[Hogg] – Doug Melvin: “I’m retired in Florida now. There are nights where I’ll grab a whiskey, sit out on the patio and pull up (Braun) highlights on YouTube. There’s a lot of highlights; I’m drunk by the end of the night.”

I went to see the Brewers in Miami one year and sat in a section next to Doug Melvin and Rick Schlesinger. They looked like they were with family so I didn’t say anything during the game. But as we were leaving I just said “team looks good this year” and he just nodded at me. Glad he’s doing ok.
We’ve all been there
Such a great g.m. Im not sure how hed do in todays game with the analytics. But he built the best Brewers team ever in 2011 imo.
He’s a Brewers legend, IMO. They had been irrelevant my entire conscious life until he came around and made them relevant. He’s like the Brewers equivalent of Ron Wolf.
Met Doug a few times when I was working in minor league baseball. He had a summer home near the town I worked in after he retired. He would stop by when we were playing a brewers affiliate. And would come into the press box and grab rosters etc and have a little chat. Thanked him for making some great memories back then for a young brewers fan like me. Good guy.
