In this episode of Habs Daily News, Coach provides an overview of the Montreal Canadiens players under 25 years old, emphasizing that things are getting much better for the team.

Coach presents a graphic with the top 15 forwards and discusses what’s missing and how the Habs need to improve the team the right way.

Additionally, he talks about the possibility of trading Anderson and suggests that Hughes needs to make more package deals to clear out some of the excess assets the Habs currently have.

  1. I'm going to keep saying it. Edmonton can't keep their team especially if they want to keep McDavid and they screwed themselves paying Darnel Nurse 9 million a year. Montreal needs to go after Draisaitl and you have your top 6 line up right there (Draisaitl, Dach, Demidov) and (Caufield, Suzuki, Slaf). Line 3 can be Newhook, Roy, Hage/Messar/Beck. line 4 I'm still keeping Pezzetta/Gally until his contract is up/and another grinder. We are flush with Picks, Prospects, Vets to trade, and Cap Room. Edmonton has none of them. I'd offer quite a bit for a sign and trade deal for Draisaitl (1st round 2025, 2026, 3rd round 2025, 4th round 2026, two prospects, and throw in Anderson). Get him on a 5-6 year deal and that puts his contract ending around the same time as Suzuki, Caufield, and Slaf so if things haven't worked out you can rebuild at that point. But getting him next season puts Habs in immediate playoff contention.

  2. Thanks for this Coach….love these dailies and the research you are doing…helps speed up time until the puck drops again this fall. I prefer this to trade speculation.

  3. Thanks Coach for great daily.. Other notables: Xavier Simoneau – LC (23), Sean Farrell – LC (22), Jacob Perreault – RW (22), Luke Tuch – LW (22), Jared Davidson – LC (22), Riley Kidney – LC (21), Sam Harris – LW 21

  4. Definitely when you look at our u25 forward core its exciting. If we are able to get a player like Michael Misa, Porter Martone, Roger McQueen and get that ELITE top 6 forward to really round it out. It looks amazing on PAPER. However i have some concerns. Firstly cap. If all these guys pan out to the players we THINK then its gonna be basically impossible to resign everyone to big contracts. Secondly our forward core still has many questions. Demidov hasnt played 1 NHL or AHL game yet and hasnt recorded a single point in the KHL. Hes still a question. Michael Hage. 0 AHL or NHL games. And more. Not that i think they ARE bad players. I think its just something we have to address as if Ivan Demidov was a bust. Our future would be screwed. This is why we must still prioritize young elite forwards.

  5. They definitely need to start moving some of these assets- another option is trading for picks in future drafts. At least that way, not all the players in the pipeline are the same age and they can keep bringing up cheap players on ELC when their cap is more of an issue.
