  1. Shook is a 26 year old righty that seemed to have hit a roadblock in AA spending the last 3 seasons there with disappointing results.

Tyler Jay is a 30 year old LHP that was drafted 6th overall by Minnesota in 2015. He had mixed results and eventually health problems that lead him to an extended absence from baseball before a brief stint in independent ball before joining the Mets

Jays in AAA for now, no corresponding move was required since the 40 man was at 39. Worth taking a look at another lefty I guess but my expectations are low. It looks like he’ll pitch from the pen and throws low 90s.

  2. Here’s the stat report for both!

    Brewers give up TJ Shook: In Double A — 5-7, 4.90 ERA over 64.1 IP w/ 77 Ks and a 1.35 WHIP

    Brewers acquire Tyler Jay: In MLB — 0-0, 7.71 ERA over 4.2 IP (4 ER) w/ 3 Ks and a 2.14 WHIP

Jay was optioned to the Sounds.

Pretty small trade. Don’t see Shook doing anything in the majors with a 4.90 in AA but you never know. Jay can provide some help this year if needed.

  3. Might adding another lefty mean Hoby would be on the chopping block when Devin comes back??
