Haaa they’re 4 years removed from a Stanley Cup finals. Save some of that patience and wisdom for the 67’ project.
I agree that this year we’d like to take a step in the right direction but we expect this year to probably be the last year of being nowhere near the playoffs. The 25-26 season is where I think this team pushes for a playoff spot & you’ll see a much more complete & competitive team that only improves each year.
People have to remember that this rebuild has only been in effect for three years. Yes, they should start getting better in the standings but they are right on schedule. THere is no panic, unlike teams such as Buffalo, Detroit, and Ottawa. Not to throw shade at those teams either, it's just that Montreal has been in this position for a normal amount of time when thinking about rebuilds.
25-26 is a good guess to when they'll be expected to start winning. This year there will be even more young players from the first prospects getting in the team and it will be a learning year for that bigger core.
Show me energy, hockey intelligence and will to win and I will be happy with the results. Even if they are still in the bottom 10 at the end of the year.

They need to be competitive this year. If they are out of the playoff race completely by the trade deadline, then I would be worried.

Look how long Ottawa buffalo Florida and yes Toronto took or are still taking. If Montreal gets there in six years. Those teams should be amazed at how fast Montreal was
Hutson and Mailloux are going to be stars. Monty, Xhekaj, Barron and Guhle are signed on good deals. Their stars Caulfield, Suzuki and Slaf are signed on good long term contracts
Be patient only yr 3 of rebuild only 1 top pick from last 3 drafts slaf in nhl takes time dont be bergevin
Habs need to hire Gerard Gallant. Keep Marty on as a Player Development guy. Or hire another coach that can be a playoff coach.
Could be worse you could be the leafs. Predicted to win it all but choking in the playoffs

Habs move up 4-5 spots this year the Atlantic is Brutal. My bet is Leafs don't even make the playoffs this year
Yeah, there are so many great stories with the Habs, unfortunately making the playoffs will not be one of them.
Keep going, Steve. You almost see what the Canadiens are trying to do here. They might even draft fifth overall again and Hughes and Gortman won't worry too much about it. Leafs? Playoffs again, for sure. Maybe even as far as the second round again.

No rush. As a Habs fan the last thing I want is the team to veer from their multi year plan and become the next Ottawa Senators or Buffalo Sabres. A couple of years away from expecting to make the playoffs. That conference is brutal also.
2nd rate owner. 3rd rate fans.
But I do like the GM.
I think the defense needs to cook. I think Fowler needs to be ready to take the number one net position. I think they will be better this year and then better next year I think 26-27 will be a year of interest
As long as there is progress to look foward. There is still progress possible from our fowards until Demidov is ready. At Defense we will know more where we stand when we see more from hutson, Mailloux and reinbacher.
When was the last time the Habs had a 90 point scorer answer me this? 😂
Habs should win some games this year for that winning culture. Im not too worried about guys like Suzuki Slaf and Caufield who always give 100% effort into wins. Im worried about the Hutsons the Reinbachers who at a young age don't build that winning culture anymore. That being said. We are a better team then last year. Last year we had 76 points. If your an elite prospect and your debut year your team gets 75-85 points. You won't build that bad energy. Which is good.
They still are closer to a cup then Dangle's team 😂
They got core locked for like 8 years at like 24 mill/year. They got 8 years to win.
It would not surprise me to see Montreal make the playoffs before Ottawa. I believe they are closer for sure with the steps they took last season.
Funny Steve. The laffs ha e been in a "rebuild" stage since Matthews was drafted. What do they have to show for it? 1 playoff series win in over how many years???? Stop flapping your gums.
