Braves vs. D-backs Game Highlights (7/10/24) | MLB Highlights

the right-hander Slade saone facing the Braves for the first time in his career yeah sione’s really got to work hard today kind of give that Bullpen a little bit of a break today in this game three of the series got to get deeper past that fifth inning you see there 62 Innings pitched 12 walks 50 strikeouts he’s got to be effective with that fall in the strike zone and get it past these Atlanta brds good hitters and it’s a four pitch walk for Jared Kell got that slider in there Pomo ranging way out from short stop but he’s got it for the first down dropped the slider right in there fool Riley and gets his first strike out he swings and clubs one to left going over is guriel he’s got plenty of room to make the catch and the inning is over chot pitches around the leadoff walk and for Atlanta it is the veteran Charlie Morton on the mound making start number 17 and on Pace for 30 again this year which is incredible for The 40-Year-Old you can see is 57 strikeouts on his curveball sending this out towards Eddie Rosario wide drive here to Center Kellick coming on to make the play that was hit hard off the bat of Marte but two outs two two 0 for nine with six strikeouts he goes down looking at a curveball and a great start for Charlie Morton clearing that first hurdle with ease Zuna couple of base hits in this series including a double and a single last night there’s a good swing decision single to center field off the bat of Marcelo Zuna Eddie Rosario gets into this right center field it plugs the Gap it bounces up and over the wall had it not done that Ozuna would have scored but instead the runners will be at second and third well there’s the plus and minus of the short walls here in the Gap at Chase Field and that is that yeah it’s great for home runs but in a situation like this you’d rather have seen the ball bounce up against the wall infield is going to come halfway in we’re scoreless on the top of the second Runners at second and third one down for Travis darno this one in play out towards Carroll he’s sprinting back he can’t get it it’s over his head Travis darno driving in Ozuna and Rosario two to nothing Atlanta in the top of the second and he goes the other way you can see it is elevated and remember Marcel also had a hit on a slider that wasn’t a very good one and Travis short and thought maybe this one had a chance as it continued to carry and you got really good speed out there with Corbin Carroll but he couldn’t get to it that was some excellent base running from Eddie Rosario he had a good read on that ball was not worried about trying to tag up and so he scores easily that’ll bring it peraldo Pomo hitting in the six spot DB backs Trail two nothing in the second by man Olson and down the line dval chases it down in the corner he can’t pick it up and promo’s in it second standing up Bo dval raced over there pretty quickly trying to hold him to a single but then he dropped the ball and the Diamondbacks have their first base runner here’s Gino Suarez Gino at 205 seven homers on the year Suarez hits a Fly ball and this one’s going to go Gino Suarez way out of here and we are tied at two 4502 ft you wanted slug Gonzo you got it Bo he got a hanging breaking B watch yourself up there cold beer and cheeseburgers that one up there that’s his eighth of the Year watch this ball just hang right out there and he just got a good swing on it and you know what helped make that happen was not offering it some of those pitches that he was swinging at earlier this year so Al’s easily into third they are at the corners so a chance for Atlanta to get that lead right back this one is hit deep to right center field going over there Carol he will grab it on the edge of the track it will score a run and Atlanta back in front 3 to2 here in the third been a little quiet stretch here for catel Marte headed at the All-Star game next week and Marte drives one way out to Right Center catel Marte it’s gone and we’re tied 444 ft as the 18th for the allstar Kel Marte and it’s a three3 ball game they have answered back again and it’s another Gonzo two out home run boy and you watch this swing right here watch him when he hits it he knows he got it here is Joe manip manip worked at the ball game last night through just 11 pitches 42 appearances so far and that’s fair at third what a play by Gino a tough backhand short hop at Suarez as he done so often makes it look easy Bo with all the struggles he’s had offensively big two-run Homer today and look at this play right here he’s been fantastic defensively for the Diamond Backs 1-1 sent out to right center field it will split between Thomas and Caroll out to the T-Mobile side stand up double with two outs for Austin Riley swing and a miss ran the Sinker in under his hands Olen done on strikes and manip posts a zero in the fifth new pitcher for the Diamondbacks to start the sixth is Kevin gingle GLE has been on a run here has had a very nice season an RA at 261 got him boy Kevin GLE has got it rolling going back to the middle of may he has been almost Untouchable well look at that just that overpowering fast ball and you could see you got that Swagger up there when he threw that pitch he just kind of strut it back off the mound Kevin GLE is in the zone where you throw that High Velocity fast ball and then you come with that breaking ball starts over the middle part of the plate look at the bottom just dropped right out of it on the outer part of the plate swing and a miss not an Immaculate inning but gingle strikes out the side in the sixth let’s see twice as much here if you can get a multi home run game here from Suarez that’ll be nice you know homerun in the second flying out in the fourth swinging a liner down the left field line that’s a base hit it will roll towards the corner Pomo around to third he’s going to be waved home here comes the throw to the plate it’s not made Dbacks lead 4 to three AIO Suarez as third RBI of the night has given the Dbacks their first lead he has had base hits in each of his last three starts Jose Herrera but so far tonight 0 for two it’s throw right here comes Suarez Deval with the throw and it’s cut off Jose Herrera going to give himself up the run is home and it’s five to three Diamond Backs Jose Herrera with a pad run got the tying run to the plate in Ozuna and like you mentioned Kelly trying to get that run in at least make it a one-run ball game swung on and torched to deep center field flying way on back that’s heading to the wall and out of the ballpark Marcel Ozuna laying down the law here in Arizona and it’s a tie ball game here in the eighth inning Diamond Backs this year with the bases loaded hitting over 360 the best of the majors and here comes Christian Walker right guy up at the right time here he’s walked in the goahead Run and the first four have reached in the eighth it’s the first thre hit game for Heraldo Pomo since July 15th last year when we were in Toronto he has doubled twice singled and scored twice hero lines it to right Duval tracks it down here comes Marte and it’s seven to five boy that ball was smoked too the first two outs haven’t been much of a problem for Paul it’s after that where he has stumbled popped him up Martz under it and the Diamondbacks have their 15th comeback win this year and Paul sea Wald has the save

  1. Little mini win streak comes to an end but still some good signs here and there on the offense side of things. Charlie had some ups and downs in this start but unfortunately the bullpen wasn’t able to get it done tonight when it was a 50/50 game. All good though the bats are still looking a lot better just didn’t have the best pitching display this game. Fried on the mound tomorrow looking for the series win. #ForTheA

  2. Notes From the Game:

THREE BAD PITCHES…. JUST THREE BAD PITCHES WAS ENOUGH TO DERAIL What was otherwise a Persevering Outing from Morton… 6 1/3 Innings, 4 Runs Allowed on 5 Hits, Walking NONE, and Striking Out 5. Despite this, he gets a No-Decision, keeping him at 5-5, but his ERA Increases to a DANGEROUS 4.07. I KNOW THOSE MORTON HATERS ARE COMING, AND I HATE IT.

    – First Time in what feels like awhile that the Bullpen would IMPLODE… AND ON A CRITICAL GAME IN THE SERIES, TOO! Johnson and Jimenez BOTH HAD NO COMMAND OF THEIR PITCHES, and the D-BACKS COULD SMELL IT IN THEIR SWEAT! Johnson Allows a Run on 2 Hits while Recording 1 K, while Jimenez Allowed 2 Hits, a Walk, and a WHACKED-BY-PITCH of THE JOC… I hope he doesn't have any hard feelings after that.

ROTATION TOTAL: 8 Innings, 7 Runs, 9 Hits, 1 Walk, 1 Hit Batter, 6 Strike Outs, TWO Home Runs Allowed!

The Offense was Honestly Respectable Tonight… Only 5 Braves Left on base, 2-6 with Runners in Scoring Position… But the Pitching Couldn't hold the line when it mattered.

    + d'Arnaud with a RESPECTABLE night! 2-4 with A Single in the 7th, and a Two-Run Double in the 2nd! d'Arnaud holds onto a .239 Average with an OPS of .729!

    – Olson Continues to Slide, but he at least found a way to contribute tonight: 0-3 with an RBI Sacrifice Fly in the 3rd. Olson Clings to a .237 Average and a .737 OPS.

+ THE BIG BEAR IS READY FOR THE DERBY! 2-4 with a Single in the 2nd and a GAME-TYING TWO-RUN SUPER MISSILE IN THE 8TH! Ozuna Holds Firm with a .296 Average, .942 OPS, and Puyo (24) Home Runs on the Season!

    – OTHER NOTABLES: The ONLY Other Brave to get a Hit Tonight was Eddie Rosario, Who Went 1-4 with a Run Scored. Jarred Kelenic and Ozzie Albies Both Drew a Single Walk Tonight, but finished 0-3 and 0-4 Respectively. Arcia Went 0-3 Despite making contact on every AB (Which will keep feeding the fans into shouting Louder for Nacho Alvarez Jr.), and Duvall had a NIGHTMARE of a Game, going 0-4 with 3 Ks.

Just when I thought the Braves have Shifted it into Gear…. THE TRANSMISSION EXPLODED ON I-10. This Kind of Loss is one that could be MOMENTUM-SHATTERING for the Braves if they DON'T take care of these SNAKES Tomorrow. YOU CANNOT AFFORD A SERIES SPLIT OR LOSING STREAK heading into the All-Star Break. Morton wasn't completely terrible, but GOT CAUGHT with 2 Outs in Two Of the Seven Innings… The Offense did enough, the Defense was Sufficent, But just a Terrible, TERRIBLE Time for the Bullpen to SHATTER in the Desert. I FEAR this will be a Loss that the Braves MAY NOT RECOVER FROM.

    – Even Worse? The Phillies WON their Series against the Dodgers, the Mets took care of business against the Nationals. MERCIFULLY, The Cards LOST Both Games of their Doubleheader with KC, and the Padres Dropped another one to the Mariners. In the Division, This Pushes the Braves Back to 8 1/2 Games BEHIND Philadelphia, while pulling the Mets Back to WITHIN 5 Games. In the Wild Card Hunt, the Braves Maintain the #1 Spot, But they remain ahead by only 3 1/2 and 4 1/2 Games to the Cardinals and Padres Respectively.

    TOMORROW:

THE FINAL ROUND of this 4-Game Showdown between the Diamondbacks and Braves will take place under the Evening Skies of Chase Field. Once again, the D-Backs Have NOT Announced who will start for them…

However, it will be MAX FRIED taking up Battle Stations for the Braves in a CRUCIAL Game. He's Coming Off One of his WORST Starts this Season: Allowing 5 Runs on 11 Hits, Including 2 Home Runs to Trea Turner, Hitting a Batter, Walking a Batter, and Striking Out Only 4 Phillies en route to a LOSS.

    THE SITUATION IS CRITICAL.

Can FRIED and the Braves Bounce Back from HORRIFIC Losses and earn a NEEDED SERIES WIN IN THE DESERT?

Or will the Diamondbacks Muster Up a Way to Draw a Line in the Sand?

We Will Find Out at 9:40 P.M. EDT / 7:40 P.M. MDT on The Arizona Diamondbacks Website and Bally Sports South (Braves)!

    SoundFX09, Signing Out.

  3. I am so sick of Morton's inconsistency in his starts, I don't know if he plans to retire after this season but if not I hope the Braves don't resign him, Joe Jimenez was also a big let down tonight.

  4. Pitching is obviously not the braves’ biggest need at the deadline. But, if they manage to sneak an arm alongside a bat in a deal, it would benefit them even more

  5. First of all, MLB pitchers should NEVER walk in runs with the bases loaded. Also, Charlie hasn't been good this year. He's a serviceable #4-#5 guy in the rotation but I don't consider him reliable anymore. He's a worse version of last year's Uncle Charlie
