As a back surgery guy, just knew it was only a matter of time
More pressure on the young guys. Hopefully they can overcome post-season jitters.

Felt like this was inevitable. Really stings because his bat makes this lineup really lethal with how Chourio is playing. Best for the long term honestly.

GOOD. GREAT. GRAND. WONDERFUL.
Yelich in 2019
Devin in 2021
Woodruff in 2023
Yelich in 2024
When will it end
Shit.
Figured it was coming but god damnit
Just fell to my knees in a Culver’s
I expected this announcement as soon as he went down with back issues again. Hopefully it goes well and he’s ready for 2025.
Brewers are lucky to have some decent depth there, but his absence will still definitely be felt in September/October.
someone call Brook Lopez’s guy
For the best. Need these extra months before this season ends to heal up for 2025 season.
Worst cake day for OP ever
I’m curious as to what happened here. Did something flare up? New doctor came into the conversation? Reconsidered?
I hope he can make a quick recovery. Already looking forward to next spring.
Would have been so sweet getting him back healthy for the playoffs, but this was the outcome I was expecting. I feel terrible for him
Fuck! I was thinking this was inevitable, but we need yelich! Ughhhhhh
This is absolutely the correct decision.
The baseball gods cannot allow us even a few hours of peace.
Frozen mixed vegetable cocks.
I’m so scared that he’s never gonna be the same again
Thanks for trying Yeli
Horrible news and yet if it’s a smart long-term decision then it’s right move.
If there’s any chance he can keep his career going, the surgery needed to happen eventually. I know he wanted to muscle through to be a part of this run, but this is honestly best for him and might be long term the best for the Brewers too. Who knows, maybe post surgery Yelich is an MVP.
Well we were able to split with the Dodgers without him, but without him I don’t think we’re gonna go far in the post season. Sucks because he was getting back to MVP form before this happened.
Has he had surgery before or was it always rehab? Too lazy to look
Does he have a herniated disc or something? Have they ever said what he has going on?
Felt like this was inevitable especially with the radio silence the past couple of weeks. Being able to take him off the 40 man is also gonna help with our roster flexibility these next couple of weeks. Hope to have back healthy opening day next year.
Rest up king, we’ll need you for the back-to-back World Series run. It’s up to Jackson and the rest of the young guys now.
When I specifically asked him not to be?
I knew it was coming eventually. Hard to believe could play through it and even if he did it would be very limited capacity. But was more about vibes for the team and inspiration if he was able to get out there. I’m glad they finally decided on a path though
I just saw his video on Instagram 🥺
Damn this is brutal. As an Angels fan I experience this regularly but it’s tragic to witness 2 greats miss soo much time. Especially with Yeli looking like his old self again.
I’ve seen enough, bring back Braun. If the A’s can copy Major League, we can copy Mr. 3000
I’m so upset… but I think 2025 might be the year the Brewers go all in (or they should). In the meantime, I’m excited to see what this young roster does in the playoffs.
Is anyone ever really better after getting back surgery?
Fuck it lets be like the braves and win the whole thing when acuna was out with the ACL
Devasting, feel for Christian. This was a tough decision for him
I am going to go play with traffic
Fuck
This fuckin’ blows man…
Gutted.
#SHIT DOUBLE FUCK
Get him Brook’s back surgeon
Why does the universe always have to kick the Brewers in the nuts? Bob Uecker deserves to call a World Series win.
I just fell to my knees at Culver’s
If he has an MIS hemilaminectomy, microdiscectomy, foraminotomy, there’s a decent chance he would be back to play at 90% *IF the surgery is successful*. If he has even a single level lumbar fusion he will have a slim chance to return. If he somehow he returns, he will swing a bat like Bob Uecker.
