Should The Montreal Canadiens Retire Carey Price’s Jersey? Plus Habs Offer Sheet Targets

Should The Montreal Canadiens Retire Carey Price’s Jersey? Plus Habs Offer Sheet Targets

This week, Montreal Canadiens legend Ken Dryden implied the decision to retire Carey Price’s jersey was “pretty clear”. Is he right? Should the opinion of Habs legends factor into these decisions? Plus, with the news of two offer sheets being filed, Laura and Ian discuss whether or not the Canadiens should use an offer sheet next summer. And finally, if Nick Suzuki were to be away, who would make a good replacement as Habs captain?

  1. When we look at the impact, contribution and success of the legends whose jerseys are retired, I can't imagine Carey Price among them. If we start that, we're not finished! We will have to remove the numbers of Mats Naslund, Andrei Markhov, Bobby Smith, Denis Savard, Guy Carbonneau, Vincent Damphousse, Kirk Muller, Doug Jarvis, Pierre Larouche, Pierre Mondou, Alex Kovalev and so on… There wont be enough numbers available for new players! New jerseys will have to start with numbers 100 and above…

  2. IMO, winning the Stanley Cup shouldn't be one of the reason to get into the Hockey Hall of Fame because I think it's more of a team cup than an individual cup. What should count are breaking records, individual trophies, individual career achievements, etc.

  3. if any number that i think should be up there before Price is LEMAIRE .AND SHUTT .you don.t get your number retired for showing up for work .now if he would of won in 2021 .then yea .all of the players whose numbers are retired have multiple stanley cup wins
