  1. The contracts being two years are diabolical. Sure, you can probably resign both with Kane's LTIR space, but what happens next year when Draisaitl and Bouchard need resigning? This move isn't just the Blues trying to improve their lineup, they are actively trying to implode the Oilers.

  2. I don’t get this for St. Louis. I get liking Broberg, but not at 4.5 and sending away a 2nd round pick. It’s weird because if I was Edmonton GM and St Louis offered me a 2nd round pick for unsigned Phillip Broberg, I’d just say yes immediately. Heck, I probably wouldn’t have offered Edmonton more than a 3rd if I was a GM trying to acquire him.
I’d be interested to know if there was any trade talks surrounding Broberg to St. Louis. Did STL offer a 2nd? Did EDM say no? Because aggressively overpaying on both pick value and cap hit for 2 years when Cody glass just got traded with a 3rd to get rid of his 2.5×1 contract is insane to me.

  3. as an edmontonian i ain’t too worried give em broberg we ain’t tryna win when he’ll be in his prime we’re tryna win rn, skinner and arvidsson and a second for broberg isn’t bad in my opinion

  4. As a Blues fan, I chatted with some Oilers fans on IG about this morning. I didn’t know these players very well until I saw them in the playoffs. Holloway had a great SCF and Broberg was solid. If we keep these two players, I’m excited to see what they can do. With getting Broberg, that’s tells me Krug will not play at all during the season with his injury which will be a big win for the Blues considering how big of a liability he is. But I wish him nothing but the best during his recovery and I never wish what he goes through on anyone.

  5. Draisaytl and Mcdavid new contracts in back to back years. How do they keep them both when easily $30m clmbined.

Usually when teams have to start shedding talent they've won cups.

  6. As a oilers fan it’s sucks knowing that we are gonna lose one of these players I rather see us keep holloway he’s a player that could break out for the oilers because this past year he showed promise and it will suck to lose broberg but we just can’t afford to match it

  7. I think your guessing correct here, Broberg has his final days connected to the Oilers this week. What I and a lot of fans are sad about is that he just started looking like the next Klefbom (hopefully injury free) and it sucks losing him for a second. Especially when we were offered Buchnevich for them both at the deadline…

  8. Bowman is not a good GM, at best he lets both walk at worst which I think is probable is he matches Broberg while simultaneously keeping the team in Cap hell.

  9. Hot take: With the Oilers acquiring Savoie in the offseason, Holloway is the one they’re going to let go.

LTIR Evander Kane allows the team to kick the Broberg overage into the season where they may get more injury issues OR another team runs into injuries issues they maybe able to unload a contract.

They absolutely can’t keep both because of Draisaitl and Bouchard needing new contracts next offseason.

  10. I’m an Oilers fan, it makes more sense to keep Holloway and let Broberg walk. That is just too much for him at this point (imo). Holloway shows more promise than Broberg, he stepped up throughout the season compared to Broberg.

  11. I would let them both go and kick them in the ass on the way out. The highest level players are taking discounts to win in Edmonton and these clowns want to go play one of the worst teams in the league… Enjoy the overpay St. Louis!
