If you go back and watch the McGroarty presser, when asked if he was guaranteed an NHL roster spot, he did not say no. He replied that he was guaranteed a roster at the rookie camp. He actually does not answer the question of why he didn't want to sign with Winnipeg either. He is quite the politician. By the way, love your videos, great content, keep them coming. 🙂
If Draisaitl and McDavid together pull in a cool $30 million, then Edmonton may become like Toronto and be too top heavy with their star forwards' contracts.
the oilers have said they want their 4 top paid players sitting at $49M combined. if leon gets $14M connor $16M and bouchard $12M they’ll be at $54M with the nurse contract. all that being said, nurse is looking more and more expendable as they negotiate the big 3 contracts in the next few years
Hopefully LB has a good season.
Now this is interesting. The top 4 salaries on the 2023 Golden Knights were about $10 million less than the top 4 salaries on the Leafs. The Golden Knights won the cup. The Leafs? Well…..
Connor or Leon would secure an elite amount of capital if they trade one to Pitt or Boston.
Too bad McGroarty didn't like the way it felt in Winnipeg. I would have enjoyed watching him here. I think he is a talent and the Jets would have benefited from his rugged play style and skill set. However, I very much look forward to Brayden Yager playing here when he is NHL ready. I like the trade. I give the edge to Pittsburgh, at this time, hard to say about the future though, perhaps Winnipeg makes out the better.
Draisatl is worth that much, good bye Cup chances once it kicks in though.
And the Oilers will go the way of the Leafs. Or they could trade for stone and LTIR him and win like Vegas
Seth Jones making 9 mil is a huge yikes for them.
curious what the conversations about the oilers paying two players $30 million will be if they dont have a cup
I didn’t even know about this. Way to set a trend, Blues!
Draisaitl is the second best player in the league so no problem
Probably with Vegas letting Marchy and Stephenson walk puts them in play
Love the oilers but this will be the end of them, you can't have depth with those two huge contracts. look at Reinhart signing for 8.5. Hyman is getting 5, is Draisaitl worth 3 Hymans? NO. Sad I really hope McDavid and Draisaitl could win cup but with them taking all the money they wont have enough depth.
Chicago…the city where surgeries go down
Guess will be using Daily Face -Off for Line Combinations and Starting Goalies for my NHL Play Station 4 , to prepare for my new season , now will have to find a nice 2024-25 NHL Game Schedule, (Now ESPN – future – any Help ?)
IDK how the oilers make it work with the top 2 highest paid players in the league. Knowing McDavid is going to get more than 14 that roster is going to be very tough to construct. Don't envy that GM one bit
No he doesn’t how much do they need. He should help the team as his legacy will be Stanley cups. That is how he will be remembered.
14 million could buy a whole lotta depth.
Oilers with highest paid losers.
With Brossoit out for a little bit, it will be interesting to see if Comesso can beat out Soderblum for the back up goalie position.
Teams don’t disclose contacts because the league does not want them to. The league believes this is all proprietary information.
Brossoit out 5-7 weeks, then he'll easily be availaible for the season's start.
Team GMs don't want to give team info away if they didn't have to. The info is great for the game because it gets fans more into it…
Drai already 'gave' a discount on his current contract. If he's paid $14-15mil/season, would anyone dare to say he's NOT worth that money…? He's the 2nd best player in the world…
Window closing for oilers. Perfect
Pay the man Oilers, whatever he wants 😊
Same with McJesus… pay em whatever they want…yes… yes
If Draisaitl takes anything over 13M he isn't trying to help the team
u thought that $13.5M over 8 years would b good enough for Leon, seejng they all tentatively agreed to make team-friendly-enough deals to go for some Stanleys… BUT he certainly can get $14M from any team in the league
Yeesh, I guess $10 million per year is 4th liner money or something! People who say, "Draisaitl deserves $14 million per year!" I have to disagree! The Owners/GM's determine the players salary(there is a good deal where they make mistakes). The NHL salary cap ceiling is growing, but they are not the NFL/NBA/MLB! I wouldn't make such an issue with Draisaitl getting $14 m if that idiot Darnell Nurse wasn't getting paid double over what he performs at. If Draisaitl takes $14 million, then it handcuffs the team cap wise in allocating salary for other positions of need.
So, basically, it's the last year Oilers can compete for the Cup..
Draisatil would be well worth 14million, but then the question is – how much is McDavid going to get? 18million?
Such a majestic news video Shannon, Leon s pay is also very majestic.
Do you think Blues did this because of the offer sheets they put out there against the oilers ?
14m is a higher % of cap than Mcdavid's 15.72% at the start of his contract.
I hope teams start following the Blues' model, I think more transparency like this is good for the league.
Draisaitl's playoff performance doesn't really motivate that kind of contract, does it? After all, it's in the playoffs it matters.
Not much is mentioned about Bouchard who is also due a big raise as well (next season too). I wonder if there isn’t a bit of remorse about giving the human ‘pylon’, (Nurse), over $9.0 million per. Imagine the Oilers have to pay up Draisaitl, Bouchard and McDavid over the next two years. They’re going to wish they had a situation like Toronto.
Oh but hes gonna take a team discount 😂 i hope he gets 15mill per season
Get ready for $25 beers at Rogers Place after Draisaitl signs his contract.
The Oilers had two of the top 5 players in the NHL $20mill ($8 for Drai, $12 for McJesus), why on gods green would Drai take ANOTHER discount?
Yup sign a goalie with a bad knee, good work Davidson!!
As a Jets fan I'm happy Brossoit didnt have that surgery last season 😅
Let him walk and get 2 good players for the price of one. The McDraisaitl formula isn't working.
huh paying a player that much thats never won a Stanley cup ring the players that have should be outraged! 🤷♂️🤔👍
