How Chris Tanev Completes the Maple Leafs Defensive Puzzle – PuckPulse

Slow new day. Yet do you think Tanev is the key to the Leafs defensive struggles? I have questions about him staying healthy, but think overall he is going to compliment Rielly and create one of the best pairings in the league this season.
While I think he will be the beat partner Rielly has had, I don’t expect to see the Tanev of last year
We need to calm this noise. Let’s remove the pressure so he can acclimate to this crazy town!
I think we’re all hopeful that he is the missing piece of the puzzle, but there are so many variables going into the year that I think it’s premature to say he completes the puzzle.
New coach, new systems, new setting for Tanev, new market for him to deal with etc…
And with due respect to the author of the article, it mentions nothing of his shortcomings. It makes him sound like we just got a Norris trophy finalist for 4.5mil/year
Healthy: very good chance he is
but the keyword here is healthy.
I’d rather hope the prospects and especially Lilli step it up in a big way to remove that uncertainty
Someone please tell me how Tanev’s arrival is any different from Muzzin’s arrival.
I still think they need another solid top 4 guy to have a defense that can go deep in the playoffs, even with perfect injury luck we are currently running either Benoit-McCabe or OEL-Llijegren as our 2nd pair. Both of those pairs are fine, but imo they would be third pairings on a cup champion team. Add in a bonafide top 4 d man at the deadline and pair him with any of the previously mentioned guys and we’re set
lol
Just annoying how the leafs always grab good D when they’re right about to pass their prime.
