That was interesting to think about
What about the greatest coach of all time
Me
Dale Tallon was responsible for this core, and if not for Jagrs tutalage it’s apparent Barkov would not be the player he is today. Bill Zito “filled in the gene sequence gaps from that of a frog. Now, some west African frogs have been known to change sex from female to male in a single sex environment. I’ll be, life found a way!”
Look I only saw Dale for a year but man that defense was terrible. And let’s not forget about the contracts he gave out. He did set up the core tho.
I think Tallon deserves much credit for this Panthers squad. However, he was very stubborn when it came to "tall, big players" (ex: Bjugstad, Guddy) as well as his ties to the Blackhawks (ex: Campbell, Bolland, Versteeg, Olsen, Pirri) Heck, I'm pretty sure we incorporated the organ music use because of Tallon's ties to Chicago as well. Overall his hands were tied with the ownerships he had to deal with but he's okay in my book. Great vid, Eric!!!
Tallon was at his best when the team was in pure rebuild mode and a top 5 pick at the Draft table.
I ain’t giving Tallon shit
W video, very interesting figure in this organization you discussed
Dale Tallon at his best is the rebuild. He has a tougher time getting past that. Its funny that in both Chicago and Florida he practically built the core and then was moved on to someone else fitting the pieces in.
Tallon is great for a team rebuild but I think he has trouble putting those last few pieces together to finish the job. However his drafts were usually really good
A big difference between Tallon and Zito is, Tallon and ownership were not on the same page. Imagine if ownership had stepped in and took control from Zito after the 2022-2023 season. And tried to tell Maurice how to coach during that season. That's essentially what happened to Tallon.
Also Zito inherited a team that age wise was needing to be in their Stanley Cup window. But he also inherited a team with much more talent throughout the organization than Tallon did, because of Tallon. Zito deserves a lot of credit, but he and Tallon entered in two different situations.
Tallon entered into a tear down rebuild entering the franchise. Even with that, when he was usurped, he had a team that was trending up to the top the division with most of the players in their early 20s, and with Ekblad in his teens (and had a division title and a drought ending playoff appearance within a rebuild).
I still believe that, that team in 2015-2016 was poised to go deep in the playoffs if ownership didn't interfere with Gallant's coaching during the season. And very confident that the team would have attained a Stanley Cup if not multiple Cups well before this last season. It took 8 years since that ownership take over, to win the cup.
Love the new editing style! Very modern! very formatted with how most of the community post, great direction for the channel jaws! Question, have you ever thought about formatting the video to fit on TikTok/Facebook reels? that's how most people find content now could mean much more exposure
