  1. I met their dad at the all-star game in Tampa – I asked him how to get my boy to the NHL. He didn’t say training or long practices, he just said encourage him and be a good dad.

We talked for about 30 minutes, just a very sweet, personable guy who was very proud of his boys. I’ve thought about him a lot lately. I can’t imagine how he must be feeling.

  2. OMG. This is such a heart break. His brother’s wife is also expecting. This is just horrible.

  3. Well, Im crying at work. Gosh dang it. The story just breaks me every time I think of the kids. I lost my mom in my twenties and I thought that was unfair and I needed more time. These kids didn’t even get 2 years. They probably won’t have any personal memories of their dad. Their new kid will never be held by him.

I came onto NHL subreddit to see the Nashville signings and now I am spiraling into thinking if I died my son would grow up without a father. And worse, the Gaudreau kids literally will grow up without a father.

  4. Watching that short video of her eulogy is gut-wrenchingly difficult.

It seems Johnny was blessed with an amazing family and support system, and I hope those kids always know how much he meant to so many. Here’s hoping Meredith can find peace and have a relatively stress-free pregnancy.

  5. A kid to never know their father due to a senseless idiot driving drunk…

life truly can be unfair at times man

  6. Jesus Christ this story just gets worse and worse. I can’t even begin to imagine that amount of pain. I hope the driver gets what he deserves and then some.

  7. Ok, this hit so hard. Not even Hollywood would come up with something like this for a drama. My heart completely breaks for the Gaudreau family.

  8. I’m going to bring it up, but I’m really concerned about Meredith; it even mentions in the article that they’ve had three kids in around 3 years of marriage, which is already not recommended (doctors recommend 18 to 24 months after one kid is born)…added to the stress of her husband being killed by a POS human being. This is just tragedy on tragedy.
