Hi r/Astros and other Ben Gamel enjoyers
Here’s a story on Jeff Bagwell’s forgotten, strike-shortened 1994 season:
>Bagwell’s best trait as a hitter? “He was tough as nails,” Astros manager Art Howe growled with delight.
>”One of [Bagwell’s] first at-bats, I remember we were in Cincinnati,” Howe said. “Rob Dibble came in the game, and this is a vivid memory: first pitch he threw to Bags, I don’t know how he got out of the way of it. Right at his head. Bags gets up, dusts himself off, gets back in his stance. Next pitch, he hits a line drive, almost took Dibble’s head off.

Too soon.
