How One Play Led To 20 Years Of Losing For The Pirates

Anybody want to see the saddest moment of my sports life?

This play didn’t lead to the next 20 years or beyond. Cheap ownership did. Even if Bream was out, the game was already tied. Even if the Pirates win that game and then win the World Series, ownership would still be what they are. Also, too many fans like to act like Bonds is the reason the Pirates lost. They conveniently forget everything else that transpired that inning. Was Bonds pitching? Did he commit an error at 2nd base that opened the door for a big inning?
I lived it. Had box seats to game one and two of the WS.
I can’t even stand to watch the video. Over 30 years later, it’s still too soon.
89-92 was a three year anomaly like 13-15 was. We’re over 40 years into this thing.
