My prediction is a 1 year deal just to get it done, then renegotiate a longer term deal for next year.

According to Pagnotta it’s either gonna be a 2 or 3 year deal, money is the question now.
Is this an actual update or is it progress defined as “they had another conversation but neither side changed their mind”?
Friedman said again yesterday he would bet on it being a short term bridge deal.

It won’t be a 1 year
A 1yr deal leaves Mercer open to a lot of risk. He most likely isn’t accepting that and I wouldn’t blame him.
Where? Connecticut?
Let’s hope 3 years instead of 2. 4.5 a year if that’s what it takes to get him in training camp on day 1.
I was thinking it would be 2 years at maybe 4-5 million to bridge over. 1 year is fine for a Bratt style prove it deal
This whole situation wreaks of it being a bridge deal.
2 or 3 years at sub 4 is a pretty fair deal for both sides I think.
It’s about an hour away from me. Not sure if that’s close by NJ standards.
Mercer and devils probably want it to be short term to see which mercer they get and stillman who plays the same way could be closer than expected to make the big club
