[Oilers Access] Bruce Garrioch: The Oilers are trying to trade Cody Ceci and Brett Kulak to match offer sheets for Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway. Teams have shown interest, but are asking for a 1st or 2nd to take either contract knowing Jeff Jackson/Stan Bowman are cornered.

  1. The excitement of this is delicious for Blues fans. We either get two good players, maybe for an overpay, but that’s to be determined, OR Stan Bowman and the Oilers have to lop off an arm to try and keep their dudes.

  2. I understand Broberg has potential, but trading Kulak and Ceci while having to give up first round picks would be terrible asset management for a contending team.

  3. The Oilers are fucked no matter what:

    1) Trade Kulak & Ceci for 2025 1st and 2nd rounders. And this season, have no room nor capital to make deadline moves. Next offseason, look to dump cap space, by losing more trades, to make room for both Draisaitl and Bouchard raises, putting them in further cap hell.

    2) Lose one/both players, gain a 2nd and/or 3rd round pick, and not have young depth coming up in their team.

  4. something i don’t understand about the offer sheets. why would we offer +- double of what the player was even seeking? do we think they’re that good, or is it just trying to force them to overpay?
