new and felt sorry for you trying to be a Saints content creator and then them sucking like a Detroit city sewer system pump-out truck.

But after about four or five pathetic outings, I realized you are basically a genius. The comments you came up with on your thumbnails about their sh*tty outings made it impossible for a infuriated Saints fan to not click on your vids and post a comment.

I think the Saints sucking a** was the best possible thing that could have happened for your channel… tell me I’m wrong.

Props on the recognition you’ve received, you deserve it!!

I hope you see this… because from here on out, I’m back to outrageous (but indisputable absolutes) comments about the Saints current status of record breaking suckiness (and I’m talking about the Saints here… so when I say “sucky”, that’s like 10 Browns years for every Saints year), of which most you will delete. ✌️
