Mets hold team meeting after Lindor injury

“First baseman Pete Alonso, manager Carlos Mendoza, and president of baseball operations David Stearns were the only three who spoke, discussing the need to win games without their star shortstop, according to Sherman.

Alonso reportedly stressed how important it is for the Mets to lock down a playoff spot so he could celebrate with his teammates”

  1. Did anyone repeatedly stress to Pete that he needs to stop swinging at sliders starting 5 miles outside the box?

  2. “Guys. We gotta do this for Lindy. Also, it will also allow me to exuburantly crotch bash the dugout guardrail again”

  3. I would be very curious to see how his teammates view this. I am sure they like him and all, but I just wonder when the guy who himself needs to drastically improve and follow his own advice is the one talking to a group of guys who 90 percent of have been doing just that all this time receive such a pep talk. I hope it works but last night (even with the Win) didn’t seem like it stuck with them lol

  4. can we start lying to pete and telling him we’re up by 5 runs every time it’s his turn to bat?

  5. first grimace returns, and now another team meeting? history repeats itself, and all signs point to another huge hot streak

  6. Why is Alonso speaking? What’s he going to say, that he stinks but he still wants huge money? Let’s hear from real clutch heroes like Iglesias and Vientos and Winker.

  7. “Guys, we all need to win these games without Francisco. I’m going to start by not swinging at sliders 5 feet outside the zone. I’m going to only swing at a strict 3 feet outside.”

  8. All this tells me is that Pete really wants to stay. I know he’s going to follow what his agent advises him to do but being a Met is all Pete knows. I’m sure he’ll get offers but I don’t think anyone is going to drastically offer him Freddie freeman AAV. If the money is close else where, I think he stays a Met
