Because of the way goaltenders play out, there is a very good chance the Habs have a better goalie in their system than Askarov will end up being.

It’s good to hear your GM at least going for the trade even if it doesn’t always pan out your way.
Wish the kid all the luck!
Kind of happy we didn’t pursue, would have cost us a 1st and Hage or something
I’m ok with betting on our current depth. Monty and Primeau with a full season should do well. If not, we have prospects coming to push them.
Wow such a weak return. We could have traded Mesar, Dobes and FLA 1st
Without seeing the return yet, it seems a little early for the Sharks to be making moves like this.
Kent Hughes is a madman and I’m all for it
Fowler >>>
No way we get him but I’m curious what the offer was
Depending on what it would have cost I am ok with this. Goalies are such wildcards that giving up assets for any prospects is always a risk. Between Monty, Primeau and Fowler I feel we should see what we have before giving up assets for what could be nothing.
Goalies are too unpredictable to trade for if they have basically zero NHL sample size
Sharks are looking so solid, their rebuild is going about as well as one can hope for so far.
There was no reason to trade for him. Montembeault IS a starter and Fowler is our next. Primeau can be traded for a good player or pick and we could sign a vet (Martin Jones) to back up Monty until he becomes Fowler’s.
Can’t believe we didn’t go for him, that wasn’t much of a return they got.
Didn’t they wanted our 2023 top 5 pick for Askarov but Habs said no ?
Honestly we have Askarov at home and he’s called Fowler and he’s one year younger than Askarov so yeah lol
No way you can predict how a good goalie in an inferior league will do in the NHL
