  1. Makes sense. They’ve shown that the room is super tight knit and welcoming. Definitely don’t want to botch that by bringing in a potential question mark.

  2. Man, is Nick ever the perfect captain for the Habs. It’s almost as if it was written the minute he got to this team.

  3. Shows that they treat the C as a job and respect him too, which makes sense.

In Toronto does anyone care what whathisname has to say in the locker room?

  4. I think this should be kinda standard for all teams

If your captain really is what he’s supposed to be, which is the voice in the locker room, he should have some input on decisions that will affect the locker room. He’s gonna know the guys in a way the coaches and management never will

  5. I’d be more curious if Hughes asked Savard since he had one partial season overlap with Laine in Columbus. Plus he’d have a sense of whether the team culture there was problematic and how things went when Laine arrived.

  6. Well, yeah, that’s what a good gm should do, consult his leadership core before bringing in a star player

  7. I love how involved Suzuki is with everything the Habs do, a true great captain for this team
