Zion then vs Zion now

As I’m watching Zion highlights from this past season, I am still amazed at what he did over the season

More than anything, he is playing a brand of basketball that is between power and finesse, a brand of basketball that makes him nearly unstoppable

Look at the angles in which he finished. This is the biggest difference between rookie Zion and current Zion. Rookie Z used to go straight up a lot of the times, resulting in him getting blocked. He also struggled with reading the game back then as he does now

People can say whatever they want about Z but fact of the matter is he has improved a ton over the years, he is continuing to read the game better

  1. yeh he’s gotten a lot better about working angles, finishing right, not just forcing left every time. he also has been shooting more 10+ foot shots. He is definitely better than his rookie year and excited to watch him play basketball

  2. One of the things you should be looking at is how congested the lane is when we got JV/Zeller on the floor rather than Nance.

We should adhere to our star, bringing in a Kessler (who congests it even further) would be actively working against Z.

Theis/Matkovic/Missi isn’t the dream centre rotation, but I prefer having this rather than having to play Walker Kessler (or a similair centre) 30 minutes a night.

  3. Rookie Zion was out of shape. Zions best offense we have seen is still his second year and two seasons ago before he got hurt. Last season he showed some great things, but his offence wasn’t as good as we have seen in the past. Mostly because he was working his way into shape most of the season
