[Matt Gelb] Phillies didn’t get to their Manhattan hotel until about 3 a.m. so no batting practice today. But they put Austin Hays through a full workout on the field. Hays could play at Triple A this weekend and return next week. There are lantern flies all over Citi Field.

  1. You can clinch the division on citi field. Give me 15 minutes of sleep and a red bull and im getting the damn job done come on boys

  2. I killed one of those things in the Upper Deck at CBP just three weeks ago. How did it even get up there?

  3. One of those bastards was on my windshield this morning but it flew away before the wiper could swipe it

  4. Oof, I hope the guys were able to get some good rest at least :/

I actually haven’t seen many lantern flies this year and I was wondering where they suddenly disappeared to… I guess the answer is Citi Field lol

  5. I wish we weren’t always the most interesting team in the world. No team should have this many oopsie, uh-oh incidents and happenings.

  6. So weird with those damn lantern flies. I’ve seen maybe 5 here in Delaware all summer. 3 years ago I was killing 50 a day

  7. Lots of unrelated info in this headline is making me think its all somehow related. Does anyone know why they didn’t get to Manhattan till 3am?

  8. Those lantern flies are the weirdest fucking thing. I’m in Scranton and literally only see them in one place now, the bridge I cross on my way to/from work. None before or after the bridge though.
