Thanks OP, fantastic.
According to a reporter, Daniel Bouchard (Quebec’s goaltending coach) said they’d found a soft spot in Patrick’s style after Game 2.
Bad thing to say.
My childhood memories! 8 year old me was so excited!!
Thanks for posting. Great memories of a better time. Just awesome!
I wonder what has happened to mcsorelys stick…
I was driving back from a hockey tournament in Quebec and listened to the final islanders game on the radio.
What a way to experience a playoff win.
Quick recap: trailed 2 games to the Nordiques but then won 4 in a row, swept buffalo, went 3 in a row against the Islanders, lost one and closed it out in game 5, lost game 1 to LA, won the next 4.
That’s 11 wins in a row (record at the time, I think). They beat 3 teams by winning 4 in a row, only the Islanders managed to stop them once they got going. They only lost 4 games, including games 1 and 2 vs QC. In other words, after losing twice to start the playoffs they proceeded to win 16/18 games.
Habs went to OT 11 times in that post season. They lost game 1 vs the Nordiques in OT, then won the next 10 OT games they appeared in. 2 vs QC, games 2-3-4 vs Buffalo, 2 games vs Islanders, games 2-3-4 vs LA. Don’t know if there’s a record, but they went to OT and won 3 games in a row twice.
