A loss is a loss. Not the best time for one, but it is what it is. JV shouldn’t be pitching for us in the post season, though. If he does, it should be very limited. I love the guy. But much like Kershaw, his time is coming to an end.
I think what annoys me the most about this game was Espada leaving JV in that situation.
I’m not going to ask why, because I get it. He’s a veteran that’s got to be able to get out of those jams and he has in the past. Heck, he pulled plenty of magic tricks to escape jams against the Reds in his last start. And the potential long man in Blanco was used in the previous game.
Thing is, bro has looked cooked. I can’t remember if he got a single strikeout in that last start and I know he didn’t get one in this one.
Espada can leave JV in and pray to the BABIP gods all he wants, but that’s a chance the Astros couldn’t really afford to make rn and they did. This game is the result.
Again though, I get why. I just don’t like it.
(Hopefully JV figures out what’s wrong and adjusts, and that their is still something left in the tank for him. Otherwise..)
It’s important that we have as big of a lead in the standings as we are able before we eventually face Seattle one last time this year. They had a 10 game lead in the standings at one point and squandered it, we have no room for such error and chance for recovery with so few games left.
We move on to the Athletics. They’ve been doing well lately but so have we. ‘Stros Pitching is (mostly) solid and the hitting has picked up. Hopefully greener pastures await us.
Go Astros!
One positive of this game is that chas appears to be hitting. This is good
Chas had 3 hits today. There were some promising sights tonight, atleast they didn’t make it a boring blowout
Unfortunately the game was over before it started..hopefully we keep first place in the division 🤞🤞🤞
If Espada had just yanked JV when the bases were loaded we may have had a chance in this one
Justin Verlanders position as a starter is completely untenable at this point. There is no argument that can be made that justifies trotting him out to lose every game he plays in.
70+ pitches to get 9 outs isnt even good enough for the bullpen
Verlander playoff starter question answered, lol
Have a fun time tonight, I did not.
I’d say let’s get ready for the A’s. We won the series, blew the f outa this game, it’s done.
Astros rule, in the end !!
JV is clearly in his sunset. Sadly, I had a gut feeling this sort of thing would happen based on the last two starts. But bats were alive and the series was already secured so no heartbreak this time.
Well Chas is hitting and the Texans won
Massive props to the offense for not rolling over and dying after getting behind 0-8 early but that non situational hitting that’s been an issue all season reared its ugly face again. Peña and Altuve striking out in key moments were painful. Probably wouldn’t have changed the outcome but those ABs were really deflating in a game where so much was already going wrong.
Needless to say, the Astros must take care of the A’s and Angles in the next two series.
Yeah, Verlander was awful tonight, but gotta give a little credit to Pavin Smith. He singlehandedly carried the Snakes to victory with his 8 RBI’s.
I understand trying to steal outs with Verlander, but I would’ve pulled him before the slam. If it was anyone else, sure, let him face him, but Smith already went yard once against Verlander. Can’t take that risk.
At least we won the series, which is really all that matters in the end, but it’s frustrating to lose when we need wins.
That being said, the Texans won today, and the new Beetlejuice is hilarious, so I’m not gonna let this L sour my mood.
Me to JV: “you’re not that guy, pal…ok?”
YO fuck disney and directv. That is all
12 hits and 6 runs and they still doubled us up.
I will be referring to JV as Kate Uptons husband again
JV is cooked. The offense is not; they were good today. Chas is hitting again!
Still won the series so we got that going for us
JV ain’t the guy (right now).
Just one game.
I’d like to swap out Ronel for JV.
The swing and miss #’s are depressing.
Chas has been good lately. We won the series against one of the leagues best and hottest teams.
JV gave up 8 runs and we still tried to mount a comeback.
Onto the next series!
Pavin Smith just hit for like 5% of his career RBIs in this game and he’s been in the league since 2020
Giving up 10+ runs and blowing up the pen is not ideal this late in the season
Father time has definitely caught up with JV
the fact that Chas came back from AAA being able to hit makes me think that maybe they need new hitting coaches or bring the ones they have in AAA 😅
