  1. My man !!

For the record, I watched the whole game and there's maybe a difference of +/- 1 minute of TOI. I know that he ended the game on the first line and was one of the best player on the ice.
The coach realised little too late to put him back.
The only reason I see why he had so less TOI is because he is a rookie on the team.
I expect some change on the next game in the line up

  2. I think they dont want to put much into him, because they know he isnt gonna be there next season, so they'd rather give the oppurtunity to someone who's maybe on a 3 or 4 year contract, but if they keep losing, they will have no choice soon! lol.

  3. Remember when the khl wouldn’t play Michkov? Remember when Michkov ended up in Philly way early? The kid will be here soon & they will both be dynamic players in the nhl. Who cares right now?

  4. Historically, there has been a beef between Russian clubs and NHL cause kids would leave “for free” (especially in cases like Ovechkin and Malkin; “we raised these stars and they get them for free!”). It’s actually deeper than NHL clubs having to pay some set amount of money. There is a difference in the mindset. In the US, kids’ parents typically pay for everything, from uniform and skates to all the travel tournaments. In Russia, especially going back to the Soviet times, teams would take many of such expenses on themselves. Thus, the mindset has been we raised aka funded this player and now he is leaving and leaves us with nothing. That isn’t fair! It was especially a big deal in the 1990s when Fedorov, Bure and many others went to NHL; those players really never got to pay for anything growing up cause they were so talented. So the thinking shifted to let’s force him to stay with us longer so he “pays back” everything he owes us! Funnily, this attitude didn’t change much despite USSR falling apart over 30 years ago. Cause most of the people in charge are still Soviet born and raised. We see it with guys like Kaprizov, Michkov and now Demidov who are all forced to sign long term contracts when they have no other option. But in case with SKA, I suspect it has to do a lot with Rotenberg’s personality and his ego. Based on everything I’ve read and heard about him, it’s a very conceited and jealous individual. He is a decent hockey player himself, but nowhere near the talent required for the pro-level career. Sometimes I feel like he does what he does out of jealousy. Sorry, that’s my very long-winded response.😂

  5. This isn’t anything to worry about.. Rotenberg was quoted saying that he’s happy with the way Demidov responded to the fourth line minutes. No matter how little ice time he got, he never pouted and was more concerned about his team getting the win. Rotenberg added that Demidov keeps earning more of his trust every game. The minutes will come.. he should be in the top six next game seeing as how SKA got shut out in their last game and they want to shake things up.

  6. Great video ! I like to follow news about Demidov, of course he has some corrections to bring in his playing, unfortunately his coach doesn't seem to have the patience and the competence to handle, but then this is only the beginning of the KHL season….

  7. It’s pronounced SKA, like Reggae ). The team owned by the supreme leader so you can appreciate why they try to soil the path of those who will jump the curtain.

You’re asking the right questions and I’m sure understand how it works. Michkov, Demidov-same treatment. Coincidence? Rotenberg answers to secret service and he knows the expectation from above is to frown upon “traitors”. I’m sure he’ll ask for their ok to deploy him now though.

  8. If Demidov wants more ice time he should probably produce more looking good is all good but if you're not contributing or scoring it doesnt matter and the KHL will always favour the experienced players. Especially for a guy like Demidov that is 1 dimensional and not a physical guy this trend was always going to happen if he didnt keep producing. Thats why it was so impressive what Michkov was able to do as a 17 year old in the KHL. Tha being said the KHL is becoming a bad league not just for development (it always has been questionable) but the quality of players is really dropping its definitely not as good as it used to be and has likely been passed by leagues like the AHL and SHL and maybe even Liiga and Swiss league.

  9. Why is SKA using Demidov in this manner? The HC Rotenberg is a clown. He's a lawyer whose family business owns SKA. Before last season, he appointed himself head coach even though he'd NEVER coached a professional game in his life. He refused to play Michkov last season so mgmt loaned him out to Sochi again. Btw, SKA took a huge step back in the KHL standings in Rotenberg's first season.

The new HC in Sochi is Sergei Zubov, so Habs fans should hope Demidov gets loaned out.

  10. Playing so little cus he's a khl rookie. Just like anyone else he has to pay his way to more ice time.
Funny I've watched the completely opposite view point. That he's had quality chances and is showing his creativity. Just a matter of time.

  11. I know he hasn't gotten a ton of ice time but it's still been plenty of time to get a point or two. It'd be a lot harder to justify not giving him ice time if he could finish. Give him time. He'll adjust.

  12. They should’ve released him and let him come over to Montreal. Get used to playing on NA ice and get developed properly by members who actually care about the players of the team.. I hope he still gets lots of ice time, he’s showing what he can do but they ain’t letting him perform.

  13. Demidov didn't play well in game 3 and didn't sulk! He was much better in game 4, and was starting to get rewarded for it in the 3rd period. This kid has so much class and character. Hopefully next game he gets into the top 6 cause SKA needs to start scoring and Demidov looks like their best forward rn

  14. Well I'm not surprised, same issues with Michkov last season in Russia. Let's see what happens this time around, maybe the habs won't be as lucky as Philly was however.
