Day #30 of posting a random Lion until Lions kickoff – Jeff Backus

Jeff always on my Back us
Offensive lineman have definitely gotten more athletic the last decade.
Backdoor Backus
Jeff Back Us up (Holding! False Start!)
Jeff Sackus
Crazy looking back at him and Raiola and remembering I thought they were decent for their time. We signed Damien Woody and I thought “man we are going have a line!” Hindsight is 20/20 but man Backus and Dom were both mid.
My dude played twelve seasons and missed LITERALY ONLY ONE GAME!
He grades out at about 15/32 in both pass pro and run blocking during the time he played. He was paid 50.4 million in his time here.
A franchise left tackle for over a decade, who is never hurt, for less than five million a year.
Jeff Backus haters get their Lions news from the Facebook page.
One of the more underrated and underappreciated OT in Lions history. He always had to cover for shitty OG lining up next to him. Once he had a decent OG, he was fine.
Jeff Backup
Love when the big boys get love
Let Julius Peppers get by, which led to a sack, which caused Stafford to blow out his shoulder. Shaun Hill comes in and throws the game winning touchdown to Calvin Johnson, only for it to be called back because of the infamous “didn’t complete the process” rule. I never forget
A man ahead of his time (or was just on the wrong team) the way they call holding these days
Jeff Backus: too good to ever lose his job, not good enough to ever be anything more than average. But he sure did play forever it seemed like.
I did some work at his house when I was in high school (06′) Him and his wife were super nice people. I worked with one of my Dads neighbor hood friends. We built and installed custom iron railings for his house in Novi. I was shocked by how large NFL Lineman were. He lived in the same fenced in community as Chis Osgood.
The perfect example of a mid-tier starting LT. Would give you some good days but then would get beat and penalized by elite rushers. Didn’t help LG was a revolving door during his tenure.
“False start, number 76, offense” is burned in my brain right up there with Christmas songs and dialogue from the Big Lebowski.
Did some work in his house, super nice and down to earth guy.
