Juraj Slafkovsky really stepped his game up in the last few months of the 2023-2024 campaign. Once referred to as a bust, things took a sharp turn in the beginning of March 2024 where he put up a whopping 35 points in 40 games as a 19 year old.
Here are some of his great pays that didn’t result in a goal or point.
Enjoy!
Only clowns refered to this kid as a bust. 39 game rookie season and trolls were the only ones saying that. He went from the Finnish men’s league at 17-18 (31 games to the NHL at 18-19. The jump in competition/skill/speed etc must have been breath taking for the kid.
Finally finds his feet the last 40 games of a 82 game season.
It’s called progression, his is going to be wild.
Kids got all the tools, people just need Patience with a capital P.
Kid looks so dangerous and there’s still so many areas he can take to the next level
I feel like his skating could use some minor adjustments or improvements, so the fact that he’s already surprising defenders with his speed and blowing by them is scary
His shot and release could be a bit faster/better, if it does he’s a lock to get 25+ goals every year
I was at the Washington game where he scored two (including a monster powerplay one timer) and put the league on notice. Kid is so fucking big, that’s what doesn’t come across on TV and what surprised me. He’s got all the shifty moves you want and the shot is underrated but then suddenly he’ll get into a puck battle along the boards and some NHL defensemen will get immediately bodied. He’s a tank with hands.
