Doug Armstrong just being an A$$ and spoiling the Oil’s party as he hands out BIG offers to both Broberg and Holloway that will definitely put new Oiler’s GM in a tough position! Broberg is soft ,wants too much money hasn't proven his worth yet. Holloway different story,he's ready for prime time. We need a tough dman with a mean streak now that we lost Vinny. Remember we got some good young defenceman in Bakerfeild. Or trade for one.
I can hear other GMs around the league, sure we can take that contract off your hands, for a first round pick. 😅

The OS still would have happened if Holland was GM. St. Louis does this all the time as they lead the NHL in tendering OS at 11 and Oilers lead NHL at OS tendering OS against them at 8 but 1 was voided by NHL
The dumbest thing that Stan Bowman could do is to make CAP SPACE for Broberg by trading :
1) Codi Ceci and the 2026 & 2027 1st round draft picks FOR 7th round draft pick
2) Brett Kulak and the 2028 & 2029 1st round draft picks FOR 7th round draft pick
Both players would make excellent rentals come TRADE DEADLINE for another 1st round draft pick from a Stanley Cup Contender resulting in providing a rebuilding team like CHICAGO or MONTREAL : THREE FIRST ROUND PICKS for ONE SEVENTH ROUND PICK !
And on top of that, CECI and KULAK are very good defensemen for their CAP HIT and would provide excellent depth for any contender.
BETTER SOLUTION :
Let Broberg walk and trade for the RIGHT HANDED defenseman JUSTIN BARRON
The Montreal Canadiens are stocked with more promising RIGHT HANDED defensemen like Logan Mailloux and David Reinbacher who they have to keep in the minors because Justin Barron will definitely be claimed on waivers. So from the Montreal Canadiens point of view, better get TWO third round picks THAN nothing,
This would make the Oilers defense look like this :
1) EKHOLM BOUCHARD
2) NURSE (A) BARRON ( As Alternate Captain Nurse must do more like to mentor BARRON )
3) KULAK CECI
4) JOSH BROWN ( When muscle is needed )
