I like what he brings to the team, both on the field and in the dugout, but realistically I can’t think of a scenario where this team is better off matching the deal he will get on the open market vs rolling with a middle infield of Ortiz and Turang for the next 5 years, plus using the $ savings to lock up a pitcher or two.
There’s no chance spending big on willy would be good for the team.
I’d benefit from a Willy extension.
Not paying Rhys Hackins 34 mil over 2 years woulda helped…
