Jason Kelce on the 76ers new arena:
“I would prefer it says in South Philly, unquestionably. In 10 years, all of this is going to be different, we’re probably really happy there’s this beautiful complex that was developed down there and is a thriving part of the city. But right now I really hate it.”

  1. I understand why Harris wants to build a new stadium, simply because he won’t pay rent anymore and will increase the value of his team.

The problem with an NBA team being the only tenant in a stadium is the league relies on Superstars. Yes the Sixers are selling out now with Embiid, but what happens in the post-Embiid era?

After the Sixers traded Charles Barkley in 1992, they didn’t make the playoffs again until 1999. After they traded Iverson in 2006, they had a decade of mediocrity. The same thing will happen after Embiid as you are at the mercy of the lottery and it could be years until we get another superstar.

When you don’t have a superstar in the NBA, you don’t sellout. When you are a lottery team, you play to small crowds because people don’t care about the product. That’s why Hockey/Basketball teams should share a stadium because that’s atleast 81 nights a year of something going on + other events. What will it be like when the Sixers are a 25 win team and the stadium has 41 nights a year + events? If you think about how ridiculous it is to have a Basketball and Hockey stadium in the same city?

  2. I think it should've been in Penns Landing personally, that would've been the better location to me as it's further away from the main part of the city yet open enough for a stadium to be put there. If it's in Center City it's going to be so freaking crowded in the city, traffic is going to be a nightmare and good luck getting ANYWHERE on public transportation on a game night/day, it's a terrible decision and I highly disagree with it.
