I was there tonight, and honestly it just didn't look like his heart was in it. Slowest walks to the dugout after innings and just looked pretty defeated 🙁
Bringing up young prospects early is a double-edged sword. If they POP then great (See Paul Skenes) If they don't, it could backfire. (See Detmers and Canning).
Detmers has struggled with control all season. So Minasian reassigned him. This HAD to affect Detmers' confidence. After all, he was the one that said at the beginning of the season that returning to a 5-man rotation should HELP him and others pitch better. (It hasn't.) So not only did he NOT improve, he actually regressed.
Then Detmers struggled in the minors until the end of Aug, where he seemed to have turned a corner, posting 29 Ks and only allowed 3 earned runs in 3 games. So Minasian brought him back up, and Detmers has again struggled with his control for the Angels. I'm extremely concerned that Minasian's mismanagement of Detmers (and Canning) has caused irreparable damage to their confidence and their futures as frontline pitchers.
Afterall, you can't put the toothpaste back in the tube.
Wow it doesn't get any lower than being blown out at home by the 2024 White Sox a terrible team that will set the all time record for losses 😢…this angel team has really given up on the game in September…. pitiful 😭
Officially 30 games under. Add insult to injury lose to a 36-115 team? I was a White Sox fan for several years in the past. So I personally know how bad they really are. Where are the Tim Anderson aficionados now when the Marlins DFA him July 5th? Just don't ask me whose worse of an owner in Reinsdorf or Arteball. It's really that close.
Homerun or bust. Johnny Washington job needs to be in question because this team can't score otherwise. Plus, Ron's suicide squeeze philosophy don't work at all.
Not going to dump on Detmers at all. Like Sandy Being Sandy, Canning, Silseth, Dana, and now Aldegheri are figuring things out. Kochanowicz and Soriano IMO done enough to have stay and compete for their spots in the rotation next season.
I guess I jinxed us with the talk of a White Sox sweep. Angels Law is again worse than Murphy's. Detmers may have 2 more starts left in the season. Hopefully end on a good note.

Losing to the White Sux 😂. Bottom of the barrel. Funny this is the first time they’ve met this season. 5 more times to see the pillow fight of the year.
The Angels are just 5 more losses from the franchise record of 95 losses held by the 1980 and 1968 teams. Ugh. I'm not that high on Ron Washington, so I try not to let my bias skew my opinion of his "leadership," but,, if you're going to "play the kids," it would be nice to see some motivation.
By now DFAing Detmers, they have done him a disservice. Had they done so early this season, he may have found a coach who can really help him – he needs to do something – add a pitch, lose a pitch, change his delivery … something. What he did all summer was a big waste of time. It’s sad because 20% of the time, he is a quality pitcher.
This organization needs an enema.
