  1. When Cowan was drafted he was listed at 5' 10" & 174 lbs. He claims he's now 6' & 191 lbs. I saw him in the hand shake line at the Mem Cup with Owen Beck, a Montreal prospect. Beck is 6' & 190 lbs. They looked virtually identical in stature standing side by side, so can we all move on from the 'small forward' bullshit? He's obviously had a significant growth spurt from when he was drafted & he just turned 19 in May. He started with the Kights on the 4th line, played his way up the line-up & the rest is history.

Guys like Braydon Point are 5' 10", 189 lbs. He can play. Kucherov, Marchand, Gallagher, Fiala, Acciari, Domi, Marchessault, Makar, Girard, Fox & a fair few other NHLers are all under 6' tall & it has not hampered their ability to compete. Cowan is wired the right way & he's the same size as Jarnkrok & Holmberg so he's big enough. He was the last cut at camp in '23 & he's coming off a MVP OHL season & MVP OHL playoff, so he just might be good enough to stick, or at least get 9 games in to start. We're going to find out fairly soon. Cautiously optimistic.

  2. The Red eings is not a good example of scouting deep rounds. No k e was scouting outside of the NHL the Ted wings hired the first scout from Europe. He knew what we didn't in N.A. it was a brilliant job of scouting. They were just first.

  3. Really excited to see this kid play. I think that he may not start the season with the Leafs but we can expect to see him in the lineup towards the end of the year and into playoffs potentially.
