It’s very quiet in the NHL right now, so Coach, inside of his Habs Daily News, talks about a Habs mock trade proposal between the Canadiens and the Canucks, following his predictions for Arber Xhekaj and Kaiden Guhle’s contract extensions.

  1. Garland is a Smurf! That’s why Vancouver wanted to unload him all last season!
Thought the idea was to get bigger at the forward position not smaller!

  2. Can Vancouver afford both contracts? Because Vancouver is already about a half 1 million over the cap. Harris would make them about 1m over…
Which isn’t much, but we are talking Vancouver

  3. I could see Arber being signed in the 1.75 to 2.25 AAV range.I think 6-6.5AAV range is fair for Guhle. The only reasons i don't mind your trade proposal is that it would rid us of a bad contract and I see potential in the Russian.Garland would help the PP, but he's teeny tiny and we need mord size. As always- Go habs go.

  4. I would bridge Guhle. On the Mock trade- don't see Canucks agreeing on that one. Garland was one of their best players in the playoffs and he is key for their 3rd line.

  5. Forget about it that coach what kind of a trade is that, first Garland he's to small and he has been shopped around last season and as well we have already small players no need to add another, I would still exercise and rather go after McGroaty his big, strong, skilled, skates well and has vision and he is young perfect

  6. Hi Coach, i agree. Ghule if he decides to go long term contract is in the 6.5m range (not more). If he can become a first pairing Dman in a few years that would be great, however a 2nd pairing D making 7+m per season is definitely too much.
I like the trade proposal for Garland, and Podkolzin as well. We need to look at the bigger picture ,which is getting rid of Anderson contract. They focus should be on being competitive in 2-3yrs from now, not necessarily for the now.
I would love for the Habs to see if they can somehow get Dvorsky from Stl, but i think Stl is looking a a rebuild unfortunately.

  8. I love how you think outside the box coach. I don’t like the trade proposal, and would rather see Anderson be an overpaid, big body on the bottom six, who provides experience, and protection for the younger core.

  9. Schneider's contract is a bridge contract that is NOT his actual worth.BOTH he and Arber are worth 4 mil and should be signed long term so that the contracts become just as valuable as for example the 8 yr contracts habs GM has already issued.
I agree they are likely to only offer around 1.5-2 mil but that is poor management Arber is valuable and long term you don't play head games with your players.

  10. The Guhle comparisons ar fair but I would take KAndre over Guhle all day any day every day.Shea Theodore is also on a much higher pedestal there is no way Vegas would even consider trading Shea for Kaiden not a chance in hell.
A reminder about doing bridge contracts th Habs did that with Subban and that did not work out at all.

  11. I like the trade for 2 reasons… Get rid of Anderson one year sooner, AND opens up a defenseman spot.
It is not about THESE players it's about freeing up from the contract a year sooner.
