Thank you/merci Coach ☕
They need to have help with coaching to play the correct way for success in playoff hockey yes have to get bigger and faster to win puck battles and be hard to play against but coaching is a big issue with Habs now for teaching how to play playoff hockey
I think the Habs are a team being built for the playoffs they just have to make it there
Maybe not this year ,but we have that player , Florian
Fabian xhekaj
Great analysis Coach concerning lack of physicality! Of Habs forward prospects to hopefully make the team this season or next, only Florian & Tuch can be considered 'physical'. In time they replace the physicality of Pezzetta & Anderson so no change. Roy, Demidov, Beck, Kapanen & Hage are more finesse players as are Dach/Newhook so something will have to be done. The 1st line is good with Slaf plus Suzuki plays big.
In a year or two the defence will be extremely physical with Guhle, Xhekaj, Mailloux, Reinbacher and Struble all happy to use the body so Hutson's size will not be an issue.
Coach, I will agree with you that the Habs absolutely NEED that One player who can hit, but there are still far too many holes on this team to be filled for that to make a serious impact. The one stat that impressed me a LOT about Florida is that they improved on the PK from 23rd to 6th. That is a HUGE improvement and just one area where the Habs need to improve. That improvement WILL come, but it will take some time still as Habs have soo many young and inexperienced Defencemen either on the roster now or about to make the jump to the NHL. Until those players acquire the right training/coaching and experience, the team will continue to struggle. I agree we need a Josh Anderson-type player in his prime who could HIT and score. We also need a bonafide #1 QB to run the PP and who can get the puck to the FW's to create more Offence. Montreal will STILL require a better Goalie than what they have now. Monty MIGHT still develop into a top-tier goalie, so too might Primeau and Dobes and one or more of the prospects, but they arent there yet. Not really close either. Habs also need a healthy Dach to reach his potential, which will help Newhook reach his potential too. Still lots of holes and weak links on this team, but moving forward there are pieces here now that SHOULD make '24-'25 a better season than last.
Montreal needs in Order : 1. a #1 Center 2. A #1 defenseman 3. A #1 goalie 4. Another scoring winger 5. Power Play quarterback 6. Top quality second pair defender.
They might have that starting goalie the power play quarterback and the second pair defender in the barn already but the others they still need to get.
