[Shams] Just in: Houston Rockets F AJ Griffin is seriously considering stepping away from basketball, sources tell me and @KellyIko. Griffin, 21, was the No. 16 pick in the 2022 NBA draft to Atlanta, then traded to Houston this summer. Sides are preparing for his departure from the game.

Thats random
Lmao so what about our pick?
He’s only 21 years old — wish him nothing but the best
End of an era
I don’t feel that surprised, because it really did feel like he was totally out of it during Summer League. It wasn’t so much that he sucked, but that he looked like he didn’t care. Wish him the best and hopefully he recovers eventually. At the same time, the Rockets front office should’ve done more homework here given how quickly he’s made the decision since the trade.
If that’s the case then it’s 100% the best choice for him. Something is seriously wrong with his mental health if he’s stepping away from the Nba at 21, hopefully he can get his life together. Wish him nothing but the best.
Wasn’t gonna play for this team anyways
Best of luck to him!
Damn that sucks, hopefully he recovers from whatever he is going through.
Wonder who takes his roster spot, maybe Jack McVeigh on a full time deal?
Damn wish we would have known that before we gave up a pick lol
21, he was a fuckin kid
If this goes through . I wish him all the best. Being an NBA player isn’t more important than your mental health
I hope he finds the peace he’s looking for
Hope he’s able to rekindle his love for the game because it looks like he’s just going through the motions.

I remember some fans saying we had a “core 8” when we traded for him. I’d say that it’s incredible how optimistic folks get over young players, but then I remember there were Dashien Nix fans, too, and this is understandable in comparison.
Be healthy homie
