Holy crap they actually did it
Wow. I believe Servais is the second longest-tenured manager in baseball, just a year behind Kevin Cash.
I wonder what Don Wakamatsu is up to these days
Damn I really thought they’d wait till the offseason.
Now do Jerry

scott out of servais
Thanks for your Servais
this is sad, i really rate scott servais as a manager but heads probably had to roll (especially since “T Mobile Park is an affront to God” is not an actionable problem)
I was positive they were gonna wait the year through.
I’m sure that will help lol.
holy shit
Good for Dan Wilson but man it’s a really tough spot to take over a team midseason with no managing or coaching experience
This is one of those shakeups where 54% of the time, it works every time.
It happens
I didn’t think they’d actually do it. One could almost say…”it happens.”
When asked about being fired after squandering a 10-game division lead, Servais replied: “It happens.”
Feel bad for Scott as he is a decent dude and I think he’s been a good manager, but the last two months have been unacceptable. This last road trip is one of the most demoralizing that I can remember.
We’ll be back doing this with Jerry in a year because John Stanton is the real problem with this organization.
most vocal online m’s don’t seem to feel this way, but i honestly am sad to see him go–as much as it seemed inevitable, and maybe even needed
How often does a city fire all 3 major sports head coaches in the same year?
Gimme a couple days I’m gonna come back with a conspiracy to cope…
Justin turner player manager who says no
It had to be done with the collapse this year but this team’s issues start with Stanton, then DiPoto and the front office, and then Servais.
Tough for Scott but with the vibes around the team right now this was the simplest move. Gonna be interesting to see how the team leaders react to this. He made many questionable decisions as a manager. But he will always be the guy who got us back to the postseason.
Feel bad for him, but I guess someone has to pay and the GM isn’t gonna fire himself.
This will always be my favourite Servais moment, the look on his face like a disappointed dad: https://youtu.be/xkPD-2UFFMY
Almost like slashing payroll immediately after being close to playoff contention wasn’t a good thing. Servais is being scapegoated for ownership and front office incompetence.
It happens—Scott
It was time. I’ll never forget you fighting the angels skip
Imagine finding out you’re getting fired via a news notification
While Servais was far from perfect, the real issues lie in the M’s ownership. Servais and Dipoto can only be as good as Stanton allows.
Congrats to Mark Kotsay, longest tenured AL West manager
yet again sinking back into “Hey guys remember 1995?” is very on brand
“Look guys it’s Dan Wilson! Remember 1995? Please keep coming to the games.”
Servais is a good manager; this is just an overreaction out of desperation.
