ugh…another year without the playoffs would be rough…
Unfortunately they’re going to better than that and get a worse draft pick.
Whoever making this prediction is on crack
I feel like we’ll finish 2nd or 3rd in the wild card
I really don’t see a scenario where they miss again
Ah yes, just a few points out of the playoff last year, without losing key pieces, our young stars entering their prime and maturing, and adding at our biggest weakness (3rd/4th line) – naturally they’re gonna fall off by 11 points
edit: that’s including adding Holloway and Broberg – Yea this guys a moron.
Who is projecting them to finish 25th?
I’m not sure the team got better this offseason, and I think last season’s March hot streak obscured the true talent level. But I do think we were smart about our business this offseason, and the upside of Broberg and Holloway is worth the risk of overpaying them for the next two years.
Ultimately, I see us finishing 5th-7th in the Central and 18th-23rd in the league.
Hey! We won’t get 7th!
We’ll get 4th and miss wildcard by a point as usual.
I don’t think the team is worse than last year and they finished 16th, so unless 9 teams have improved that much and none have gotten worse then 25th is definitely low
I think they make playoffs but barely
We’ll definitely be better than that, which is slightly unfortunate. I wouldn’t mind a solidly bad year to polish out our prospect pool, but a season of competing is better for the kids.
This lineup looks better than last year for sure, hopefully the oilers can’t find a way to make it work… Broberg would be a great pickup.
People outside of St. Louis are REALLY sleeping on a team that finished 9th in the West last year and got better in pretty much all facets of the game. That was even before the potential additions of Holloway and Broberg.
This team has an identity again. We’re going to be faster, stronger on the forecheck, and better defensively.
I think we’ll be right there in the 14-18 range with a coinflip chance of making the playoffs. The only way we finish anywhere close to 25th is significant injuries to players I won’t even mention because I’m not putting that negative energy out there in the universe.
They will be better than that. Better shot at playoffs than last year. Not a cup winning team yet, but there will likely be good progress.

those top two lines have the potential to be straight up murderous. intrigued to see what Faksa has left in the tank, too. kapanen and perunovich good reserves.
d pairings, not so sure about those
It’s pretty hard to place them. They were a random ass on ice product last year. They got better in some areas on paper, but also there’s a lot of turnover on the roster so it’s hard to know what that ends up looking like on ice And it’s hard to know what they look like with Davis Payne coming into camp for a full season.
But 25th does seem pretty low.
People hating on this but it isn’t completely unfounded. If the offense doesn’t take a step forward and goaltending takes a step back, this could be accurate.
I’m not saying that’s what will happen, but if it does, it will be a long season.
Personally I think the offense will be better. The PP can’t be as non-existent as it was the first half of last season. Will Binnington be as solid as he was last year? Can Hofer pick up slack consistently if Binnington isn’t as rock solid? Those are my questions. I still think the Defense is below average. Scoring has to be up and goaltending needs to be rock solid for this to be a playoff team or even close to it. If the offense is bad and goaltending slips, this prediction is accurate.
Goaltending always is the key to success. D core played better last season and Bonny had a good year. If the goalies can maintain being average (not great), I still think we’re squeaking into the playoffs
by who? Somebody with no credibility? They’re not going to regress when they improved in the offseason, and they’re definitely not going to be behind the Minnesota Wild.
Its less that our team is worse its more that other teams got a lot better. Nashville and Utah got a lot better, Winnipeg, Dallas and Colorado didn’t get significantly worse.
That top row should worry any team we’re up against. With the beefed up bottom lines and Broberg and a healthy Faulk on D I think we make the playoffs. Also excited to see Texier and Holloway do work.
If those top two lines actually play like they’re capable of, this team could be sneaky dangerous. Only more dangerous would be if they gave Binner a machete instead of a stick, which, I’d approve of.
I think we’ll score more goals because Thomas, Neighbours, and Kyrou have another year of experience and are getting closer to their primes, and hopefully Schenn and Buchnevich won’t be as snakebitten, and the new role players Texier and Joseph will (please) do better than Kapanen and Blais and Vrana. I also think Bolduc is poised for a step, he had 5 goals and 4 assists in 25 games; compare that to 6 goals and 4 assists in 43 games in Neighbours’ freshman season.
But I could definitely see the defense being worse. I just have so many questions about Leddy, Faulk, and Parayko getting older, and I don’t have a ton of confidence in people we brought in like P.O. Joseph and Suter. Even if we get Broberg I don’t know how much impact he will immediately have. And I’m sorry to say I think Perunovich won’t do better than bottom pairing. I was high on him at the start of last year, but I just didn’t see it last season.
I like the tandem of Binnington and Hofer. They both had great years last year and I think they can even regress a little bit and they’ll still be fine. The defense has to cover those cross-ice passes to the back door and give the goalies help.
Where does that mean the Blues will place? No clue, let’s just get to the hockey season already.
They’re being wildly underestimated yet again.
I think we get Broberg, but not Holloway. Making the assumption we get both shows how stupid whoever posted this is lol.
Depends on Kyrou…is he a bum again or does he progress and play to his contract?
This is pretty out there
Probably pretty close, unfortunately
Not a chance they finish this low.
If Jordan Binnington plays anywhere near as good as he did last year we are a fringe playoff team. I can live with the blues being 14th-18th but 25th is far too low. We win 2 more games last year we probably make it in. If they just play the whole season decent and not be terrible for the first months and we are in.
I think we finish 3rd in the central
Bunch of bullshit.
As long as we stay healthy, we have decent chance to make playoffs.
Is it unfair to said we’ve got a weak 3rd line?
Sounds about right tbh
Who is the odd man out if Dvorsky sets the world on fire at camp and pushes for a roster spot? Obviously probably Walker but who gets scratched?
Yes, I am unashamedly high on Dalibor.
If Kyrou finally lives up to his potential we could be 16th. If not, 20 sounds right.
Do not comment about the lines. Do not comment about the lines. Do not comment about the lines. I can’t wait for Tuesday so I can start arguing about my ideal lines.
